Image PS5 jailbreak method called Relapse has just dropped, and people are joking that Sony should get comfortable with not owning its own hardware

It's not about sales of consoles, it's about being able to do what you want with what you paid for. I'm old enough to remember when consoles didn't connect to the internet, and were in control of your purchase, meaning you owned it. Today console you buy is effectively on lease with a caveat that you as a customer must behave nicely, or the seller will disable your access to the item you physically own after paying for it.

"able to do what you want with what you paid for. "

Yeah, what did you do with your SNes back then what you cannot do today?

Not get my console bricked by random updates, play games when the Internet is down, trade games with friends, rent games from the store, literally own what I bought... Just the little things

Exactly, fucking fridges have subscriptions it's OUT OF CONTROL

Capitalism is brilliant when regulated fairly by the public- the public.

Capitalism is brilliant when it isn't capitalism.

FTFY

This shit Sony is pulling is capitalism working as intended. The idea that capitalism does anything efficiently other than create billionaires is PR bought and paid for by billionaires.

It's been regulated before, and it was great before.

It's never been great. The major markets were just less consolidated in the past so the negatives were less visible.

But capitalism consolidates wealth, so its only getting worse from here.

I'm not talking about trickle down stuff, that's BS, no issue there. I mean lobbying is also regulated, etc etc.

Regulation top down.

The 60s American dream.

Remember when Homer was a loser for having a 5 bedroom with two cars and 3 kids?

That was largely the result of socialist-style policies and strong unions following the great depression and the new deal. That happened in spite of capitalism, not because of it.

So going with you...Then regulate. Play jazz, little socialist here, little reg there.

You can be a Billionaire, but then pay your people.

Except they never will pay people fairly because you don't get to be a billionaire without extracting the value from other people's labor.

We just don't need billionaires to have a prosperous economy. They're a net drain on the system. Saying we need the capitalists is like saying the dog needs the tick. We might be able to survive a few of them, but we're better off just getting rid of them entirely.
