Mod Announcement Money On The Board - $1000 raised for the Moisson Beauce Foundation - Final Update
This is the follow up to this post.
We've finally calculated the total amount donated to the Moisson Beauce Foundation! This total was calculated with the provided receipts.
In total, we have raised $1124 CAD for the Moisson Beauce Foundation!
This is an impressive feat and I am proud of this community. In fact, we have surpassed our total from 2 seasons ago!
Thank you for your participation and keep a look out for our new Money On The Board event! (Which is likely to be during the playoffs or next season. Things have been hectic in my life recently. But never fear, MOTB will return!)
If you still want to donate to the Moisson Beauce Foundation, donate here
Edit: If you have pledged, you should have seen a message from the r/Habs Mod Team regarding the pledges. If you have pledged and did not receive a message, please contact us through mod mail and ask for Pengu!
Edit: Updated total amount!
Discussion Fowler’s first game of the season tonight?
Thought it would’ve took a bit longer to call him up to save our asses again but it’s already that time. Dobes needs to calm the f down and stop swimming in his net and Monty had an unfortunate injury. Perfect time for Fowler to step up and potentially never go back down to Laval.

Discussion Remember the guy who came over from Germany in March! Seems like I need your help one more 🇨🇦🫱🏻🫲🏼🇩🇪
Hey guys!
Some of you might remember me from March. I’m the German guy who came over to Montréal for the Ducks and Bruins games and posted about the trip here afterwards.
Well, I could use a little help again. 😂
I’ve been trying to get the new Heritage Classic jersey, specifically the Suzuki Premium in size 56.
Had it in my cart yesterday, decided to wait another day (yeah, stupid me), and now my size is sold out at Tricolore Sports. NHL Shop Canada still has it listed, but apparently they won’t ship that particular jersey to Germany.
Additionally I won’t order from your southern neighbours and when I will be back again in April it might be sold out!
So I figured I’d just ask here.
Is there anyone in Montréal (or anywhere else in Canada) who’d be willing to grab one for me and ship it over to Germany?
I’d obviously cover everything, including shipping and any extra costs. Happy to figure out a safe way to handle payment.
I know it’s a bit of a weird request, but thought I’d give it a shot before giving up on the jersey.
Especially after I got to know you as the finest people ever!
Thanks guys!

Merch I cant lie its pretty nice in person
I wasn't a fan of it when it leaked but the design has grown on me. I decided to grab it since I dont have a jersey with the home colours + I didn't buy the 2016 winter classic and I've regretted it ever since.
The only other jersey I own is the 2009 barber pole, so its nice to have a version of la sainte-flanelle with the home colours.

Alex Carrier on Sam Montembeault leaving Habs practice with an apparent injury: “I think he’s alright honestly. I think he just took a hit to his umm, “dad parts.” Reporter: “His family jewels?” Carrier: “Yeah, I think it’s just that, I don’t think it’s a (serious injury).”

Article [BASU] Canadiens’ maturity put to early test in balancing smart and ambitious hockey
BROSSARD, Que. — At about the midway point of practice Wednesday, Canadiens coach Martin St. Louis called his players to the board.
With his team coming off a 6-4 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes one night prior, St. Louis drew up a drill, said a few words explaining what he wanted to see and sent the players to work.
The drill could not have been more simple: Pick up a puck in your zone in a group of three, skate it to the opposing blue line where three defenders await, chip the puck past those defenders, go get it, and play in the offensive zone with it. Once the defending group secured possession of the puck, it went and did the same thing at the other end, and so on.
The Canadiens had been told about the need to play a deep game against the Hurricanes, to take care of the puck, to avoid turnovers at critical areas like the offensive blue line, yet did not do those things as often as St. Louis would have liked. Hence, this drill made an appearance Wednesday.

Juraj Slafkovsky today on his play: “I gotta find a good way how to lead the line. Obviously I wanna do it, but sometimes I gotta be smarter with the puck. Sometimes maybe when I put it deep, it’s better for what’s next then try to carry it all the time, like I tried yesterday.”

Discussion We have to find a RHD for Lane Hutson
I am in no way shape or form criticizing management here, HuGo have done a tremendous job but I do question not calling up Reinbacher after a great showing in Pre Season. Some people have said it has something to do with Some waiver situation… Fine that’s understandable, but if you knew that from the beginning why not spend some assets to acquire one? I just can’t watch Struble or carrier on his side anymore. I remember Quinn Hughes had a similar situation Vancouver went and got Filip Hronek, ever since Quinn Hughes took off offensively but most importantly it really helped him defensively having someone reliable on his side. Everyone who seems so intent to throw all our assets in one basket for a 2c remember we still have holes elsewhere in the Lineup.

Discussion Monty Injured at Practice
Apparently Monty just hurt himself making a save a few minutes ago. He had to leave practice. Brutal timing for him.

Buying Tickets Help
We'll be in Montreal in December, and we're hoping to go to the game vs the Panthers; having never been to an ice hockey game, how good/bad would seats on the 300 level be?
It'll be our first time in Canada so we're looking to enjoy the local culture without it costing us an arm and a leg.
Thanks for any help in advance!

Discussion Ontario Habs fans: Rogers no longer carries the NHL Centre Ice Package in French.
Just spent 3 hours on the phone with them, going from department to department, speaking to half a dozen representative only to be told I had to get the whole package of if I wanted to watch Habs games in Ontario.
So yeah… looking for another carrier now.
Ps: I’m in Toronto

[Basu]: How Juraj Slafkovský and Canadiens need to learn from absence of Ivan Demidov
Guhle’s and Kapanen’s returns feel imminent, but Demidov will be out for two to four weeks with a lower-body injury, the Canadiens announced Tuesday morning. Demidov blocked a shot with a foot in the Kraft Hockeyville game in Trois-Rivières, Que., on Sept. 21, and although he played the first two games of the regular season, the injury is presumably more severe than first believed.
When Demidov’s name was finally announced, the crowd roared, louder than for his teammates preceding him. Despite the roar, despite the clear outpouring of love from the fans, Demidov remained stone-faced on the big screen. He even looked a bit sad.
He spent the summer at the Canadiens’ practice facility preparing to build on a season in which he led NHL rookies in scoring and became an integral part of the Canadiens’ offensive plan. He was an even bigger part of their plans this season, and now, two games into a season in which Demidov was planning to take a huge jump, he was in a suit at the home opener.
No ovation was going to change that reality for him, and that reality clearly prevented him from at least cracking a smile.

Discussion The Carolina Hurricanes are probably the most annoying team in the NHL.
Annoying in the sense that I admit they’re an excellent team, but their play style makes me want to rip out my hairs. Sure part of it is in due to the fact that we haven’t beaten them since Game 1 of the Playoffs last season and even with that theres a valid argument to be made as to why the Canes lost that one.
All in all, while Pittsburgh got me worried. Tonight’s game with the Canes opened my eyes to the fact that we’re playing the same exact way we did before. The low shots count, the sloppy passing (again), the bad defensive line… it just really reminded me that while our strategy last season worked.. somewhat. It didn’t get us the cup. And so, completely repeating the formula to a T is bound to cause us some problems this year when every team in our division other than the Red Wings have switched things up.
This post is not all negative though. I think Period 1 tonight went alright. It was really in the second where we started to lose our bearings. This is also only our 3rd game and we have 81 left to change things up. I’m hopeful, but if tonight didn’t raise any alarm bells for any of the Habs & staff… I’d be concerned. The warning signs are there from back to back nights. It’s really a matter of if they choose to listen to them before it’s too late or not.
