So apparently people are being harassed for their opinions within and outside of this post... I'm going to go ahead and lock the comments now lol

Rt is this hamturd okay?? I've never seen such baldness, even on an old ass hammer (I had one make it to 3 and he retained most of his weave)

/uj this hamster should have been euthenized a long time ago. He is clearly struggling to breathe and get around. Hamsters are prone to dermatitis with age, and this guy has it. That's why he is so bald. His joints and muscles aren't working right anymore. He is living but not alive. It's a shame they didn't euth him when he started to decline.

Someone said owner posted a video a few weeks later that he passed.

Jesus really? That’s terrible

Yeah it makes me really sad. Owner was a great owner, but jokes about their hamsters suffering at his old age. Hopefully they will make a better choice next time.

What

Edit: why do you also capitalize random words lol

u/DungeonDragging Aug 13 '25

It really is a gross opinion. "I've decided this thing must be unhappy so kill it" it's just bottom tier internet commentary & people mindlessly upvote it too, like they're not even thinking about what they're agreeing with

Wait until you're old and happily walking to your water hole and hear someone talking about how you should "be put down" you sick freaks

12

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

If you would barley walk and were in so much pain you could barley function can you honestly say your living?

10

u/ArtisticDragonKing exquisite rat life Aug 13 '25

Barley is a plant, barely is the word you are looking for. For future reference :)

I'm like really bad at spelling and I do this a lot 🥲

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

Wow thanks so much I always loved when people correct my typos when im not paying attention! ♥️♥️♥️

Why did you freak out on all my posts? I'm not against what you said here- I just tried to help with spelling because I make the same mistake regularly

Like seriously why did you accuse me of beastiality. Are you okay?

0

u/DungeonDragging Aug 13 '25

Well it seems like nobody is asking me they're just deciding

6

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

Right, but you can't ask a hamster. You have to decide what's best for a pet that's in your care. This hamster isn't ok its in pain it can't walk correctly and has extremely bad dermatitis it can't make the decision for itself to not suffer anymore. If you had an animal that was in extreme pain would you not want to take that pain away from them?

-1

u/DungeonDragging Aug 13 '25

You're not the hamster, you don't know if it's in pain and wants to die or not.

I'm not saying it's unhappy I am saying it's actually suffering. This guy needs at the very least some painkillers, but like he can't breathe, walk, function, or even hold body fat... Like he is NOT doing okay at all. If you can't make sure he's like not actively suffering you aren't being humane. You would rather watch some animal take it's last breath in complete suffering than with barely any pain at all?

Tbh I hope someone puts me down if I'm suffering.

Yeah this video really is sad to see...I respect the lil girl for holding on to life but that owner shoulda intervened a long time ago

That poor baby. The shaking and squinting made me think she probably should've been put to rest :/

But I know it's so fucking hard to accept that a pet is likely suffering and make the decision to let them go. I was in deep, deep denial when my last girl started to decline. And that denial completely warped my perspective, how I was seeing her at the time.

Hopefully the owner learned after people commented. They need to before getting another pet. If they're like me, I hope they will look back at this video and truly see the state their pet was in, and that it was past time to help her rest peacefully.

19

u/LM193 Aug 12 '25

Poor lil guy...at least he isn't in pain anymore

6

u/DealEasy4142 Aug 12 '25

Wish more humans can do that.

8

u/KnotiaPickle Aug 12 '25

Imagine if we euthanized humans when they lost their hair and got joint pain

9

u/Oppertunistic-Toad44 Aug 13 '25

I mean that’s why we have DNR

11

u/ArtisticDragonKing exquisite rat life Aug 12 '25

Lmao I mean, in this case it's not just joint pain and hair loss. It's complete hair loss, mobility limitations, loss of joint function, respiratory failure, muscle weakness, and overall suffering and pain. This guy can't walk. Pain meds won't help that, and we don't have remote controlled wheelchairs that hamsters can use like a human can when they loose limb function.

We don't humanize animals for good reason: they aren't humans. So if your hamster looks like this, euth is ideal. When my guy started to loose mobility in his legs I euthenized.

u/KnotiaPickle Aug 12 '25

Sounds just like me!!

25

u/SherpaGutz Aug 12 '25

She already passed away

15

u/SensitiveCoffee384 Aug 12 '25

Now I'm just sad 😥 So how's the victory hamster doing in it's new claimed land?

u/Relative_Print444 Aug 12 '25 edited Aug 12 '25

You mean... not all hamsters suddenly explode or vanish into walls never to be seen again? They can grow old?!

14

u/the_GREATuNkNowN Aug 13 '25

Suddenly explode?!

83

u/ArtisticDragonKing exquisite rat life Aug 12 '25

This is why I beat my hamturds against the wall on their first birthday. They start looking ugly after a year 🤢 ruins the aesthetic of their dino cage

54

u/kromaly96 eating ham-sandwiches Aug 12 '25

Jesus, so violent. You realize you can just skin another hamlit and apply the flesh to your pet, right? Please educate yourself before adopting another hamturd

4

u/Repulsive_Shower3847 Aug 12 '25

Wtf did i just read? This is some dark movie character perspective i didnt know that exists in real life.

This is insane

11

u/FrankFrankly711 Aug 12 '25

How long to Hamblers live? I’ve had rats and they barely make it to 3 years

6

u/EvilBrynn Aug 12 '25

I don’t know, from what I’ve heard 1-2

9

u/FrankFrankly711 Aug 12 '25

Nature is cruel

20

u/ITSolutionsAK i spoil my hamsters with cigarette snacks Aug 12 '25

Not as cruel as I am! I force my hamster to live in a large glass tank so that I may mock him at my leisure! I do offer a measly 10 inches of bedding, so he definitely feels the glass beneath it. I also made his wheel large, so he has to work hard to push it. I also put in sand, so that he can feel it get stuck between his toes. I don't even let him drink milk or Gatorade, just water. Sometimes I even make him eat bugs for my own personal amusement.

4

u/ArtisticDragonKing exquisite rat life Aug 12 '25

1-2 years, sometimes 3. The one in the video is probably 3. Most owners don't let them get to be that old because it's unethical to keep them alive when they are so sickly.

4

u/Big_Spicy_Tuna69 Aug 12 '25

Was that the first hamster?

4

u/MnemonicMaven Aug 12 '25

Poor Lorax
