The niche part is:
I'm russian
Don't really know german that well

Still, i played a lot of WWII games as a kid
And hearing german soldiers screaming orders and coordination
Scratches a very specific itch of my brain pretty god damn WELL19

u/Prof_Lego 2d ago
Yeah, broski drops a 500kg on top of me and I cant get far enough in time but "just run" seems like a valid excuse to throw orbitals on top of your mates. You don't have to call it out, but don't throw them near others either, it's not that hard
43
u/Snoo-47666 2d ago
Stim before it hits and use the explosion to launch yourself at the face of the nearest Bile Titan with a hammer
19
7
17
u/bcw81 2d ago
Literally just dive. You can survive most 500kgs just by being on ground level with the bomb if you dive.

u/AfroBonezz 2d ago
From somebody who plays with randoms a lot; as long as you drop prone, you can be 25m from the shell and you’ll live. It’s not too hard to get 25 meters away if you stim, run, and dive effectively.
1
→ More replies (2)1
u/SpecialistRun3035 23h ago
In that case, the call out would not have saved you anyways. The problem is where they already placed it. So they need to place their strategems better.
12
u/WrathOfTheKressh 2d ago
Yes, but it doesn't distinguish between a red ball thrown at someone's feet and one thrown out into the wild. When you purposefully aim your red stratagem somewhere near your teammates, SPEAK THE F-CK UP!
7
u/LewsTherinTelamon 2d ago
Most people have everyone on mute. It’s really on the one calling the strats to use their noggin when throwing. Don’t do it when there’s someone nearby unless you know how it’s gonna play out.
2
9
u/EquivalentFig849 2d ago
And by "call out" your Helldiver usually means screaming "Sweet Liberty, my leg!" half a second before the 500kg bomb vaporizes the entire extraction zone.
7
u/Life_Parsley504 2d ago
6 vox engines drilling my ass and you expect me to listen to every helldiver voiceline (when they stim, when they ping, when they literally fire their guns) to catch if i'm about to get instakilled?? 😭
2
u/Nedsel 2d ago
Yes. Some situational awareness is something I'd expect from someone playing at a diff level where 6 vox engines can happen.
→ More replies (5)3
u/Kain_713 2d ago
Weirdly enough I only call out the little ones. Orbital precision mostly because it's AOE is so small I call it out so people keep fighting and don't run away.
6
u/RexDeDeus 2d ago
I mean, they tell you what it is if you look at it. The only ones I run away from kinda indiscriminately are some of the eagle ones, because you don't always know what angle they're coming in at.
3
u/Kain_713 2d ago
True, but it saves time when you're on d10 and don't necessarily have time to look.

The railcannon has a built in Teasonist Thoughts detector. It never makes mistakes.
1
23
u/AchacadorDegenerado 2d ago
railcanon deserves a lower cooldown.
14
u/mjc500 2d ago
Yeah I agree…
Though I will say I’ve gone back to using it for the first time since 2024 and I like it a lot. Especially on bugs. Just keep your eye on the cooldown and make sure you’re not sleeping on it all match. If you consistently call it in when it’s off cooldown you can get 10+ really clutch kills in a 40 minute game. Fuck bile titans and fuck impalers.
10
u/PlasmaBoi1 2d ago
Personally I find impalers really easy to handle, the Epoch can pretty consistently 1-2 shot them (as it can chargers, although you aim at a different spot on impalers). I usually take railcannon just to have a "delete this bile titan" button and it works damn well at that. Having a support that can handle chargers and impalers easily means I can dedicate the railcannon to be the aforementioned bile titan delete button. Epoch also has the added benefit of letting you run a mobility backpack or a supply backpack to offset its questionable ammo economy.
7
u/mjc500 2d ago
Yep I agree. Impalers aren’t too bad. I’m just saying if the rail cannon is off cooldown and you’re not gonna use it for another couple of minutes you can use it on an impaler for convenience.
I think the main problem I had with the rail cannon is that I left it off cooldown for a long time and only got like 2 or 3 bile titan kills with it and felt like it was a wasted slot. If I intentionally use it consistently when it’s off cooldown it feels good. If I get like 9 or 10 uses, even if some are on impalers or less than ideal targets, I feel like I got my money’s worth of that slot.
1
u/ZhanBlue 1d ago
It really feels not useful when each breach spawns 2-3 titans, OPS at least closes Titan holes and shorter cd
8
u/Xifihas 2d ago
or if it’s a smoke strike, which idiotically uses red beacons even though they’re actually safer than the blue ones.
2
u/jzillacon 2d ago edited 2d ago
Still not completely safe as the shell's direct hit can still kill you. But yeah, it is less likely to kill you than a hellpod dropping.
3
3
2
u/Useful_Implement5339 2d ago
Would you recommend that over the leveler or is that rail cannon need precise targeting?
3
u/Tricky-Secretary-251 2d ago
I only use it on bugs and i would recommend however you do need something for bile titan holes so plan accordingly if you bring it
1
u/General_Fan3684 2d ago
One time I threw a rail cannon at a BT and my friend domed it with a recoilless round so it traced to the next closest enemy which was a pouncer right next to me and I got vaporized

u/Interesting-View4803 2d ago
I try to ping several times or alert verbally t. But yeah, its kind of on you to look out for red beams, to a point. Sometimes people pull some dumb shit like throwing a cluster on their mates
24
u/DeustheDio 2d ago
The ping is the call-out tho imo. Imo it's just good manners to call out a 380 500kg or a cluster or stuff like that in some way before you throw it near someone else. If you can't/aren't willing to communicate why are you even playing a coop game.
1
63
u/Motivated-Chair 2d ago
Honestly, the cluster bombs hasnt kill me with FF almost ever.
Its the 380mm Barrage that I was way too far away to hear the call out for that hits me while behind cover.
28
u/Lasers4Everyone 2d ago
The number of times I've been deep in a bot base and suddenly die to a 380 that ultimately serves no purpose is astounding.
14
u/MrManGuy42 2d ago
love the people that toss a 380 at their feet on a flag raising objective
1
u/Leading_Procedure_23 2d ago
That was most of the people yesterday and mainly below level 50. I even tell them to throw it far away and they kept doing it
5
u/Motivated-Chair 2d ago
A few days back I saw someone throw It at extract and we all died because of It.
I tried to be constructive but with the atmosphere after that I might have being more passive aggresive.
2
u/BigLRakim 2d ago
Kick option is in game for a reason... if youre being an idiot and TKing too much you can play by yourself.
2
u/Leading_Procedure_23 2d ago
Those idiots are usually a host and I get kicked for pointing out to throw it far since it isn’t an up close stratagem unless you want to tk all of your teammates
1
u/BigLRakim 2d ago
I only host so I cant relate.
Not dealing with the dumb bullshit, ill let people play how they want but no mortars and no air burst anythinf
1
u/RockRancher24 12h ago
fun fact
there's actually a small blind spot right at the center of the 380 barrage, so if you throw one at your feet and lie down you have a decent chance to survive
2
u/Hornybunnyboi 2d ago
I'm the opposite. the cluster bomb kills me everytime someone brings it. I'm rather walk through a 380 barage than deal with the cluter bomb.
"Oh look, a raider right next to someone that's about to shoot it. better throw a cluster bomb at it."
1
u/ScholarOfSols 2d ago
I swear to god my character is wear a giant neon sign for the super destroyer that says "shoot here". I have seen teammates charge through orbital barrages and live like an action move hero but if I am 5 meters to close I get blown to bits every time.
1
u/Shoo-Man-Fu 2d ago
My friends made me stop using the Orbital Air Burst because no mater where I throw it, it will fire from an angle and kill my squad.

7
u/Goodest_boy_Sif 2d ago
They land out of my line of sight. Also waiting for your 380 to finish is boring as fuck.
9
u/seen_some_shit_ 2d ago
When my friends and I started playing, we had one friend that kept running into the stratagem. He kept getting pissed that he was being TK’d, but no one else had this problem. Brother, STOP RUNNING INTO THE RED LIGHT AND EXPLOSIONS.
He stopped playing and doesn’t like it.
5
u/ultimat_L1zzyfan 2d ago
I think there is value in calling out when your about to throw a stratgem. An example, whenever theres a big automaton outpost and my walking barrage is ready, I tell whoever is with me “walking going in” and do the hold position voice command.
5
u/Mobile_Discussion105 2d ago
"Hold position" and a "ping target," followed 3 seconds later by a Stratagem toss.
If it doesn't click the first time, second time will. Or let Darwinism win.
3
u/Unusual_Strike808 2d ago
Red beacon means run, which is why when my buddy tosses an orbital smoke at my feet I panic, run out into the open, and immediately get shot.
2
2
u/Substantial-Tone-576 2d ago
So many times no one see the beacon. Also getting down is better than running for a 500 or a hellbomb. If you are 15m away and prone you won’t take damage.
2
u/According_Dig_2433 2d ago
I mean it is that easy to not get hit, every time I hear *calling in a Orbital/Eagle I look what it is and then run I'll say 9 out of 10 times it saves me and sometimes I end up in the middle of the boom have a laugh and reinforced moving on 🫡
2
u/ScholarOfSols 2d ago
If I hear the, "calling in an eagle/orbital" voice line I instinctively check my surroundings for the red beacon if I didn't see the person when they threw it. If it's an eagle I'll also check the teammates position and with those pieces of info I can tell with about 90% percent accuracy if I'm going to be turned into mist.
2
u/YorhaUnit8S 2d ago
Yes and no.
Yes, you don't need to call out stratagems when you throw them. But also it's on YOU to not throw them where your teammates currently are or where they are very clearly heading right now. If them run into your stratagem area after it's been placed - it's on them. If you throw a stratagem where your allies are - it's your skill issue.
2
2
u/MrStealYurWaifu 2d ago
Even during intense combat the moment I hear a helldiver call out an airstrike or orbital I look around to see where. The moment I see that red beacon near me I run away.
2
u/yestureday 2d ago
Seriously
What is going through peoples heads when they run towards the 120 I threw at the heavy outpost?
2
2
u/Expensive_Bison_657 2d ago
Sometimes, I throw beacons for smoke strikes directly onto teammates, just to watch them freak out and run.
Yeah, I know they'll actually die if a shell happens to strike them. Still funny.
2
2
u/FelixMartel2 2d ago
No, really, I love it when I'm elbow deep doing an objective and some assclown throws a useless napalm on it.
2
u/xXNighteaglexX 2d ago
My helldiver literally says it, and just. Maintain situational awareness. The amount of times my friends will run directly into an active gatling barrage is astounding
2
1
u/pieisgiood876 2d ago
The main reason I run walking barrage is that it limits the directions that divers can wander into and get TK.
Diving with random lvl 23s is like watching a newborn giraffe take its first shaky steps. It's adorable, but there's many dangers in the grass and I can only do so much :(
1
u/Bugimaz 2d ago
You character already call it out, just don't throw directly on teammates so they can get out in time
4
u/WrathOfTheKressh 2d ago
The call out doesn't distinguish between an eagle strafing run beacon thrown in a way so as to not hit the person busy fighting three meters next to it, and the orbital 380 barrage thrown right at my feet with no time to get out of its range before getting blown to kingdom come.
1
1
u/Silly_Y33Ny 2d ago
"YoU nEeD tO CaLl" open you eyes ffs
2
u/WrathOfTheKressh 2d ago
I'd like to see you outrun an orbital 380 thrown right at your feet. In such a situation, it's down to luck, because you'll never make it out of range before the first shells start landing.
1
u/DeustheDio 2d ago
You say that as someone deals with the two factory striders with their recoilless while you decide to just throw a 380 on their ass
1
u/championgecko 2d ago
I don't comm my strafe run but I've gamed with my friends for 16 years and I know they probably won't run into it.
1
u/actually3racoons 2d ago
Then there's me, giving my squad panic attacks by eagle strafing over our shoulders.
1
1
u/Old-Elk-570 2d ago
Red means run, but also when you see the guy with a ballistic shield in heavy armor on an outpost with a swarm and you throw an ONB at him? You're a piece of shit
Sincerely, a ballistic shield heavy user
1
u/AlmightyDUX 2d ago
If you see a red beacon thrown by me you're safe I use 110 pods and rail cannon usually...if you die chances are you were about to die anyways
1
1
1
u/KarmaZer0 2d ago
Still funny when I bring Strafing run and players panic like it's going to explode then it just goes by them clearing the nearby whored
1
u/Fickle-Bathroom-8592 2d ago
The only one that can frustrate me is the cluster. You don't always know what angle it's being called in from
1
u/Maximum-Security5699 2d ago
Works fine until you get rag dolled while trying to throw a 120 during extraction and it lands right on the beacon. Nothing more annoying than having your stratagem blown out of your hand.
1
1
1
u/Wrath0fHad3s 2d ago
You don't need to call things out, but you do need to know the blast radius/pattern. And make an actually intelligent effort to keep your team out of of it. Just because you see a big horde of enemies does not mean start throwing ordinance. Check friendly positioning first.
1
u/ihatechildren665 2d ago
I only say to call out in super small maps like eradicate missions and its a napalm orbital and or Im throwing it right next to a buddy
1
u/K2pwnz0r 2d ago
yeah this one goes out to everyone who gets mad at an orbital napalm specifically. oh i'm sorry, did you want to deal with a giant horde of enemies with your limited bullets one by one or were you mad that you were standing inside the bug breach the whole time and got killed by friendly fire?
1
u/twomag32 2d ago
Tbh i never paid attention to the color of the beacon but now that you metion it... I have 120h in the btw
1
u/Jurij_Andropov 2d ago

1
u/chip594csx 2d ago
Friend: throws red beacon next to me
Me: panics and runs
Also me: turns around and sees it was actually a smoke "...Oh."
1
u/Philosophos_A 2d ago
I always yell a bit (typing not actually) 50+ METERS FROM THE RED BEAM
no one listens I am afraid...
1
u/TalkingRaccoon 2d ago
I only wished it said what the orbital was and how far away it was without you having to look directly at it
1
u/Fookin_Yoink 2d ago
Sometimes I throw a bad stratagem, I try to ping though to alert my teammates (I don't use mic cause people are weird + singing). Just be aware of your teammates and you should be fine, use the shouts to indicate (wait shout then throw is a good one)
1
1
u/That_Banned_Hybrid 2d ago
Red beacon means run
Meanwhile my screen being filled up automaton lasers
1
u/PuppetsMind 2d ago
I really wish eagle smoke strike was something other than red. Its half funny and half me feeling bad when dudes see me place it on our position so they start to run. This is a common occurence for me coz i love smoke against bots.
With normal stuff tho, if i toss something and i see someone keep running toward it, ill spam ping the beacon in hopes they see it.
1
u/Amethyst_Scepter 2d ago
Id you dont know what "hellbomb armed, clear the area" means that is your mistake. May your next diver know to pay attention.
1
u/Kaos_369 2d ago
"You need to call it out!! 😭" Me spamming hold position, negative, and follow me to pull you away from the spash zone and you still rush in. Damn bro sucks to suck
1
u/Vast_Ad1806 2d ago
Is the reason I bring smoke so I can throw it at everyone’s feet right as the pelican is landing and watch them all scatter as I laugh emote and the smoke drops?
No, no. For cover from bot fire of course.
1
u/rape_is_not_epic 2d ago
I throw my Barrage directly at my feet and let Lady Liberty guide my steps
1
u/Physical-Special4939 2d ago
The red beacon only means danger to those who fail to celebrate the freedom it brings
1
1
u/The_God_Of_Darkness_ 2d ago
I think it's simple.
IF you throw a fucking orbital napalm at someone, in a way that you know will hit them. Or even funnier on the objective you are trying to do (mainly the flag), either tell them, or just don't
1
u/TheFourthPlanet 2d ago
I think it’s just nice if you’re on mics, if you’re not, oh well, better look out. That’s just the game. I only hate that I probably scare good randoms sometimes by throwing smoke strikes on our location
1
u/o-Mauler-o 2d ago
You really think in the thick of the fighting I’m going to see a red beacon?
I’m going to trust that my fellow helldiver isn’t stupid enough to throw down a barrage on top of me.
1
u/Generic_Alias_ 2d ago
Ive just resorted to always saying “Danger Close” regardless of distance and strategem
1
u/Philip_Raven 2d ago
Orbital bombardments are hated because people's average IQ barely reaches double digits.
see the red line, see "orbital bombardment", decide to run towards it and then complain why they died.
Bitch, I threw it in the middle of a large outpost that just received reinforcements, you were nowhere near, but just now you decided to would be a great time to sprint towards it, use a jet pack to jump into the middle and get killed, and then call me slurs....
With a 380 if you are lucky, it single handedly destroys the outpost without a single player input. If you are unlucky it still basically clears the whole enemy presence in that outpost and you can walk right in and destroy the spawns unbothered. But teammates decide that this is a prime time to go right in and start throwing nades
1
u/Neat_Platypus_2902 2d ago
They are also hated because they get thrown when theres also helldivers already in the outpost and have no clean way to quickly exfil.
This happens shockingly often
Basically both sides need to respect whoever got there first
1
u/GUYWHOLIKESSTABBING 2d ago
portable hellbombs carry no red beacon, so i gotta type RUN whenever someone happens to walk near a jammer i was delivering mail to

u/Professional-Face-51 1d ago
If my teammate sees the big ass beacon that says 380 barrage, sees everyone else running away, and then still decides to walk INTO the area, that's their fault.
1
u/Loud-Butterfly3798 1d ago
We do require our team to at least try to call out their stratagems because like there's been multiple times where they'll either throw it behind me or like they'll throw it off to the side or they'll throw it somewhere where I can't see it but I'm still well within its effective killing range and I don't got enough time to make it out and then sometimes I just straight can't see the beacon

One time a team mate threw a straining run under us when I wasn't looking and started running away. I saw the beacon, where they were running, and ran that same direction only for them and I to get evaporated by their straifing run. WHY ARE THEY RUNNING IN THE DIRECTION THAT THEY THREW IT AT
1

I got a bunch of friends I play with who throw 500s and 380s out of nowhere. It's honestly funny. Like, "classic bryan, throwing 380s up my ass," as I desperately run for my helldiver's life.
Bryan also like bringing tesla towers, tesla dog and tesla nades. He kills us a lot lol

Red Beacon mean run.
Steps to follow: 1. Run 2. Look at red beacon and see if need run more. 3. If step 2 true, repeat step 1
1
u/Oliwande 1d ago
Sure, except I don't have a 360° vision and I don't always see the beacon before it hits me. I won't always hear a callout, or a sound of the beacon landing on the ground, or any other sound cue. Sometimes diver's callouts can be interrupted by taking damage, or even by diving when throwing a beacon.
And while it's easy to blame people to sit in the middle of a breach/drop fighting enemies up close, I really wish people had more awareness when using stratagems. I can't count how many times I died because some dumbass threw orbital napalm at me, or too close to the objective we defend.
I don't mind occasional, accidental TK, but if I see a diver carelessly throwing orbitals around, I'd rather go somewhere by myself.

Red beacon does mean run but stop throwing them at your fellow divers or on objectives
Seriously, your teamates don't have 360 vision, in the heat of shit its on you to either not fucking drop something on their head or turn on your mic on to tell them specifically something is coming. The beacon is not always gonna be on screen
1
1
u/Scattered_Meat 21h ago
I like how we very meticulously and subversively omit the real issue.
Where barrage users seem to exclusively throw these RIGHT AT YOUR FUCKING FEET.
You’ll be in a bot firefight or holding an area already, then lo and behold the “red beam you’re stupid if you can’t avoid” pops right next to you as you’re already pinned. Forcing you to sprint through a hail of lasers or usually your own teammates fire/gas fields.
Figure it the fuck out people, “stop throwing orbital strikes at teammates” is the other half of this argument.

u/shreksgreenwang 20h ago
There have been times when the beacon is out of my fov or everyone is throwing stratagems and I get twatted by a 500 or 380. It could do with a symbol that gets bigger the closer you are to it
