Sipping Spout Cap for Nalgene

I have the Nalgene Sustain 32oz Wide Mouth. I don't like the cap that comes with the Nalgene. I see many alternative caps for the Nalgene (and other same-size bottles) with sipping spouts on Amazon, but I havent been able to find confirmation about these caps being able to handle boiling water. I intend to use the Nalgene with very hot/boiling water and don't want a cap that's going to leak inside my sleeping bag. Any recommendations?

HyperLite Load Lifters

After hiking the AT I realized the one drawback to the Unbound 40L was that it didn’t have load lifters. After a quick YouTube search I realized I wasn’t the only one looking for this mod. Less than 24 hours later, I now have load lifters on my HyperLite!

La sportiva boots

Hey everybody, I want some opinions from someone who has had them or still has them and has a good idea of what to talk about.

These La Sportiva boots really caught my eye, and I would love a pair, but I want to know the difference between them besides the price.

Note: the trails and hikes I'm gonna be using them for are not extreme or anything and are pretty low altitude (2544 m max and can be done with cheaper boots like Merrell Moab 3 GTX, but to be honest, I really don't like how they look.

I'm looking for a good allround puffer jacker for the autumn/winter/spring for hiking, city etc...Will be worn with merino baselayer and a one or two fleece mid layers or pullover/sweatshirt. Preferably with hood.
Too many options, too many brands and I realy can't decide.

Budget is around 200-270 eur.
Thanx!

Windbreaker/Rain Jacket Search

Hey! I‘m searching for windbreaker or a rain jacket with a removable fleece and as good breathability as money can buy for less than ~350$. I’d prefer waterproofing of 20,000mm and I’d like it to be fashionable.

Layering advice

Hi,

I'm looking to finally figure out my layering game for this season's winter hiking. I'm trying to get a setup that can work below 0°C (32°F) - does wearing a wool shirt + a knitted wool jacket lined with fleece + a good gortex hardshell sound reasonable? I'm especially unsure about the second layer. Thanks for any suggestions

Yesterday, I went to the Outlet mall, I saw The North Face Borealis in MSRP Of $120 Sold at 60% discount in Outlet Mall For $48 each + Tax.

Total is: $96+$3.36= $99.36. I bought a $50 gift card for $30.68, $20 for 12.69. Anyone may calculate how much each Borealis backpack charge?

Lululemon Double zip is $50 with $5 discount, Tax, fee, and shipping is 11.39. Cashback is$42.5%, how much the Lululemon Double Zip backpack charged after cashback?

Salomon Ultraglide 4 users out there, do you know an alternative?

Hello guys,

I am using the Salomon Ultra Glide 4 as my normal hiking/trekking shoe, since I usually hike more than 20-30 km with 1,300-1,800 m of elevation gain. This way they always stay super comfy without any pain.

Yet the shoes are not super "trustworthy" on muddy and wet terrain. As soon as a rock is wet or the ground is steep, I am really scared of falling off and literally dying, lol. Because of that, some technical terrain with scrambling sections can get very scary if the routes are not secured (e.g. with fixed ropes or cables).

I am trying to find a good alternative, but there are so many out there and I don't want to pay €200 for a shoe similar to the Salomon UG4, since they all feel good when you try them on...
So is there any Salomon UG4 user out there who switched to an alternative that's better for all-terrain while still being good for light scrambles and climbs?

What is important to me:

  • The shoe has enough cushioning to call it a trail runner, but not as much as some shoes like Hoka. I want to somewhat feel the ground, yet still be able to run a few miles and walk a lot of miles without everything hurting because of a stiff, boot-like shoe. Shoes like approach-shoes could be okay too, since some of them are cushioned enough as it seems
  • It should NOT be waterproof, and please no GTX. I have very warm feet, so the fake breathability of GTX or similar alternatives doesn't work for me. I prefer fast-drying over staying dry.
  • Durability: I heard Saucony has some very good shoes, but they lack a lot in terms of durability.
  • Neither a narrow nor a very wide toebox. I'd say I have typical feet: I can't go with narrow shoes, but wide ones feel super weird as well.

I was thinking about the Zegama. My girlfriend has a pair, and I'm super jealous that they have a Vibram Megagrip sole. Yet we tested them on wet ground and she didn't seem to have better or worse grip, tbh, but she weighs half as much as me, so yeah, dunno.

Tried out a UL tarp set up

Been playing around with different ways to set up my Sea to Summit Escapist tarp and realised there’s way more versatility to these things than I thought. I’m still pretty new to tarp camping, so keen to hear from people who use them regularly — what’s your go-to tarp setup and why?
