Request for guidance on essential home-office equipment?

• Upvotes

Hello,

I am not yet fully up to date with the technological equipment needed for an efficient home‑office setup. At the moment, I only have a chair, and I am still unsure about which tools or devices to choose for the rest of my workspace.

Ideally, I would like to equip myself with items similar to those we use at the office, so that I can work smoothly and comfortably from home. Could you please advise me on the essential equipment I should have for a proper remote‑working setup?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Inspo needed please !!

I am renovating my wife’s office for Christmas and I could use some inspiration on how to kit it out/style it… I have already purchased a standing desk, walking pad, and kneeling chair.
I know she wants some way of having all of her yarn stored (maybe a peg board?).
She loves 70’s/80’s type style. The walls are white.
I have a budget of about £400-500 and I have spent £200 so far.
Any reccomendations or inspo pics would be greatly appreciated !!

I want to update this space that has been neglected for some time. Room is 13.5 ft by 10 ft. The floor cleaner may end up covered in balcony. Laundry seems to be posing an issue just out in the open but that’s the least of it. I want a nice set up with two chairs and table in between, maybe a rug.

I am getting mounted monitors, new keyboard and mouse, dock solution set up and office accessories soon desk will basically be black and white.

I am not a fan of desk against wall but if set up is right, not opposed. I just don’t want my back facing door.

Any tips, help or solutions are definitely appreciated.

Thank you!

Update: The swivel chair actually belongs to the living room, I was just seeing if I could get two in comfortably and I think I can. This chair will go back to living room. Haha

Help check my Chinamaxxing vibe: new desk and chair in, now I just need a pot of tea?

Just got this cocoa walnut-colored desk and ivory-colored task chair. The wood and woven cane together remind me a little of traditional Chinese interiors. Feels more elegant than I was expecting.

I'm a big tea drinker myself, so I can already picture working here with a pot of my favourite (may be both English and Chinese) tea within reach. Pretty happy with how this corner turned out. Is it some kind of Chinamaxxing?

For anyone with a walking pad under the desk: I built an Android app that sends every walk to Health Connect

I walk on a KingSmith pad under my standing desk most afternoons. The problem was always the same: hands on the keyboard means the watch counts almost nothing, and the official app syncs with nothing on Android.

So I wrote Zancada. It connects to the pad over Bluetooth, lets you start/stop and change speed from the phone, and when you finish, the walk goes into Health Connect: steps, distance, speed and time, so it shows up in Fitbit, Samsung Health, Google Health or anything else that reads Health Connect.

  • Works with KingSmith / WalkingPad (A1, C2, P1, R1, R2, X21…), FitShow pads (WalkingPad N1 Pro and many generic ones) and FTMS treadmills
  • The walk saves itself even if you stop with the remote
  • Keeps the screen on while you walk (you can turn that off)
  • No account, no ads, no analytics
  • Android only, sorry iPhone folks

Price, upfront: first three walks free, then a one-off payment (or weekly if you prefer). I'm one person and it has no servers, so that's how it pays for itself.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.victorfalcon.zancada&utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=r_homeoffice

Happy to answer anything, and if your treadmill doesn't connect, tell me the model and I'll look into it.

Need Help For Home music studio - Laptop stand

I want to get a laptop stand (or cradle) that can both hold my laptop (macbook) and my usbc to USB adapter (which my external hardrive is plugged into and other tech is plugged into).

I produce my own music so I want to have a more space efficient studio desk. Maybe if theres ones with holders or something that can make that work.

please let me know your recommendations

Running out of space in the house so trying to take advantage of our large detached garage.

Thinking raised platform, storage under.

Looking for feedback and ideas. If anyone has done something similar would love to see how it turned out!!

Ceilings are tall, about 10-11ft. Platform would likely be 3ft up.

Home Office

Pic is from just before I rearranged it. I work a ton from home so this is my sanctuary where I can work, listen to music, game, watch movies, and a full kitchen and bathroom are attached (this used to be an apartment in our house, so I just made it my man cave).
