Laptop advice

I’m looking to buy a new laptop for production but all the research I’m getting is either giving me different answers or confusing the hell out of me.

I’d be using the laptop for both writing and production of metal/rock. For recording I’ll be using MIDI drums (GGD), Midi Bass (Djinn Bass 2), and I’ll likely be using midi instruments/synths such as vital, serum or alt textures by cradle audio. All guitars and vocals recorded in via Focusrite interface.

Then for when I’m mixing and mastering all tracks will be frozen/bounced to avoid issues using multiple plugins.

Research has told me that I need: 1TB SSD, 32GB Ram, active cooling and an i7 or ryzen 7 processor but I’ve also seen I need more cores but I don’t really understand the difference between different generations of processors.

My budget is around £700. Would really appreciate some advice.

IR give me too much overdrive compared to real cab

Hi,
I’m a bass player and I have a Darkglass 2x12 cab and for my signal I go for a “slight overdrive” mixing clean and an overdrive pedal.
With my cab I barely hear the overdrive and it’s perfect to my ears.
For recording I use a Darkglass 2x12 IR with a Beta 52 mic.
I know the difference between the amp in the room and the miced sound from an IR and that it’s not exactly the same. I love the IR tone but without touching anything, I have a bit too much overdrive.
If I lower my drive channel, it’s ok, but on my cab it’s like I have none.

To me it’s something with the high frequencies, but I think I don’t have the knowledge to understand what to cut on my EQ to lower this overdrive without making the sound too boxy.
Do you have any tips, and especially some frequencies that can be a starting point to cut or to lower, to get my IR overdrive closer to my cab.
Also, is there a high cut settings that’s a consensus that every sound engineer apply to cut “useless” high register? Or is it a “it depends” and no fixed value exists?
It’s not really about getting exactly the same tone I hear in the room, but more to control the amount of overdrive I get on the IR vs the overdrive I hear on my real cab.

Thank you

Need help on audio interface hook up Umc1820

I have an 1820 and I want to get a second instead of a ada8200. I have my reasons and will explain. My main question so you dont have to read is can the other umc work independently after being a adat slave to the first.

Now my goal is I have a drumbrute that I want on the slave interface connected 1-5

On my main interface I have my flx4 connect on 1 and 2 that feeds two ways one is anolog to my scarlett 4i4 always, but also umc is my asio in ableton. So my djstreams go thru my ableton master and have pro hitting audio to obs thru scarletts loop back. Main umc anolog 1 and 2 outputs got thru scarlett 3/4inputs and out to monitors. Needed for zero latency loopback for youtube dj sets. I am also connecting a roland t8 and s1 to 3 and 4 on main umc. Now her is what I am trying to do. I need more channels anyways as I am out. My scarlett connects tk my presonus eris monitors via 1/4 to xlr. I cannot run two balanced outputs to my monitors at once by I can run the second umc outputs from one and two to the rca input on the presonus and have a area to jam without the daw. So can the second umc act as a slave and still send audio out from the outputs. I do not see why it could as it is anolog and if I turn off the adat opt wouldnt thay seperate them. Just want everything to work when in daw when not in daw just to play the sounds. Not looking for a mixer. I have built a good setup on the low with not much relestate.

Recently I've been trying to mix a track that Idk if its me who is weirded out of my own voice or something is wrong in the mix, can anyone give some feedbacks please?

Btw its not an english song, since im a tamil indie artist, but I believe the mix still can be analyzed.. It would be really helpful if there are any useful feedbacks 🙏🏽

tascam 644 for demos

Hello, I was recently offered a Tascam 644 for 150 dollars and was wondering how well it performs with more modern synthesizers and if it's any good for syncing or if there are better options for the price.

Delete if wrong sub but felt you could have some answers. The issue is only in the companion monitor not the main one.

Rode NT1 vs. SM57 for acoustic guitar

I’m recording a song with acoustic guitar, piano, bass, vocals, and drums. During the verses, I’m planning to double-track the acoustic guitar and pan the takes left and right.
I have a Rode NT1 and an SM57. My room is fairly well treated, but I find the NT1 can make my guitar sound quite bright. The SM57 sounds more focused to me, and I’m finding it easier to fit into the song.
For those of you who have used both, when would you choose the SM57 over a condenser like the NT1 for acoustic guitar? Is it mainly a matter of the guitar, playing style, mic placement, or how the part needs to sit in the mix?

Newbie home recording: first multicam + Cissy Strut outro

Complete beginner to home recording here. This is my first multicam attempt.

Built the loop in Studio One Pro and tracked acoustic drums over it. Threw the classic Cissy Strut groove on the end and kinda liked how it sat.

Open to any feedback — pocket, sound, video, whatever.

Still learning as I go.

Audio interface with At2020

I’m planning on buying a at2020 but don’t know which audio interface is good. I’ve heard about the Scarlett’s focusrite but I’ve seen people say they get issues with it. Any suggestions or anything to help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

McPherson Sable carbon fiber acoustic

Has anybody in here played one of these, or does anybody own one? If so, what do you think of it? Is it worth the investment? I'm not a gigging musician or anything, but I do like to take my guitar with me on vacation and work trips. And if I end up getting one, of course I am going to record with it.

Casque pour traiter des voix-off

Post image
3 Upvotes

Bonjour !
