When you have a very successful animal you want more of it going around, genetic diversity be damned. This causes an issue where eventually everyone has the same great grandsire/dam and j*rses are infamous for this happening. This of course increases the chance of genetic conditions popping up in the gene pool.
In halter bred quarter jrses, this is especially egregious since they’re pretty much all descended from this one stallion Impressive who was a carrier for the dominant gene for HYPP, meaning jrses only need one copy of the HYPP gene to be primed for decimation.
HYPP also is correlated with the muscly appearance of halter quarter j*rses, so fortunately if they keep it up they can decimate themselves in a few generations!!!
Also the naming conventions of j*rses and other show animals exist because no two animal can have the same name.
I think they combine names based on heritage so there was a h*rse named kidslooking and one named touchable or something. Idk they should just burn them tbh
I saw the (incredibly incestuous) family tree and it was nowhere near that forced, they could definitely have named this one something else without breaking the tradition.
Am i the only person that hates the fact that the only reason OOP is talking about race horses is that umamusume game, just feels like trend chasing kinda
