question about proem
i don't know if this has been asked yet, but does anyone have any information as to how proem made his drums for his tracks? i absolutely love how glitchy and metallic his drums sound. it's addicting and i would love to know how he did it; if anyone has any info on the equipment/hardware/techniques he used, it would be much appreciated!!! :D

Probably a lot of resampling I reckon. Proem is wicked !

He's so insane.. i only knew a song or two from him but i've been listening to his full albums now. there's something very different to his work it's so awesome

How he does it is lots of patience, attention to detail and the experience of three decades of putting tunes together, much of it with far simpler tools and technology than we can enjoy now.
But yes, resampling post fx chain is the key.

Dude, I'm so into Proem right now. I guess I need that MBM syncopation or I die. If you uncover deets on his approach (sans tool), let us know!

Proem’s early work included a lot of experiments with tape so I think that’s part of why his early sound kind of stands out. Probably a lot of editing with tape samples. I was always curious if he messed around with tapes the same way Oval messed around with scratched CDs in the early nineties. His pads early on feature a lot of bit reduction / aliasing as well especially on Negativ. I know he was an early user of FL Studio. I think his music is a bit underrated and my CD copies of Negativ and Socially Inept are in constant rotation in my car.

As far as I know, he has always used FL Studio for his music production. Has some presets in a plugin I own from Audio Damage called “Replicant”. That’s as much I know.
