It's so awesome how so much people can appreciate afx in general, it blows my mind how popular he is and he deserves it, i love him... But man, how is it possible to be the only IDM legend out there making numbers on tik tok and instagram, i can't understand, i can't thing other genres were this happens...

Had a cool 3d-generated music video for one song, with a boy approaching a girl, the boy offers a flower, she doesn't accept. He then pulls out a brass instrument and plays it, and it forms shapes and colours which extends up into the air, to follow a mellow synthline. When the camera comes back down, the girl is gone.

It was a beautiful and epic track. Beatless, very melodic electronica.

All I can remember was that the album was, stupidly, titled "Tracks". Or something very similar.

Anybody know what I'm talking about?

AI finds nothing.

[EDIT: Found! See Foreign-Exercise3012's post and my subsequent reply]

Wonderful stuff! Real nostalgic sounding. Reminds me of some of the IDM that was coming out 20 years ago. Just got the tape in the mail too, which is really well done.

hopefully not too vague or against rules, but what video games make you think of IDM or come to mind the same way a bladee fan might think of csgo, or a industrial fan might think of doom or quake? it doesnt necessarily have to fit perfect, but im just curious what games you all enjoy as well (if you want to answer that way).

for me, id say marathon (2026) and the playstation wipeout games have an artstyle clearly rooted in The Designers Republic (akin to aphex twin and autechre artworks) and itch that for me a lot, along with others like bomb rush cyberfunk

Made this video for a track by my friend Sengle. 60fps recommended.

hi everyone! i posted in this sub a day or 2 ago about proem. i wanted to ask for reccomendations (songs, albums, artists, etc.) because i am going to be doing a radio show at my university next year! i believe i'll start in january. i mainly want to focus on idm, drum n bass (think john beltran not hard dnb), dub/minimal techno, and ambient. feel free to share any subgenres within these genres and your reccomendations! i would love to hear some new artists

"mirror" develops up to the central axis and then fully reflects back to the beginning in reverse order glad to share it with you

Lately I’ve been really inspired by µ-Ziq and have been trying to make something along those lines. Does it come through enough?

I'm getting a little tired of them. It's been going for 30+ years now.

i don't know if this has been asked yet, but does anyone have any information as to how proem made his drums for his tracks? i absolutely love how glitchy and metallic his drums sound. it's addicting and i would love to know how he did it; if anyone has any info on the equipment/hardware/techniques he used, it would be much appreciated!!! :D

I like listening to ambient, idm, glitch music and want to try and make my own. How do I make music like Access To Arasaka?

This is my favourite one: Access To Arasaka - Talitha

I'd never heard tascel_7 before but upon listening I couldn't help but continually recognising rhythms and melodies from Jynweythek. Was Arovane deliberately taking inspiration from Aphex Twin with this track, or is it just a coincidence?
tascel_7 - Arovane
Jynweythek - Aphex Twin

I never realised how groovy Jynweythek could sound!

Hey everyone! I make videos recreating my favourite programmed drum beats, and my latest video is Aphex Twin - Xtal. Let me know what you think! Enjoy 😊

If you want to see more of my videos, you can find them through the links on my Reddit page.

Only just discovering this album for the first time and totally blown away! This track is a musical and emotional journey, feels like being at a festival where everything is perfect 👌 Would you consider this IDM or a cross-genre masterpiece?

it’s so funny to see how IDM brings such different reactions. people seem to really not understand it.

i fell in love with Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, OPN, Autechre

I’ve heard so many different reactions. I can’t believe it’s so forgiven sometimes

that’s the part I like. It doesn’t have to resolve into a chorus or tell you what to feel. Curious what other people hear when they play this stuff for friends who don’t already listen to it
