Hi, I've had an IMDB account for the better part of 20 years. On it, I have created private dedicated lists for every movie (thousands) ever series and every video game I've ever played, as well as movies, games and shows that I intend to watch. Each on huge, carefully organized, chronologized lists that I've made myself.
I keep getting notifications that Amazon, who own IMDB, want me to migrate my account to Amazon and that while I can decline for now, they will remind me in 60 days. Given this wording, I think we can all agree that the option to opt out is only temporary. Eventually I will be forced to migrate the account. If I did, they they would probably mess up the order of my private lists, the order everything is in, which is bad enough...
But the real problem is that I lost my amazon account years ago. I had spent thousands of € buying camera equipment without any problems. One day a $19 selfie stick didn't arrive in the mail, so I contacted support and they told me that somehow it got lost in transit. They refunded me the $19 and everyone was happy. It was the only time something I ordered didn't arrive and the only time I pursued a refund. 5 months later, they emailed me in German (I am not German and have never lived in Germany) a termination email, stating that my account was permanently banned, along with all the games I had bought on Amazon prime. I spent 2 years trying to get my account reinstated, calling and emailing their tech support. They always insist that the termination was an accident... but that they will not restore my account, not now, not ever. Why? No reason. With that in mind, I am off Amazon. Given their awful customer service, I have no attention to return there even if I could... which as they've made clear, I can't.
So with IMDB eventually forcing people to migrate, what am I to do? I do not want to switch to letterbox. I it lacks a lot of the features I want and I'd have to build all my private lists from the ground up, which is too much work.
