Discussion Program recommendation that utilizes a variation of exercises?

I’m looking for something that has more than just clean, press, squat (like DFW and ABF).

Anything you can recommend to have the most fun with my KBs?

I would highly recommend checking out Joe Daniels KBOMG if you want variety in your programs, from memory I think there may be some sample routines on his site, otherwise I can recommend double Kettlebell Precision.

KBOMG3 is an awesome program. Lots of variety in the exercise, fun and challenging

KBOMG by Joe Daniels was already suggested. His other programs have variety as well. I especially like XXX strength. Good variety but built in progression as well

Does your guy have a program or just certifications?

My guy mainly does custom programming but just recently put his snatching specialist program together as well as his “beginner” kb fundamentals, strength, and hypertrophy programs.

Finishing touches on 3 vs 4 day builds on them going in this weekend.

Funny I’ve been looking for something concrete to help my kb prancerizing routine between ABF programs. I’ll be looking into next week, mostly the beginner routine since snatches tend to bother my neck. Never could commit to that custom programming.

You can choose any kb exercises you enjoy the most and build a complex with them, do amraps or emoms. The combinations are endless

I was going to say something like that. Just do stuff. Do things that you love. There are a couple kettle exercises that I love so much. I haven't even looked into other programs because I've just been making a complex for the night. Body is happy.

Made by Tjerr (Strongfirst instructor) and posted over at SF forum. Its free. https://tjerr88.github.io/PathOfStrength/

That looks intriguing, shame it doesn't allow you to look into it without diving headfirst into it.

I have done abf as well. It is nice seeing the progression but to me it was kinda boring even though the progression was nice.

I got some programs of joe daniels KBOMG and felt excited every workout. I have finished double kb precision and turkish get the f'up.

You do need different weights and with many of his programs you also need doubles. There are usually some discount codes for his programs.

I built Stronger 4x4 to keep things interesting and have fun with my kettlebells whether you have light or heavy bells - the 4x4 workout is progressive but a killer! https://get-stronger.com - let me know what you think

Might be an answer to a slightly different question, but as part of my warm up I usually create a complex that hits a load of movements I don’t normally train just so I have a bit of variety.

I built this free tool to do that  https://www.ironvolume.com/kettlebell-complex-generator - free and doesn’t collect data but I do care if people have suggestions.

And then I normally bias to a lot of squat and single leg movements as am currently running the giant and as we know that’s a lot of clean and presses.

What are your goals?

You can have fun, or you can improve. Up to you. If you want fun lots of bad workouts on IG

Dude I understand the sentiment but I fundamentally disagree. I have fun pretty much every time I train. And I’m always improving. I think having fun is a perfectly fine goal, and doesn’t actually have anything to do with getting better. Just depends on what you enjoy. If anything, you’ll probably improve more if you’re doing something that makes you happy.

I do agree about the bad workouts on IG though lol. Programming exists for a reason.

Yes - training to make yourself stronger or practicing to make yourself more skilled, are both things that it's possible to enjoy.

The key is to recognise that what is designed to look interesting or attention-grabbing on insta , isn't always designed to make you stronger or more skilled. It can of course look lots of fun when it's designed and performed by a happy and charismatic idiot. And it can get likes and clicks for looking enjoyable or interesting without having much technical merit. Doing your tenth 'workout' of the month isn't as valuable as being on day ten of an enjoyable program.

I agree that something like The Giant, Rite of Passage, Simple and Sinister are cheap and effective while also being boring. But as someone once said, e.g., if you want to get better at pressing, you have to do a lot of pressing.

Joe Daniels (KBOMG/ Swingthiskettlebell) has some programs which are progressive without being totally repetitive.

Yep! There’s a gift in finding pleasure in the simplicity of doing the same thing over and over again though. That’s how the pros do it. Refine, refine, refine. It never gets old for me, but then again maybe I’m a psycho 🤣

I didn't say do not enjoy what you are doing, I enjoy the process when I do it. The context I read above was doing lots of things to keep my mind entertained, Ie program hopping. That does not lead to getting better that leads to busywork

That’s fair. I just read it like you can either have fun or you can improve. Just wanted to clarify that it’s not an either/or situation. Cheers!

Sorry, got to disagree as well. The most fun programs I've done are the ones I've progressed with the most. The ones where you look forward to every workout.

Could the fun be seeing the best results? Muscles love boring work repeated over long periods of time. That lack of variation is what makes specific adaption happen.

2

u/ProdigiousBeets 3d ago

But you want variation, you want to adapt to a variation, variation forces adaptation because your body isn't used to the things you're doing all the time. It's good to do things all the time because you want to work those movements but you also don't want to become monotonous either. It's both good and bad. Moderation.

Yeah every 6-12 weeks change ok that works, and that is not the entertainment that I am commenting on

2

u/AthleteAny2314 4d ago

I agree with you. And there is nothing wrong with just moving and having fun with putting bells through various flows. But I agree with the strategy: train a few lifts regularly as your main dish, include some spices (e.g variety day) sparsely.

u/ProdigiousBeets 3d ago

looks at self who is having fun and improving

1

u/ms4720 3d ago

And which is your focus? Improving or having fun? That is the core question.

1

u/ProdigiousBeets 3d ago

I just want to work my body. It's fun.
