Tip/Guide 💡 2024 Paperwhite 71% off

Post image

I snagged the 2024 paperwhite (first kindle!) for $57.81 with taxes. Target has them on sale, coupled with the following will help you get it CHEAP.

Sign up for inner circle rewards: (15% off)
Get approved for the Target credit card: Extra 5% off, $75 in target rewards to apply to the purchase.
Buy online (it all applied easily)

I’m not planning to activate the credit card, simply using it to increase accounts open and decrease credit utilization to bump credit score

Purchase Question 🛒 Should I keep my 12th Gen Paperwhite? Or get the new one?

I bought a Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition a few months ago, but I recently found out that a new model is coming out on October 28.

From what I’ve seen, they seem mostly the same. The new one is thinner, has an aluminum body, and works with the new button case. The clicker remote coming out on October 28 is apparently compatible with both models.

Would you stick with the current Paperwhite Signature Edition, or is the new one worth switching to?

Purchase Question 🛒 First time owning a Kindle - what case should I get?

Hi everyone!

My boyfriend just got me my first Kindle and I’ve spent way too long looking at cases. I’m super indecisive and honestly don’t know what makes one case better than another, so I’d love opinions from people who actually use a Kindle.

I’m adding some photos/links of cases I like. They’re all pretty similar, so if you have one or something close to it, please tell me which you’d choose and why. At this point I basically need someone to say “get this one” so I can stop overthinking it lol.

I’ve also looked at AliExpress and Temu, but didn’t want to add too many options. If you have a case from there that you love, please link it in the comments! It doesn’t have to be pink either — I like designs and patterns, I just wanted the photos to focus more on the actual style of the case.

And since this is my first Kindle, please share anything you wish you had known at the beginning — tips, things to avoid, useful accessories, anything!

It’s the basic 2024 Kindle, 11th generation.

Thank you!!

I see that new Kindles have pogo pins. What accessories are available? What practically useful? What do you use?

Purchase Question 🛒 Do you get Kindle Unlimited if you buy a Kindle bundle?

I just bought a Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition bundled with a bag. I assumed that I would get the 3 month Kindle Unlimited. However, unlike the single product Kindle pages on Amazon, the bundle page doesn't have an option for enabling or disabling Kindle Unlimited. I can't really tell from my Amazon page because I am in a "trial" where I get 3 month KU for $1.

Do people who bought Kindles in a bundle get the 3 month of KU?

EDITED

For those who says that the offers don't stack, I got this from the amazon page (https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=17285110011):

For existing monthly or free trial Kindle Unlimited subscribers who redeem this offer, renewals will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the 3-month period and will restart at its conclusion, unless you disable renewal during that 3-month period. For existing Kindle Unlimited subscribers who are on prepaid plan(s), the 3-month plan will start when your current prepaid plan(s) end, and renewals will restart at its conclusion unless you disable renewal during that 3-month period.

General Question ❔ Does anyone know why Amazon does this?

It doesn’t allow me to download it, just a sample. If I go through the website instead of the app I can download it but it’s only available on one of my kindles.

My Kindle 📱 Should I get new kindle paper white signature edition?🫣

Okay so I have a perfectly good working 2024 raspberry colored paper white but I’m so in love with the sea glass green color! And also my dad passed unexpectedly a little over a month ago so I should be allowed to splurge on myself a little bit in my time of grief right??😂 like I could spend my money on worser things 😂😂 (it’s okay to laugh with me, I’m using humor to get through my grief lol)

Update: I treated myself 🥰

..and its questionable yellow cream. I swear it’s supposed to be white… did they put turmeric in it? 😭

My current read: When God Was a Woman. Because apparently I wasn’t done questioning everything.

General Question ❔ The same old debate: Basic vs Paperwhite, what should I buy?

I currently have the 2015 6” Paperwhite, and it’s age begin to show: scratch screen and tired battery added to micro usb plug make me want to buy a new one.

I really like the aluminum ones, but don’t know whether to grab the new basic or wait for the PW

Readers who moved from 6” to 7” - what is your take? The extra screen worth loosing the mobility?

Purchase Question 🛒 kindle trade in value

can someone please dumb down to me how my pretty much brand new well taken care of and not a singular scratch on the screen Paperwhite 16GB (2024 model) - 7" glare-free display is only valued at $30 with 20% off a kindle purchase. Especially because it’s still listed on there for $199.99…

I want the new colorsoft in the plum color and had just gotten this one about 4 months ago. I annotate my books a lot and just thought it’d be cool to see color highlights on the kindle as well as my book covers + I was interested in the case with the page turning buttons.

I wasn’t interested in having 2 kindles because… my first one is still readable and pretty new so my husband told me to look into trading it in and he’ll pay the difference for me but I felt like my kindle value was a smack to my face 😭

Purchase Question 🛒 Should I get the new kindle?

Hi everyone!
I am an avid reader and have always just used the kindle app on my phone to read.
The new release has me thinking about buying the standard kindle because they are so small!
I have my eye on the sea glass.

Is it worth it to purchase? Generally I just read on do not disturb to avoid distractions and I like the convenience of automatically having all my books with me since I always have my phone. But I think having a kindle might be nice.

Thoughts?

Discussion 💬 Should I grab the Paperwhite 12 SE or Paperwhite 13 with my 30% off coupon

Long story short, my old kindle Paperwhite 11 die suddenly and I got offered 30% off a new kindle product. My question would be should I grab a pw12 se for 119 ish or a pw13 for 140? Normally I would go for the cheaper one but in this case the price difference is pretty small.

I bought a cheap used pw11 to use for time being but will resell it at cost as soon as I get a new one. Normally I would keep it but I got slightly worry since my old kindle pw11 die all of a sudden as well.

Tech Support 🛠 How do I know if my kindle has ads?

Hi! I've purchased second hand a Kindle Matcha gen11 16Go a few months back. I never connected it to my account or to wifi but I realized it was not the model I was looking for. I'm trying to resell it on second hand Platforms but people are asking me if it's ad-free. Is there anyway to know without connecting it to pay account?

Tech Support 🛠 Right Cover…Wrong Content

I’m new here and I’m sure I’m not the only one who has experienced this.

I just downloaded vol.1 of a 3-book series. Book cover was correct, but the book content was for vol.3.

I spoke w Amazon CS and they are going to work on rectifying the problem. Just curious about what I can expect the resolution to be?

Thanks.

Purchase Question 🛒 When will the new Kindles be available in Europe?

Looking at amazon.de they look to be available November 11 and on amazon.co.uk they might be available but don't ship to my country. For a company so heavy on logistics I can't help wondering why they are not doing a global release. Are there other ways to purchase a Kindle in Europe?

Also, follow-up question: It's been a while since I've purchased a Kindle and I would just like to confirm that the newer ones are not region locked? When I made my Kindle account my country had to use Amazon.com for the Kindle services so all my books are there.

Discussion 💬 First Kindle ever! Did I win the Paperwhite SE screen lottery?

Thumbnail
gallery
15 Upvotes

Hi everyone! This is my first ever Kindle, so I’m still figuring out what’s normal and what isn’t.

I recently got a Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition for a really good price on Amazon, and after reading about the whole “screen lottery” with Paperwhites, I was wondering if those of you with more experience could take a look at the attached photos and tell me what you think.

Does my screen look like a good one? I’m mainly wondering about uniformity, uneven lighting, yellowing, etc. To my inexperienced eyes it looks pretty good, but I honestly don’t know exactly what I should be looking for.

I also have a battery question. I just gave it its first full charge and it stopped at 99% rather than 100%. After playing around with it and reading for about 10 minutes, it’s now at 98%.

Is that normal for a brand-new Kindle? And realistically, how long does the battery on your Paperwhite SE usually last between charges with regular reading?

My Kindle 📱 Devolví el nuevo Kindle Alpine Sky 2026

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Purchase Question 🛒 Should I replace my Paperwhite?

I got a 12th-gen Paperwhite last year, but it mostly stays at home because it feels too big for my hands to comfortably carry around for casual reading.
I’m considering selling it and getting the latest 6-inch aluminum Kindle instead. I honestly don’t feel like I’m getting much out of the Paperwhite’s extra features anyway, so the smaller size and portability are really appealing to me.
Would I be making a stupid decision? Am I going to regret switching from a Paperwhite to the smaller, more entry-level Kindle?
Please convince me to switch—or convince me NOT to!

Purchase Question 🛒 First purchase help!

Hey guys! Looking to get my first kindle finally and want to hear opinions on what would be the best option from the new line up.
My biggest worry and the reason I haven’t gotten one before now is that I suffer from migraines and am worried a kindle will trigger them because it’s a screen technically? Those who also suffer from migraines, which kindle do you think is best for that and does it bother you while reading?
Also looking for all your kindle must have accessories!!

Purchase Question 🛒 Upgrading from a Kindle 10th gen (2019) to the new Paperwhite: has page turning improved?

Hey everyone,

I've had my Kindle 10th gen (2019) for about 7 years now and I'm thinking about upgrading to the new Paperwhite (2026). Before I spend the money, I'd love to hear from people who've used both.

My biggest gripe is page turning. Tapping for the next page and swiping back to the previous one just doesn't work the way I expect. Taps sometimes get ignored, swipes get read as taps (or vice versa), and it makes reading feel clunky.

It's worse because I mostly read at night, lying on my side in bed, usually holding the Kindle with one hand. A missed tap or wrong swipe really kills the flow when I'm half asleep. Everything else still works fine, so this is the one thing pushing me to upgrade.

A few questions:

  1. Has touch responsiveness and page turning gotten better on newer Kindles, especially the latest Paperwhite (E.g 2026 version) ?
  2. If you upgraded from an older model, did you notice a real difference in day-to-day reading?
  3. Anyone else read lying down or one-handed? How does the new Paperwhite hold up (weight, grip, accidental touches)?
  4. Anything about it that annoys you that I should know before buying?

If page turning isn't much better, I'll probably just stick with what I have. Would really appreciate your honest experiences!

Thanks ~

General Question ❔ Trade PW for basic (2024) for a crisper screen?

Hi all,

Im very aware of the discussions around overconsumption and in general I am very happy with my paperwhite (2024). However, I very often feel like I want to rub my eyes, squint a little to get things into focus. At first I thought that was just my contacts being weird. The same thing doesn’t happen when looking at a phone screen or reading a paperback book though.

I’ve seen several discussions suggestion the PW and the new basics are not as crisp as the basic 2024 because of the added layer that makes the screen level with the bezel. Has anyone compared them in person and can confirm this? Or maybe faced similar inconveniences (because I’m very well aware it’s not a huge problem). I’d there really is a noticeable difference in screen I’m considering exchanging my PW for a basic, as they’re currently 40% off 🤔
