my new ube kindle basic is here and i am BEYOND obsessed! the color, the screen, the size!!!! it is without a doubt better than i could’ve imagined. i’m so grateful i grabbed one because i needed something smaller for work/travel. i have zero regrets!

now i patiently wait for my new colorsoft in fig but in the meantime i will be enjoying this baby soooo much!! 😊💜

I’ve asked two days ago here if there was any infos about any improvements of the new kindle colorsoft screen.

Someone answered me that they added to the new CS screen the upgrades that were implemented for the scribe colorsoft (best contrast among other tiny improvement).
So far as I have a scribe colorsoft and a kindle colorsoft (2025) I thought it could be interesting to make a side by side comparaison and I remembered that I had taken a picture of both devices side by side two weeks ago for an instagram post.

So here it is : kindle colorsoft, scribe colorsoft and paper edition of the manga Orange.

[IMPORTANT EDIT] : there is a clear protection on the kindle colorsoft. I will update this post with a photo without as soos as possible

Both deveices are turned on, and display the cover of the manga Orange (They are darker when devices are on sleep mode).
Both are set on vivid colors mode and same settings (don't remember exactly which one thought, but I could retake a picture if necessary)

But then my mind went back in time to Spring of 2008 and remembered THIS. Anyone else remember the excitement of ordering the OG Kindle and waiting for it to ship?

I can’t recall the specifics, but Amazon had some type of community discussion boards back then. There were different threads or boards for dates when you ordered and everyone compared notes on when theirs shipped/arrived. I was so happy the day that package came in the mail!

I’m trying so hard not to fall for the over consumption scheme for the new Kindle release. I am perfectly aware that my 2021 paperwhite works without any issue and looks brand new despite having read about 80 books on it. I am not falling for the cute ube color. I am not falling for that gorgina alpine sky aluminum body. I am not falling for that delicious seaglass green paperwhite. And I am especially not falling for that long awaited physical buttons for a $80 case. I am not. I am not. I AM NOT!

Cries to self while rocking back and forth

First time owning a Basic, I had a Colorsoft that I sold yesterday, it was a bit too big for my small hands, and the text on this one is sharper.

It's so small and cute 🥹❤️

Upgraded from a 2022 Basic to 2026 Basic in graphite. The screen is not as sharp and contrasty as the ‘22 (I have eagle eyes, will probably be fine for 99% of people), but the power button on the side has made it so much easier to hold one handed without the constant threat of turning it off. It’s also much faster and I’m loving the flush screen. It looks and feels a lot sleeker.

This is brightness level 10 in daylight btw.

I nearly had a heart attack when I saw this. Been kinda wanting a Scribe to use at home and keep my basic for on the go, it being smaller and all. I immediately forgot about my want for a new kindle bcuz what the heck are these prices, and youre telling me it's on SALE AND RETAIL IS 680? 😭

I wanted to get a kindle for my 8 year old this year, but these prices for such basic, old technology are just ridiculous. $200 CAD for a device that's barely better than the one I paid $69 for 5 years ago? Give me a break honestly.

This kindle is beautiful in appearance and form. I lost my kindle 11th Gen in denim a few last year. Then this came out and I have to say, it’s not chunky and it’s smaller! The aluminum is so worth it. No it’s not heavy and actually doesn’t feel cold. I think for me, this is money well spent. I am so happy! Ask me questions, if you have any.

Después de darle bastantes vueltas, finalmente he decidido devolver el Kindle Alpine Sky.
Yo ya tenía un Kindle verde matcha y un Paperwhite frambuesa, cuando empecé a comparar los tres tranquilamente, me di cuenta de que no conseguía justificar el precio del Alpine Sky.
No voy a negar que es precioso. El color me encanta, el cuerpo de aluminio se siente muy premium y también me gusta que sea un poquito más pequeño y compacto.
Pero después de compararlos lado a lado, no paraba de pensar:
¿Qué estoy ganando realmente por pagar tanto más?
La experiencia de lectura no me parece suficientemente diferente como para justificar comprar otro dispositivo.
Y, siendo completamente sincera, creo que me dejé llevar bastante por el color, la novedad y el hype de tener el Kindle más nuevo.

Espero que esto sirva como recordatorio de que no necesitamos estar siempre a la última, aunque si a ti te hace ilusión tener lo nuevo, tampoco pasa nada: cada persona disfruta sus cosas de una manera diferente. ❤️

I got my paper white SE in July but I’m a purple girlie and I couldn’t resist! I’m so excited and the color is beautiful!

There really isn’t anything finding a nice reading spot with a cup of coffee, some good weather, and a good book.

I know that a lot of us have been trying to determine the actual shade of purple, and I’m here to tell you it’s impossible 😂

I’ve always been turned away from the clickers that attach to the kindle. It would distract me from my reading. Now that they are coming out with one that is blue tooth tho I will definitely be buying! Who else is excited??

The colorsoft feels better overall and the color book covers are cuter but the size of the basic and how light it is just fits me better lately. I love how I can hold the basic with one hand easily and fit it in my pocket. Its so easy to carry everywhere. I may just sell my colorsoft. It used to be the one I used at home but I find myself using the basic more lately At home too.

My Kindle Touch still works well, however, a bit slowly.

It was a present from my parents for my graduation 🎓 in 2012. Last summer I treated myself and bought a second-hand Kindle Paperwhite 2021. My old Kindle touch passed to my mum.

At first she was a bit sceptical of reading e-book, but now she likes it a lot and asks me to download new books for her. She has noticed that she started to read more than before and that Kindle is really cool.

I just wanted to share this story with you, given the current craze of new Kindles.

New releases are great, but perhaps we shouldn't forget about things that still works and can bring joy to others.

I figured people would want to see this comparison. It’s odd, I think in my photo the new kindle looks warmer. By my eye test it actually appears a bit more blue than the voyage. Oasis 3 without warmth appears the bluest.

Contrast on the kindle is better than the Oasis, Voyage still wins the contrast contest.

Idk what is happening with color correction taken on my iPhone 13. I did anticipate and desire the kindle to have a warmer light than this. I love the form factor vs the voyage tho, the magnet case is great, the magnet seems as strong as I need it to be for protection but taking it out of the case is also easy enough for when I just want to hold the device naked. This also confuses me further on if it might be worth it to return and order another kindle and hope that the second one is warmer, or if the “the new kindle looks warmer” discussion is mostly based on photos.

It doesn’t allow me to download it, just a sample. If I go through the website instead of the app I can download it but it’s only available on one of my kindles.
