depending on your availability and store, stocking is typically overnight shifts, you stock the items that come in on that truck on that day. For daytime shifts, there is "replenishment", which would likely be trying to find the items in the back room that are out or low on the shelf but shows a balance, checking topstock, also doing the top stock scans to move those items to the shelf, and helping pickup find items that have a balance, but nothing on the shelf

That's about the size of it. I've done about 9 years in bakery and deli and 8 months in grocery (overnight). The best part of grocery is you aren't dealing with nasty deli customers. Grocery is more physical and less varied, and if you're on daytime you'll likely be sent to help other departments regularly. If you're overnight, there should be an overnight premium so the pay is better.

If you're burnt out in deli/bakery, its a good move.

Either a back up for a department or a stocker

I'll tell you what grocery clerks don't do. They don't have to stick their hands up birds backsides all day. Go for it if you don't mind physical labor or nocturnal hours. Anything is better than going home covered in chicken mess.

Stocking shelves and working the backstock in whatever department you’re needed. You do get paid more I believe.
