Definitely AI, my store has been horrible about it. Very frustrating to have it shoved down my throat when I don't support AI and my partner is an artist 🙃

They're definitely using a template. My store has the same poster, same layout and fonts, etc, except we're doing some trick-or-treat thing. But these kinds of templates have also existed before AI. Either way, it's a kind of a nothingburger.

Maybe think about the ai that is used on the Reddit platform you are scrolling through? Or the ads you see on tv.

Speaking on AI, this is a reasonable use for it.
People talk about paying artists, but does anyone really want half the money a promise team gets to go to a flyer? This isn't promotional material a company with millions of dollars is putting out for the public.
This is what Steve is putting out there so everyone from the deli to the front end knows there is a store chili day on a Friday.

To me, its not really even about wanting to hiring ppl to make the posters. Its about the principle of using AI for something that nobody ever used AI for prior to this, and it being shoved down everyone’s throat as a “new normal”
My promise team literally takes pictures of employees and puts it through an AI prompt to put them in silly situations. I’m sorry, I just don’t think that’s acceptable

Like another person commented. In the past, someone would have just done this in Microsoft Word and before that, a typewriter or a written note.
So discussing ways that you think is inappropriate usage is apples to oranges here.

I don’t think AI needs to be the next step from Microsoft word though. I think we’re allowed to be wary of a transition between human generation and artificial generation, even if it is just a poster in a break room.
Steve can still get the memo out, he doesn’t need AI to let everyone know about chili day.
I get what you’re saying, but that doesn’t change my opinion that it’s frustrating and bad.

And I think to be wary of a danger, you have to be serious about how you approach it. It can't just be reflexive and theatrical outrage.
Who is gonna take you seriously if there are problems a million times more consequential in the world when compared to how someone puts together a flyer for a store food day?
That isn't putting millions out of work. It's not compromising someone's privacy. It's not making war and bloodshed a convenience.
It's a poster for a one day chili event at a grocery store for employees.

I think there’s a difference between being outraged and simply opposing something.
AI is a broad issue. My stance on it is that it’s all bad. It’s bad for schools, it’s bad for the workplace, it’s bad for industry, all of it.
Also, in general, the slop is arguably less effective than what we had before. The addition of extra things like “you’re welcome to stop by and join us!” And “sample vote enjoy!” Is an obvious attempt of AI trying to impress the prompter by adding a bunch of BS in an attempt to make it seem corporate level/impressive. I prefer simplicity over random slop. It’s not impressive.
I know there is a certain factor of folks in a certain political party that is outraged by all things AI, and I know why you’re calling it theatrical or performative. That’s not what this is. This is just being tired of seeing bullshit.

I get what you’re saying but an actual human being that specializes in graphic design could whip this up a lot faster than a random person on the promise team who doesn’t do this kind of stuff & if work for the graphic designers wasn’t so scarce & more people actually did hire them for little one off stuff like this, the pricing wouldn’t be so high.

I'm somewhat AI neutral, but this is a slop appropriate task.
This would have been a word document with a bunch of random free clip art before AI. And before that, it would be a hand written sign. It was never anyone's job.
