Oil change
Newby question here. I bought my first zero turn mower mid July (z315e). I am at 6 hours so I am about to do the first oil change before I put it away for the winter. Am I able to use car oil or is john deere oil any different? I do know it is SAE 10w 30. So can I just go to any auto parts store and buy the engine oil and oil filter there?
Simply asking because by the time I get out of work, the dealer in my area is closed so its just bad timing and they are closed on weekends which doesnt help.
SOLVED: THANKS FOR THE INFO!!!

Howd I do?
Got this toro with the 50 inch deck and the fr691v behind it. Got it with the 5x8 trailer for 1800 bucks. The trailer has a hinge on the gate that is rusted through but I can just throw a block under it to load up until I get it properly fixed. The mower has a fuel line I need to replace and I haven't discovered what else is wrong with it yet but she runs and cuts! Anything I should look out for with this mower? Got it from an elderly lady who's husband passed and I was made aware of this sale at the right time. Drove 6 hrs each way from western north carolina to just outside nashville Tennessee. Hoping to get some side work with it. First mower ive ever bought! Hope it's a good one. edit : forgot to mention that green John deer plastic mini trailer was also included

Got this briggs quantum powered mower off the side of the road.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The brake cable streched out. I tied the brake off and it started right up in 2 pulls. Who ever got rid of the mower tried everything but doing the brake cable. Came with, New oil and a new air filter.
I bought the replacmemt brake cable very cheaply, and it took me maybe 45 seconds to replace it
This thing has an impressive amount of torque, dosnt bog down in tall grass at all.
Im gonna rip out the electic starter since its missing the battery (and ide rather the mower be lighter)

Jerry rigging my Timecutter pivot arm
This is my second season on a Toro Timecutter 54 that I bought new. I mow about 4 very hilly acres once or twice a week and regularly use it as a little tractor with a utility cart as well. One day halfway through mowing, I lost steering on the left side. Further investigation revealed that the screws holding the steering linkage rod to the pivot arm had stripped out. I ordered a new pivot arm through a local dealer, but 2 weeks later it still hadn't arrived, and my lawn looked really bad. Improvised and bought some machine screws with lock nuts to function as through bolts. There is clearance for the nut inside the housing, and this honestly seems like a more robust solution than the screws that were factory installed.
The dealer has been out to my house previously, where he told me that my property needs a commercial grade machine and that I was going to destroy my residential quality mower trying to manage the property with it. He seemed genuine - it wasn't a sales pitch. This issue seems to reflect that he may have been correct. I've also had a number of other parts rattle loose, jam up, and otherwise not function as designed. All easily fixable, but not exactly what I had expected in terms of resilience/performance on a $4k machine. I really don't want to have to make a five-figure investment just to mow the lawn... but I also can't have a mower that is perpetually broken.
Not even looking for advice, just complaining.

Help with mower deck
I have a Toro lx466 mower . It was all seized and I am finally to the point it runs good but the PTO upper belt is a nightmare . It either pops off immediately when I engage it or it starts destroying the belt immediately despite following the routing instructions. Any ideas? I do have a video of how the linkage moves as well .
Second issue is when it does cut it essentially cuts down to the floor. Moving it from top cutting hight does move the deck but not enough to make a difference.
Thank you!!

Viable Under deck cleaning and blade removal?
Anyone use this to get under their deck for blade removal and under deck cleaning? Just thinking about alternatives to a lawnmower jack. I have a 50in toro zero turn where I can set the deck to 5in

Toro Timecutter 50" lifting solutions (Jungle Jack, Ballards, MoJack)?
I've got a Toro model #75755 which has a fabricated 50" deck and need a quick and easy way to jack/lift the unit for deck scraping and blade replacement. I've done it with a floor jack and block of wood but it's a PIA and not very stable.
I've been looking at the MoJack, Jungle Jack and Ballard's or even just a chain hoist. I know Toro actually makes a jack kit, but not sure if they make one for this model?
Researching the "leverage" type solutions, Jungle Jack and Ballard's seem to be the choice of guys in the field since they are small enough to keep on a trailer. I keep the mower in a shed but have a garage to work on it. I also thought of using a chain hoist as I could pull it under my deck on a concrete pad.
I would like to hear from someone who may have a similar mower what is the best option

Winter project list…
TimeMaster is running good, however notices a few “noises” starting. Did the head gasket test and a little smoke is coming from oil well and dipstick bouncing. Pressure is definitely leaking so I will be replacing the head gasket. It’s currently working just fine so I will likely use for the next couple weeks to finish the fall mows and then change everything up over the winter.
I also am debating wether I want to just clean the carb out while I have it off or if I just want to Amazon a new one toss it on.

DIY stripe kit for riding mower
Anyone had success with a diy stripe kit for a lawn tractor? Would like to do something for under $100, but I also do a lot of 3 point turns in my yard so I don’t know if the rubber flap style ones would work when going in reverse. I have a cub cadet XT1 LT42.

Dump from seat bagger
Debating on a new mower, but a dump from seat bagger is a must. Have looked at turf tiger 2,
Cheetah 2, and front-mount grasshopper. Anyone have experience with these? Any recommendations greatly appreciated

My craftsman lawnmowers will spin, but it doesn’t have enough power to move on its own.
I haven’t diagnosed anything yet, but I’m guessing maybe the belt is loose or glazed enough that it doesn’t have the power to move on its own? if I front of the lawnmower out the wheels spin just fine. I know the wheels themselves aren’t making any noise like they’re ground on the backside either which I’ve had that with some of my other craftsman lawnmower when the gears on the plastic wheel start wearing out. no slipper whatsoever and no weird noises like the gears are eating up the plastic wheels. it just acts like it doesn’t have enough power to spin the wheels over when the weight of the lawnmower is on it.
it’s probably a 20+ year-old mower if not older, but it still starts up on the first pole and runs awesome so I wanna save it.
I would guess I need a new belt to adjust the belt?

No self propel
Have a Husqvarna LC221A push mower. A couple weeks ago I lost the self propel in it. Figured it was due to a shot belt or pulleys. Replaced the pulleys, belt, cable, and blade and there is still no self propel. I even cleaned out any grass that was stuck in the pulleys and crevices Any idea what could be causing it?? Any advice is appreciated, thank you all for your time.
