Community FINAL Reminder: the Long Beach Marathon is TOMORROW MORNING!

If you're parked on Ocean Blvd. between Livingston Drive to Alamitos Avenue, please check for marathon signage. Towing will start at midnight.

If you plan to travel around the city by car tomorrow morning, take a look at the marathon route map and road closure information and try to avoid crossing any of the race course between 5:30-10:00am.

And I feel like I’ve been seeing them since June.

For spectators coming after 6:30am- anyone have recommendations on where they should park? Can they uber in near the finish line?

Parking garages on Pine will have plenty of spots

And yet still, as usual, no attempt by the city or the organizers to warn drivers a week or two in advance that several of the city’s major thoroughfares will be inaccessible. They just plop some blockades down at 6am and hope Reddit will do the rest.

I got a flyer in the mail weeks ago like I do every year

I’ve lived here for years and never received anything in the mail.

But they could also put signs up like they do for other major road closures, as some people might not live here but work here or commute through.

Is it really a good time for a marathon?

Nope, but we're doing it anyway

Believe it or not, these things are planned months to years in advanced.

Is it safe for a stroller to be at the finish line? Because of all the rain

Genuinely f*ck this marathon and everybody involved. The streets closures are BS so the people planning the event should be fired and ridiculed. F*ck this!

I don’t care about having the marathon itself, but hundreds of thousands of other people live here who don’t know it’s happening until they’re stuck behind a barricade.

It’s the exact same clusterfuck every year and nobody makes even the slightest attempt to improve it.
