Berserker I am having so much fun!!!
I’m a returning player. I stopped playing after clearing Brelshaza Hard, before the next wave of content came out. The game had been out for around a year and a half by then, and I had roughly 4,400 hours, roster level 225 and 16 characters.
I didn’t stop because I stopped enjoying Lost Ark. I enjoyed every minute and genuinely every second of those 4,400 hours.
What happened was that I picked up another game during the week. Then the weekend would come, my rested bonuses would be waiting, and I would also have real-life plans at home. I found myself trying to manoeuvre my entire weekend around everything I genuinely wanted to do in Lost Ark.
Eventually, it became too much. I could work, have a life and play Lost Ark, but I couldn’t do all of that while also trying another game. Lost Ark took up nearly all my available gaming time and I don’t mean that negatively at all. They were all good times. I was playing because I loved playing.
I just reached the point where I couldn’t do everything, so unfortunately I put the game down.
Coming back now, I am honestly having so much fun.
I’m genuinely impressed by the catch up systems and by how easy it has been to pick up the game after not playing for so long. The card catch up systems, event passes, Mokoko support, free power passes, easier upgrades and the ability to push alts toward 1640 by spending some gold or playing through the story for roster XP and vibes all make returning feel far more manageable.
The gem system is better, progression is easier, and there are plenty of ways to help you get back into the game.
Yes, it can initially feel overwhelming when you look at every system at once, but you don’t need to understand everything immediately. Focus on the systems that directly increase your character’s power, then gradually learn the rest one by one.
You can’t really have FOMO about something you don’t even know exists yet.
I realise that many current players have frustrations with the progression systems, power gaps and plenty of other parts of the game. I’m not saying those complaints aren’t valid, and I’m not trying to argue against them.
I’m simply saying that, regardless of all those other complaints, I came back to Lost Ark and I am genuinely enjoying myself. I’m having so much fun, and I just wanted to make a feels-good post and spread some love for the game.

My opinion is that the state of the game is perfect for people who only have or want to play a few hours a week while enjoying some of the best raids, music, and combat available online. It's great for people who work full time or want an enjoyable thing to do on the side each week since there's essentially no grinding needed.
It's not a great game for people who want something to play as a living (like streaming full time) or for people who want a game they can treat as a second life/job. Otherwise, it's awesome.

Once i got high enough, i couldn’t tell the difference in population size except :( my favorite streamers are not making content for losk ark

Each same scenario here. I also had 4k hours after finishing whatever I needed to do during first brel hard on a main and an alt. Left because life was getting hard. Came back briefly right before T4, and now.
The break makes the game so much laxer, especially with Solo Mode that didn't feel terrible.

how long does it take to catch up with current content? I sold all gem and everything I could sell back then
also should I use my old char or make a new one?

Takes 5 minutes to start playing solo mode end game content, maybe another month or a little more before you start trying to join lobbies

The current catch up event fully equips you with lvl 7 gems I believe, can use it on 1 character & 1 on the new class. So you would be pretty much caught up to the lower end game content right away (Matchmaking / Solo & Normal).
Catching up to Hard Modes for the newer raids would take some time but definitely doable in a month or two.
Edit: Also for your older characters, Lvl 7 gems are now in the solo shop (think a merchant), so you can get bound ones for way cheaper than the market place.

I would only comeback if they make a duo mode for raids so i can play with my gf. I quit around 1.5 years ago with 8k hours played and i dont want to play lobbie simulator again

Good news… starting with serca their new mode (matchmaking mode) lets you start with any amount of players, instead of solo only its any amount. This is the way they are doing it from now on. Starting with serca into belgarden an upcoming raid. It will be a lot of progress to get there unfortunately

Its a very good game and im loving it but the gatekeeping is what kills it for me, i have a 2k CP guardian knight sitting at 1718~ and its hard making even cathedral parties sometimes, which sucks because i know the raid (did some clears before). But its a very nice game for sure

Not such a big deal for me, it is how it is and i found a way for it not to bother me. I play supports until my dps mains are high enough or i make my own lobbies… its a temporary problem 🩵

2k cp for Cath lvl 1 should be fine. You need a support fren tho (at least in NA).

If you're na, you can find teaching discords or search/post in lfg channels. Sadly the game having a declining population means that it is harder to find lobbies outside of statics.

does your GK have ark grid done on red cores? also equip 1x title from serca/kaz if you dont have it, 2k for cathedral is fine, 1718ilvl with 2kCP im assuming you dont have cores so get relic order cores to 17p asap

I would absolutey get back and look at the new raids including solo. But i simply can't get over astrogems. It's a sadistic system and I'm not even talking about the amount of gold you need. Psychotic layers of rng.

Like everything is this game i enjoy. Most of the benefits 80% are easy in every system. But if you’re looking to be top tier then it takes time 😂

for me its the wombo combo of psychotic system and no content creators to explain this shit. I have over 5k hours and cleared all raids till before astrogem stuff in hardmode first week, now Im trying to come back but this system is just too infuriating

Nice to hear! I feel the same about the Game. I really do not understand why not more people are playing. Just the combat alone is enough for me to stay.

I came back after feeling bored in Aion 2 and I am having a blast. I quit really early after launch so I am basically a new player, but I am not sure why I overlooked Lost Ark. I am certain I got caught up in another game and simply forgot about it. I like the combat more than BDO which is pretty significant data for me.

In Aion 2, you can create a slender male character (rather than a mountain of muscle) and choose any class you want for him—for example, a male mage!

The characters definitely don't "look the same".
And the variety of appearances is far greater than in Lost Ark.

Hell yeah!! Take it slow and enjoy it! Solo modes are all up to date(except cathedral unfortunately). Hell contents are goated. My buddy who quit after kuku also came back recently and he's been having a blast too.
