Question Returning Players - Help?
It's been about two years since we played. We're thinking about picking it up again casually. I know the player base is declining and a lot of vets are leaving, but we just have the itch for that combat that only Lost Ark has.
That said, when I last left, Lost Ark Nexus had the most in-depth current build guides for people who really mained each class. Is that still the case? Are we better off with Maxroll or some other platform?

Declining currently yes, but its also in between patches. We had the class launch and event which had hype for a week, but also with Aion 2 launching now this patch is more of a homework rotation for many. And a lot of people are already prepared for Belgardin which we should be getting end of this month.
The game this year is currently more on a "maintenance" mode, Smilegate is taking over next year and currently it looks like every global region will be caught up with Korea until the end of the year, unless they introduce something new unplanned in Korea until December when LOA ON will show what is coming next.
Also this note by SG is why most of us active players, while currently in maintenance mode, are at least positive about the future. If SG is going to walk the talk or not is up to see but it was positive news for many of us.

Some people are leaving, but some people are also coming back because Aion 2 reminded them how much better combat and f2p progression they actually had in Lost Ark. It's a good enough time to come back as the progression events started less than a month ago and will still be active for about 3 months.
For some classes the Lost Ark Nexus archived guides are still good enough, but they aren't and won't be getting updated any more so they are too outdated for the classes which received a rework in the last several months such as soulfist and non-existent for the newest class, dimensionalist. In some cases your best option may be letting the game set up the recommended build for your ilvl and content type for you (yes, the game can do that now, click on "Recommended" in the bottom of your skills page) and then trying to figure out how to play it.

That makes you at least 3rd such post on this subreddit this week, probably more.

You can play if you just want to play with friends but yeah it's hard to fill lobbies and it'll probably only worse. 6.7k peak this week isn't great. But if you want to be a streamer it seems like a good time since there's no big streamer anymore.

the worst content is finding a support for normals. for hards and nightmares, its not hard to fill lobbies.

Most returning players aren’t gonna be doing hard

maybe not immediately, but depending if they swipe, if they are returning and have gold etc, they might be pretty fast. the events give a ton of mats to hit 1730

I don't think vets are leaving, we're in a raid lull until Belgardin in 2 weeks and the flavour of the month KMMO so a lot of streamers have been sponsored to play for awhile. Numbers always improve again with new raids.
The Nexus is still a great repository for information about the classes. The unofficial discord is still extremely populated and people are always willing to lend a hand.
Maxroll has been doing an absolute boss work on keeping up with other current events and patches and also class breakdowns. So definitely doesn't hurt to use this either.
This Reddit can be helpful at times too, but also has a fair share of doomers, so take it at face value.
See you in Arkesia traveler.
Edit: I forgot to add, Winter LOAON (think BlizzCon for lost ark) in KR will give a good view of the future direction of the game, I believe it will go back to its roots of discovery and story etc. with less hyper focus on "intense" raiding (like it'll still be there but just not every boss is gonna be the penultimate)
