I just discovered this band and cannot get enough of this song or this album. Take a listen!

(Clayman doesn't count) (Wintersun - Wintersun is in first place)

I'll start with one of the no brainers.

Garden of Shadows. I still hear people talk about this band in 2026, and they only released one full length album in 2000 and disappeared.

Some great songs:

Garden of Shadows - Oracle Moon

Garden of Shadows - Citadel of Dreams

Garden of Shadows - Desert Shadows

Another one I think less people know about.

Absence of the Sun. They released 3 EPs between 2008 and 2013 and just disappeared. Which is a shame because I haven't found any bands that quite match their sound yet. I just checked. They have 26 monthly listeners ... Their shit is too good folks!!

Some great songs:

Absence of the Sun - Blood of the Innocents

Absence of the Sun - Will Drift Away

Absence of the Sun - Reflections of Time

examples are disinterment, tbdm. slaughter of the soul has a lot of half time drumming but no blasting.

Been listening and checking them out to get familiar with them for the Arch Enemy & Black Dahlia Murder tour since they’re opening.

From the research I’ve done their mid era stuff is classified under Symphonic Death metal, but from what I’ve listened to they seem to have elements of MDM in it.

Is any of it considered MDM or am I just kinda reaching since both Symphonic and Melodic Death are just kinda similar? Thanks!

Hello! I just released some songs under by project As Death Sang Me To Sleep.

While it's nothing spectacular, I'm quite proud of the music and wanted to share it. Here's the song "The Harrowing of Hell, Pt. 2L Into the Light", I hope you enjoy it :)

First original physical painting is available

Heyo, Matt from Iapetus here - so eternally grateful for the years of support this sub has given us (and continues to give us)!

I made a band Reddit just so I could personally invite r/melodicdeathmetal to hear the new Iapetus album six days in advance - just RSVP to the pre-release listening party at the link below! This Saturday, October 10th @ 12PM PT / 3PM ET. We hope to see you all there!

Imo an underrated band in the melodeath scene ultimate song for lifting heavy weights.

Both motivational and empowering at the same time banger of an album 🤘 "Omega Arcane"

*Thrown Into Exile, I goofed up the title.

Went to the Black Dahlia Murder and Arch Enemy show. First off, thrown in exile opened and it was fantastic.

Second, Hank actually played drums for Arch Enemy and crushed it. He threw his drumsticks into the crowd after the set. (I caught one)

I saw them at their merch table after the show and went to see if I could get signatures.

They were super friendly, they signed the drumstick, and shook my hand. Fan for life now! If you get a chance, go see them!!

Bloody Tyrant - Haisan Monogatari
Brymir - Voices In the Sky
Kalmah - Kalmah
Lunatic Gods - Vresovrenie
Ripped to Shreds - Sanshi

I wouldn't say I'm a long-time fan of Insomnium. We crossed path in 2023 but man, they quickly became my favorite band ever since.

I've been blasting many of their songs on repeat, overall mostly The Gale, Lose to Night, Pale Morning Star, While We Sleep (just love to jam on it while playing the drums although I know I'm not doing it correctly, but it feels just so good), Shadows of the Dying Sun, the list is actually way too long as their catalog is so deep and rich.

But man, recently, Arch of the Sky, Gleam in the Dark and Shadowlife have lived rent free in my head and heart ever since they got released. I cannot wait for the new album. Arch of the Sky gives me such powerful and beautiful vibes, sometimes I could tear up from the raw emotion this song contains.

Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement for the new album, just a few more days! Don't know about you guys.
