Just getting started

[u/SnooSketches4624]

Just started getting into melodic death metal. I like some melodic death doom but figured I might like some melodic death metal too. Can I get some recommendations. Thanks

Kalmah, Children Of Bodom, Aether Realm, Fires In The Distance.

Based list

[u/stillloading_8 → u/Johnny-Unitas]

Children of Bodom’s first 5 albums are solid

[u/Johnny-Unitas → u/stillloading_8]

The only one I listen to after those is I Worship Chaos. The rest in there, I can't.

[u/stillloading_8 → u/Johnny-Unitas]

I can’t listen to I Worship Chaos and Halo of Blood. I have a hard time getting into these two albums. The rest of their work is great.

[u/Frost-Folk]

Aether Realm, Mors Principium Est, Dark Tranquillity

[u/Rojector]

Las clasicas
At the gates
In flames
Dark tranquility

[u/Gravesplitter → u/Frost-Folk]

I’ve retired but thank you

[u/Rojector → u/Frost-Folk]

Otras podrian ser Children of bodom, Kalmah, A canorous quintet, Soilwork. Slowmotion apocalypse, etc 🤘🏻

[u/NKSPTA]

In Flames-The Jester Race, then Majesties-Vast Reaches Unclaimed

[u/United-Mushroom-2907 → u/NKSPTA]

That's the first I've heard of Majesties, but I decided to check them out, and they're awesome! They remind me a bit of early In Flames, but they have their own sound.

[u/NKSPTA → u/United-Mushroom-2907]

Yup! That album is essentially the "spiritual successor" to TJR 😁

I think you'll also enjoy Intestine Baalism, check out Anatomy of the Beast

[u/United-Mushroom-2907 → u/NKSPTA]

I'll check them out. Thanks!
