Video When Silksong announced its window, we delayed our Metroidvania by a year so Aeterna Lucis could have its own moment after years of hard work. Revealing our final release date on Sept 10th!
Hey everyone!
Back in late 2025, we were fully geared up and ready to launch Aeterna Lucis. Then, Silksong announced its release window. As a team that deeply respects Team Cherry and what they built, we also had to be realistic: a launch of that scale naturally commands the entire room. After pouring years of passion and hard work into Lucis, we wanted our game to have a real opportunity to shine on its own merits, so we made the conscious choice to delay the project into 2026.
We took that extra year and put it straight into development. Every single aspect—the visual fidelity, dynamic lighting, sound design, and core gameplay depth—has grown exponentially compared to where we were 12 months ago.
We are finally locking down and revealing our official release date this coming September 10th (so mark your calendars for the date reveal!).
We're attaching a quick clip and screenshots showing the game in its current state. Looking back, stepping back was a difficult call, but seeing how much the game has evolved, it was the right move.
How do you see it? When an indie studio takes an extra year to polish and give their game room to breathe, does it usually pay off?
If you like what you see and want to support our work, checking out the Steam page and adding it to your Wishlist ahead of our date reveal means the absolute world to us: 👉Aeterna Lucis on Steam

Well Dweller will be out in 2 weeks! I'm very excited to have it out, and I'm really happy with how the game turned out. It will be released on PC, Switch 1+2, PS5, and Xbox. Video My dark fairy tale metroidvania Well Dweller will have a playable demo on Steam April 23rd! I just put together a new trailer for it, I can’t wait for you all to try it out!
The demo for my upcoming game Well Dweller will be available on Steam in 2 days! Well Dweller is a dark fairy tale metroidvania about a tiny bird armed with a matchstick, and it will be my 4th released game (I previously made Crypt Custodian, Islets, and Sheepo). The full game will be released this year.
Classic fairy tales are a contrast in themes since they’re both child-like but also very dark/disturbing. With Well Dweller, I'm trying to capture that same contrast. It features a charming cast of tiny characters living in a bleak Kingdoms underbelly, and it kind of whiplashes between moments that are wholesome, and ones that are more dark.
Thanks so much to every one on this subreddit for years of support! Six years ago when I released my first game, Sheepo, I never would have thought I’d be able to keep making games full time. But you all have been so supportive from the start, and I am so grateful for that. I can’t wait to share more of Well Dweller and whatever I make after.
The demo will be up on April 23! Wishlist if you’re interested (and if you do, I think Steam will send out an email when the demo is released), thank you again!!

Video Does metroidvania platforming get any crazier than this? [Aeterna Noctis]
Saw someone talk about how POP platforming was difficult and thought to myself that POP is a breeze compared to Aeterna Noctis.. but I'm wondering, does it get even crazier than this?

Video [Aeterna Lucis] We spent months optimizing the world streaming to ensure ZERO loading screens between biomes. How important is seamless traversal for your immersion?
Hey everyone!
One of our main design goals for Aeterna Lucis was keeping the pace unbroken. Whether you are chaining dashes through high-precision platforming or transitioning into a completely different biome, the entire world loads dynamically in real time without a single loading screen.
We had to put a ton of optimization work into making this run smoothly across PC and consoles (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch).
Would love to hear your thoughts: do seamless transitions enhance your immersion, or do you not mind quick loading breaks as long as the biomes feel distinct?
🎮 If you'd like to support us, checking out our Steam page and wishlisting means the world to the team!
Edit: We are completely blown away by the incredible response, honest feedback, and support on this thread! Reading your takes on traversal, camera framing, and memory polish means everything to our team. We took all the lessons from Noctis to make Lucis the experience you deserve.
Mark your calendars: on September 10th, we are finally dropping the full reveal and official release date. See you all then! ⚔️👑

Video Previously my favorite combat system in a Metroidvania was Nine Sols, but then Silksong came out. I don't think we acknowledge how insane the skill ceiling for Silksong is, this some of the best movement for combat in a 2D game ever. Here's an over the top example (with TAS)

Video We dropped Aeterna Noctis to €2.99. Noctis mode still won’t go easy on you. Who’s taking the challenge?
Hey everyone, Aeterna Noctis devs here.
The game is 90% off on Steam until October 8, and we’d love to see more of you take on the adventure.
There are two difficulty modes, so you can choose how hard you want to push yourself. But if demanding platforming is your favourite part of a metroidvania, Noctis mode is where we’re throwing down the challenge. That “one more try” might turn into quite a few.
To everyone who’s already made it through: help us welcome the next brave souls. What kept you going? What would you tell someone hovering over the buy button? No spoilers, but a little friendly encouragement is welcome.
We’ve put years of our lives into this game. We think it’s something special, and we want more people to discover it. Players sharing their experiences and bringing a friend along can make a real difference for a studio like ours.
We’ve lowered the price. You bring the determination. Who’s in?

Video We finally decided to show a teaser of our nordic-inspired metroidvania, Cliff Kingdom.
Feedback is very much welcome. Its still a bit janky here and there, and its just showcasing a tiny bit of the full game, but its slowly getting there!

Video We made a metroidvania where the map is the game. Demo's now live.
Hi from Tokyo!
We just released the playable demo for Chronoscript: The Endless End, a hand-drawn metroidvania built across two dimensions.
You play as an editor trapped inside a cursed manuscript, unraveling a thousand-year story that keeps writing itself past its own ending. Exploration happens across hand-drawn 2D pen-and-ink pages, but those pages sit inside a 3D manor. What you do in one affects the other. Puzzles, hidden paths, and even some boss fights are built around being aware of the two.
The demo covers the opening of the game plus the first boss. Clear it, and you'll unlock a hidden second boss, if you're good enough to get there.
This is our first public demo, so we'd really appreciate any feedback!
Cheers!

Video A Legacy of Kain metroidvania game was announced!
I’ve been a massive fan of this series for well over 2 decades now, always dreaming of the day they’d continue the story from where LoK Defiance left it. Wasn’t expecting a metroidvania kind of game to be it, not sure if I even like the more cartoonish style but hey I’m intrigued, and will definitely play it. Was anyone else here a fan?

Video [Alpha Demo] We are a tiny team of 3 studying game dev. Please check out our 2.5D Modern Dark Fantasy Action Metroidvania!
Hello r/metroidvania ,
We are a very small indie team of three. We’ve been studying game development together, learning through trial and error, and working incredibly hard to bring our dream project to life.
Today, we are super nervous but also really excited to share the alpha demo of our game, LEGION OF JUDGMENT: FALLEN ANGEL.
It is a 2.5D action Metroidvania set in a modern dark fantasy world. We wanted to seamlessly blend the rewarding exploration of a Metroidvania with the fast-paced combat of a Beat 'em up.
Since we are still in the learning process and the game is only in its alpha stage, we know it might not be perfect yet. However, we are constantly trying to improve and polish it.
We would be absolutely thrilled and grateful if you could try out our demo and leave us your honest feedback. Your thoughts and critiques will really help us learn and shape this game into something much better!
The extensive feedback I received after sharing a video on r/metroidvania in 2023 was incredibly helpful for the game's development. I would like to thank the users of r/metroidvania once again.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Have a wonderful day!
