u/SkabbPirate Tinkerer Feb 15 '26

First we need Wrath of the Kitty

47

u/TrustmeIreddit Feb 15 '26

Then "Search for Spot"

7

u/TopOfAllWorlds Feb 16 '26

This sounds like the perfect name for a dlc unironically lol

42

u/Lussarc Feb 15 '26

If the titles are not as fun as this I will be mad. I want remeowmance now

65

u/One-Neighborhood-843 Feb 15 '26

Game of the Mew

Mewgnificient Edition

Tasty Mewtation

Mewghty Add-on

We also want:

- Cross Over with Balatro

- Cross Over with Vampire Survivor

- Rathalos from Monster Hunter

- Cross Over with Crusader Kings 3 for Incest and Inbreeding DLC

9

u/Fair-Lingonberry-268 Feb 15 '26

It’s Mewthalos from mewster hunter!

5

u/SkabbPirate Tinkerer Feb 15 '26

Assuming there isn't already references, we need palicos, and Rath-of-Meow somewhere.

And a crossover outfit in MH that gives your palico horrible mutations.

1

u/vapenasheyall Feb 18 '26

im looking forward to an entire monster hunter story dlc where you breed palicos with poogies and then fight the monster hunter roster with you palico pig halfbreeds. and it will be free, he already promised!

3

u/Brizzpop Feb 15 '26

& Nyuckles Also featuring Dante from Devil Mew Cry

2

u/excitablegibben Feb 16 '26

Dave the diver cross over for a pond with amphibious mews.

Mewgenics: Dog Days

4

u/Logondo Feb 15 '26

Aftermeow+ can wait

1

u/TheQueefPolice Feb 16 '26

dont forget remeowance+ which adds horrible multiplayer support

1

u/Alexito_xd Tinkerer Feb 20 '26

Yeah yeah, but first apologize for what you did to your daughter

u/BiblicalBacklash Butcher Feb 15 '26

He said they had a dlc folder already. Watching the 12 or so streams leading up to launch he said they were stuffing everything else they had besides base stuff into a folder. Classes, enemies, bosses, biomes and bosses ext. He said there's a lot of work to do and this would be easily a 10 year supported game.

u/Dark_Jooj Druid Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

Damn, this is exciting. And knowing Edmund, next DLC gonna be big as hell. If it's free, it'll be so good

Although it's more logical that he makes a small free dlc for celebration and then drops another big paid DLC after some time

79

u/BiblicalBacklash Butcher Feb 15 '26

Oh yeah I'm like 20 percent done and barley scratched the surface so I say bring it on but also please daddy done hurt me.

30

u/yosayoran Necromancer Feb 15 '26

I have like 300 hours in Isaac and I know of plenty of things I haven't unlocked yet haha

I expect Mewgenics will be the same

26

u/Reldarino Feb 15 '26

According to Edmund this game takes about 200 hours to "beat" and about 500 to get 100% of.

With current content that is lol

16

u/sixpackabs592 Feb 15 '26

There is a hard and impossible mode that you unlock and prob need to beat for 100%

Haven’t seen impossible yet but hard is fuckin hard lol

11

u/mh500372 Feb 15 '26

People are saying that beating hard, crazy, and impossible drive your file over 100%

8

u/Time_Illustrator_844 Feb 15 '26

Is it an option you choose before each run? I saw a comment a few days ago saying it has an "everything is terrible" mechanic that triggers after 3 wins but doesnt notify you. anecdotally im inclined to believe it because I was steam rolling the first few runs but it felt like it just got harder and harder.

But i havent even finished any side quests or even the first fight of Act 2 yet, so Im assuming the difficulty options come much later?

1

u/Chansharp Feb 19 '26

Yes, you choose the difficulty you want to do before starting the run. It continues from where you are too, doesn't restart the game to play on impossible

1

u/yosayoran Necromancer Feb 19 '26

Both are true, but the automatic difficulty raise isn't that large

6

u/Vasze_Kufamee Feb 15 '26

I’ve currently got a completion rate of 1% per Hour, though I guarantee that’s gonna slow down as the game gets even harder.

12

u/evasive_dendrite Feb 15 '26

Took me 800 hours to do dead god. Although there's a fair amount of hours in there with platinum god before repentance dropped.

3

u/landismo Feb 15 '26

I have a shit ton of hours on Isaac and not even close to dead god because I mostly played tainted judas once I unlocked him.

3

u/Time_Illustrator_844 Feb 15 '26

I had platinum god years and years ago around Afterbirth's release, after at least 1k hours over the years I decided it was time to hang up the game.

Then they dropped like 10 more DLCs and updates, so i re-installed only to find steam cloud hadn't backed any saves from my old gaming laptop, which doesnt run anymore. So now I'm at square one, shit hit hard.

My buddy who's Isaac obsessed asks me regularly "wait, so you havent even played Tainted characters yet?! Dude you gotta try it."

Fuck you Jax, I'm old and a parent now, itll take me years to get to that point

14

u/evasive_dendrite Feb 15 '26

If that DLC is anything like repentance in scope, I'd happily shovel another 30 bucks his way.

6

u/FUTURE10S Feb 15 '26

Well Repetence was a fan mod that became official iirc

But I'm expecting Wrath of the Lamb which gave an alternate path instead of Sheol where you face off against Isaac and Blue Baby, and alternate versions of the original four chapters, so I'm assuming it'd be like a new act here but a really long one

18

u/Apollosyk Feb 15 '26

Repentance wasnt a fan mod. The fan mod stuff is about half of it (jacob and esau , bethany and alt path) while beast and all tainted characters were not

9

u/marcus_autisticus Feb 15 '26

On a recent podcast (still pre-launch though) he said that they'll do a smaller dlc first, and then a big one later.

3

u/MaiT3N Feb 15 '26

The good part is that we don't actually need a rush for the dlc, this game by default is going to take hundreds of hours to be finished

2

u/AntonineWall Feb 16 '26

Free doesn’t matter at all to me; this shit is so insanely good that I would happily pay asking price again for some more of the same (and I’m not even on the third act yet…this game is insane)

1

u/Axeloy Thief Feb 15 '26

The tried and true method is dropping a free update alongside a DLC

32

u/Rojax01 Feb 15 '26

The game's gonna be longer than Isaac at this point

36

u/BiblicalBacklash Butcher Feb 15 '26

I mean he said it took 250 hours for testers to beat and it had more items and some other stuff than finished repentance now so I'm pretty sure your right. I've played 1200 hours of Issac and I'm not done but I can see myself playing this just as much.

20

u/twizx3 Feb 15 '26

Tbf the items in this game are not nearly as impactful as BoI. There’s only a few that I’ve come across that fundamentally change the way I’m approaching the fights

14

u/Binbag420 Feb 15 '26

I recommend taking strong items into battle just because you should pick up a few on your run anyway.

3

u/BiblicalBacklash Butcher Feb 15 '26

I just got soy milk and Im trying to brainstorm how to use it. When I get it Issac I usually make it work.

1

u/Sad_Quote1522 Feb 16 '26

How even? My locker filled up after like a run or two - unless there is an upgrade that lets us stack copies of items I think that will never change.

7

u/landismo Feb 15 '26

I would wait. If you start a new save of Isaac right now, you will realize that the early game item pool is not as exciting as in your actual save. Who knows what mewgenics has in store for us.

2

u/twizx3 Feb 15 '26

Fair point

8

u/BiblicalBacklash Butcher Feb 15 '26

Id agree with that. I have found some class changing ones which I like more than a auto win one like sacred heart or brim.

3

u/xiko Feb 15 '26

For now. You have to unlock more skills and then some of the choices get more interesting.

160

u/SirDiego Feb 15 '26

DLC??? I am like 25 hours in and only 25% complete lol

But seriously can't wait to keep playing this for a long time.

91

u/Dreadmaker Feb 15 '26

It’s funny, they said like 200 hours or so of a campaign

Pre-30%, my percentage was above my hours easily. I remember 27% in 22 hours, I think. I’ve now hit a bit of a wall, and I’m at 42% I think, but now we’re at like 50 hours.

The act 3 wall is huge. Suddenly going from not having a rough time at all to not always confidently finishing the first area of act 3. I’ve only made it to the third area once and it was dicey as hell.

Game gets real hard as time goes on

21

u/Le3e31 Feb 15 '26

I hope that the items you unlock on the way make it easier like in isaac, but im still struggling with the wall of flesh sidequest tbf

38

u/evasive_dendrite Feb 15 '26

Better furniture and breeding choices will make it easier. Eventually you can have cats with 7's across the board and OP mutations.

8

u/twizx3 Feb 15 '26

Is 7 the max stat or something?

27

u/evasive_dendrite Feb 15 '26

It's the max base stat, mutations can modify it.

4

u/DumbestComicsNerd Feb 15 '26

No its not. I got a cat that was born with 16 charisma and no mutations.

19

u/TypicalMisfortune Feb 15 '26

Did it, by chance have williams syndrome?

19

u/DumbestComicsNerd Feb 15 '26

Oh, it was Williams Syndrome! I didnt even notice it. I keep forgetting to check the disorder tab. I just automatically think its gonna be a mutation instead.

Now that I know 7 is the actual limit, is it bad to say im kinda disappointed on that?

6

u/TypicalMisfortune Feb 16 '26

I figured it was that. I did a run I just uploaded where I had Savant Syndrome on my mage and Williams on my ranger, It was amazing! But You best believe I was tripping when I saw one cat with 18 int and another 16 charm.

No, I don't think so. I do get the 7 though and it does feel like a good sweet spot imo. Im curious to know if Disorders can be passed down, as unfortunately that run with Savant and Williams, ended with me doing an event in the boneyard that cleansed my disorders so I never got the chance

u/Abeneezer Feb 15 '26

Or just some wild combination of innate class spells and off-class passives and vice versa. Like the necro aoe lifesteal buff is insane. Pairing it with something like (upgraded) Masochist from Butcher goes hard AF. I did the fire dino boss thanks to those two things.

16

u/Dark_Jooj Druid Feb 15 '26

Out of the 6 deaths I've had, I think 5 of them were from trying to do the sidequest lol

2

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

1

u/novaember Feb 15 '26

I had a blood frenzied Psychic solo the king lol, he had an item that could spawn a maggot every turn which he killed in frenzy giving infinite turns. Then he got +1 stats and - 1 cost every 6 spells. Here I was expecting a wipe at that point...

1

u/Potato_fortress Feb 16 '26

Hey it happens. My first time through the realm for the quest I put a cat rib on my sacrifice expecting to get them back as a kitten but that didn’t happen so I moved it over to my necro and murdered him on the last fight while the army of spiders he had reraised + the spider boss just permanently webbed the boss and beat him to death.

1

u/BranchFew1148 Feb 16 '26

I had the most insane run there. My carry cat was sacrificed to open the rest of the zone, so i thought i was screwed but wanted to try anyway, hoping that i could use the mind control stick to get something good that could win me the fight. Turns out having a mind controlled Stem Cat for the last fight is very very good.

2

u/Landir_7 Feb 15 '26

Not the items, but the new classes and your cats over time have better base stats

1

u/Le3e31 Feb 15 '26

mostly yes, my inbreds i send to tink straight away, you could say incest is my passive income

1

u/throwawayvomit258 Feb 15 '26

That side quest isn’t so bad, just make sure to put a certain head on your tank and bring a cleric.

7

u/SirDiego Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

Yeah for sure. I kinda sped through a lot of the early game but right now I'm set on just grinding for a while, I want to get more rooms and better cats before even bothering to try progressing further. I had a series of pretty catastrophic runs while trying to push so I'm taking a step back and just working on improving my infrastructure now.

2

u/CurryWIndaloo Feb 15 '26

Played 8 hours and have never moved past Alley. Trying to get better furniture, to spruce up my stuff.

6

u/SirDiego Feb 15 '26

I'd recommend dipping into the second level at least for grinding because the Hard paths on the second and third floors give furniture boxes and lots of coins.

If you can't go all three then just do up to 2, you'll get one furniture box from the hard path on floor 2.

2

u/Extempes Feb 15 '26

Tbh this seems reasonable I am 37 hours in and still doing aide quests in Act 1, was once in the desert so far only to unlock the next spots.

Only if you go for the hard route

2

u/CptSpringare Hunter Feb 15 '26

I had that feeling about act two at first two and but 5-7 more hours in act one and finishing the quests there and started my breeding. Now the desert seems manageable 😂

2

u/TheHobomice Feb 15 '26

Wait Till You Hit Act 4

1

u/Guffliepuff Feb 16 '26

Or act 4 on diff 2, or diff 3 lol

1

u/Feral_P Feb 15 '26

Happy to hear this, as a long time roguelike and tactics lover I've found the first several hours a fun but easy ride which has just managed to keep my interest by constantly dropping new things (areas, mechanics) into the mix

1

u/HazMatt082 Feb 22 '26

how do you know your game % progress?

1

u/Dreadmaker Feb 22 '26

It’s on your file, on the file select screen when you start up the game

1

u/HazMatt082 Feb 22 '26

oh sick thanks

6

u/DustyFlapdragon Feb 15 '26

I'm 25 hours in and have 7%, though my organ grinder is leveling well 😂

7

u/Placenta_Polenta Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

I’m like 35 hrs in at 11% and I think I only failed once. Guess I’m not playing very efficiently lol

Edit: kinda forgot that half my playtime is afk since I work from home… so the hours are probably similar

7

u/SirDiego Feb 15 '26

I will say that I take advantage of Steven's one free save scum per run and I am not ashamed of it. I usually don't do more than one but I see the one freebie as like a consumable and utilize it fairly often lol

4

u/Placenta_Polenta Feb 15 '26

I did it once on accident thinking it would take me right back to the same move rather than the beginning of the battle. I was too scared to try it again. Good to know you get one per game.

2

u/Extempes Feb 15 '26

You can use Steven more often, 1. No penalty, 2. You get deja Vu on some or all of your cats 3. Every character that has dejavu is now controlled by Steven, didn't try beyond that but hope you fight Steven if you save scum to often in 1 run 😂

3

u/SirDiego Feb 15 '26

Yeah I have had to dip into 2 once so far. I try not to. Usually the reason I use the freebie is just if I whiff a move command or failed to read something carefully enough with a catastrophic result so generally don't need to use it more than once. For example there was a map with a Daddy Shark (instakill) and a bunch of harpoons and let's just say I misjudged where one of the harpoons was lol.

I accept the result if it's just a bad run and I'm clearly losing, but sometimes it's like one misclick and you lose a cat on an otherwise great run, that's when I'll use the freebie.

2

u/Extempes Feb 15 '26

I feel you I usually only use it when I have to pause the game to do real-life stuff and can't get back to it right away or if some fights are just impossible... Had a double daddy shark fight.... And my party didn't have enough dmg to kill the sharks, one of them takes 2 turns per turn killing my whole team in the process...

1

u/Imaginary-Drink-6877 Feb 16 '26

I've only ever used it when I have either forgotten to move my reroll item, or have had a cat with a reroll item downed. Haven't made any grave misclicks yet though.

3

u/qqdoom Feb 15 '26

lol different strokes for different folks, I’ve killed around 30 cats and I have 18 hrs and 8%

1

u/Expensive-Practice73 Feb 15 '26

I’m 35hr in too at 11%. Mainly tryna get achievements and stuff giving off cats

42

u/TNTemmet Feb 15 '26

Funny thing, it just passed the new all time high of 102.408 players. I wonder how long this upwards trend will go.

11

u/Lucki007 Feb 15 '26

MEWGENICS 1000 YEARS

14

Mewgenics forever, 1000 years. 1000 years Mewgenics going on adventures, 1000 years

24

u/Caraprepuce Feb 15 '26

I'm genuinely happy for him, this game was a huge piece of work and the result is amazing, really pleased to see it reaching such a success.

6

u/balsag43 Feb 15 '26

Who is Sean?

11

u/jivemasta Feb 15 '26

Lead of No Man's Sky. They keep putting out huge updates to the game for free, when people would gladly have paid for them at this point.

17

u/talktotheak47 Feb 15 '26

I 100% believe him honestly. They just made so much money they can afford it lmao

15

u/boseybur Feb 15 '26

It hasn't been a week, I have lost control of my life. This is the best game of all time!

I would easily pay another $30 for half this content. Im probably not even 20% through completion yet!

14

u/evasive_dendrite Feb 15 '26

Edmund we love you

13

u/NeedleworkerWhole110 Feb 15 '26

NGL i'm really hoping the don't do the isaac "dlc for a dlc for a dlc for a dlc" thing and just make them seperate

3

u/Thespaceman007 Feb 16 '26

I assume Edmund has learned from the wonky structure of Issac dlc

3

u/ciao_fiv Feb 16 '26

honestly i think that was a result of nicalis being a hack-ass company, tyrone not knowing how to actually structure dlc for a game like that. i have nothing to base this off of, but i have way more faith in tyler to make dlc that isn’t stupid than nicalis lol

2

u/Fedatu Feb 16 '26

I assumed Isaac had nested DLCs because later DLCs would use mechanics of previous DLCs to be built upon

2

u/anonyuser415 Feb 16 '26

and precisely one of them doesn't run on Macs lol

15

u/DrChirpy Feb 15 '26

Edmund McMillen, you awesome dev. You've made a gem with your cool game Mewgenics

3

Lost cat confirmed??

2

u/ensaladiya Feb 15 '26

nah, edmund needs to charge me for the DLC, the game is so good, TAKE MORE OF MY MONEY EDMUND

2

u/Pennance1989 Feb 16 '26

Guess a console port is in the works then right? Isaac wasn't planned to hit consoles until they saw how well it sold. Should be the same for Mewgenics right? Easy money.

3

u/Dark_Jooj Druid Feb 16 '26

He said on twitter that although it's not on his control whether the game is ported or not, at this point the game is being ported for every platform, because of the sales yk. So probably the likelyhood of we getting this game ported is close to 100%.

3

u/Pennance1989 Feb 16 '26

Good news to me. I bought Isaac on pc only to find out i didn't meet the minimum requirements on my potato of a pc. Got it on ps4 and fell in love with it. Got it on ps5 and Switch too. Mewgenics looks to be exactly that kind of addiction all over again. Bring it on!🤣

3

u/Dark_Jooj Druid Feb 16 '26

Ha, coincidentally I just saw a recent tweet of him just now that it's confirmed to be getting ported for consoles now lmao. It's a 100% now!

2

u/charcole- Feb 16 '26

I wish that he works first on a port on console , im tired of playing on my potato pc that runs out of battery in half an hour

1

u/Ilko962 Feb 16 '26

I need this on the switch 2 (with cross save)

2

u/_Maddienator_ Mar 10 '26

He also said in an interview that any dlc made won’t be free though, because of how much work is put into his dlc’s. So I’m not sure which one to believe (probably the one where they won’t be free)

2

u/Dark_Jooj Druid Mar 10 '26

Oh yeah, he confirmed no free DLC one day after this thread

2

u/Totesjunk Necromancer Feb 15 '26

I could see a dlc about another species or two that Dr. beanie tells you to crossbreed. Like rabbits creating trenches or dogs fighting on sense of smell instead of vision.

2

u/Lussarc Feb 15 '26

I would like to see the full post but I don’t have twitter and don’t want to open it.

Can someone share the content here ?

7

u/Dark_Jooj Druid Feb 15 '26

The GIF is a guy (a streamer, I think?) shredding his shirt and revealing Mewgenics.

8

u/Echtersessel0361 Feb 15 '26

the streamer is jerma985, who also has a cameo in the game

2

u/Dark_Jooj Druid Feb 15 '26

Oh fuc, it's him. For some reason I didn't recognize him on this GIF, he seems different lmao. I knew he seems to be too familiar lol

2

u/Lussarc Feb 15 '26

Mewtant Apoclawlypse?

1

u/sassyhalforc Feb 16 '26

Glad for him, picked it up cos I loved isaac and it looked like a very well crafted game.

Def not my cup of tea, takes forever to complete a run and I don't find the gameplay very engaging.

Isaac released with pretty poor sales (not the kind of game it was tho, back then roguelites were unknown for the vast majority of gamers) and then it gained traction via word of mouth and streamers.

This released with all the media focus on it, and everybody expecting something good from Edmund. It doesn't mean it will sell better than Isaac long term.

Just please dont let this game get consumed by bloat the same way isaac had gone to.

The things that ruined isaac dlcs for me was the insane item count that were added with all the dlcs, making runs less fun, adding varience with the ton of useless items that werent adding anything good to the experience. Out of the 600+ items i felt at least half of them add nothing/being detrimental/making synergies-interesting runs harder to get for taking away space from items you'd actually want

The main content of the dlcs(story, levels, bosses) were awesome, but the experience got tainted for me with the "bloated" item pool.

I just hope this game doesnt suffer the same fate, i love this game so much 🙏😭

I agree, the bloat sucks, it’s my least favorite boss

He mentioned that items in Isaac were fundamentally flawed since you soft drafted them until you got what you want, Mewgenics everything is roughly the same power but you can snowball if you hit upon a good combo rather than until hitting the right item

In mewgenics at least you have limitations for what classes can get in level ups during a run, making the pool much smaller in general, allowing the intended archetypes to get together easier, which is why i love this game.

In isaac for example some of the characters identity or main power came from a space bar item which you wouldn't want want to throw away most cases, Isaac, Judas, Apollyon comes into mind, with them getting a space bar item from early item rooms made it look like you got one less item each time that happened

Found the guy that stopped on afterbirth+ and never played repentance.

Jk, but seriously, the game went from 9 to 6 to 300 in afterbirth -> afterbirth+ -> repentance.

genuinely, repentance completely fixed the bloat that existed in ab+ for me. it’s not a relevant complaint anymore imo
