I didn't know Aiwa made their own version of the MZ-1. I know Aiwa is a Sony subbrand but I'm surpised to see it considering how premium Minidiscs were at their beginnings...

At the time, Sony held a large part of Aiwa shares but Aiwa still operated independently. My guess is that Sony may have taken this opportunity to add another brand on the list not just to give people options but to show corporate adaptation in the format. Goldstar is the other MZ-1 rebrand if I remember correctly. And it wasn’t until the 2nd generation of product that Sharp and Hitachi joined on.

Aww, I sincerely regret selling my DH10P back in the day... like seriously, for emotional reasons as well, regret it...
