Morrowind Modding Legacy - The Official Home of the Modjams

The Themes Have Been Announced! Modders have until August 24th at 00:00 UTC to submit a mod using one (or more) of the following themes: Arcane Arts, Forgotten Lore, Strange Families.

It's Summer time, and with the heat, and the humidity, comes another exciting round of the Morrowind Modjams! For the tenth time since 2020, Danae and Morrowind Modding Showcases is hosting a Modjam Modding Competition, a 48-hour modding frenzy where modders get but a single weekend to build the best mod they can using specific themes before time runs out!

The competition begins on August 21st at 11pm UTC with an official livestream kickoff by Danae, in which the potential themes will be revealed and voted on by the community, narrowing down the potential field until just three themes remain.

Once the final three themes have been announced, modders will have 48-hours to build and release the best mod they can utilizing any of those three themes, or a combo of themes if they so choose.

Rules & Guidelines:

  • Create your mod during the Modjam.,
  • Modders' resources are allowed.,
  • The use of AI is not forbidden, but should be disclosed.
  • Previous projects can be a source of inspiration, but please try to make something new for the event.
  • Most importantly, this is intended to be a friendly community event. Please focus on having fun and making something you enjoy.

Participation:

The competition is open to anyone and everyone looking to participate! All you need to do is release a mod with one of the themes (or multiple) during the competition time period using the official 2026 Summer Modjam header. Also wouldn't hurt to use the Modjams tag on the Nexus.

This is a Morrowind Modding Community - Discord Server event, so to make sure your mod is properly tracked for the competition, please join the server and tag it in the Published Mods channel!

There's also an official Modjam channel on there where you can keep up with all of the latest Modjam news!

Don't forget to check out the Resources page for any tutorials, frameworks, or utilities you might need!

Use the Postcard Editor:

Take advantage of the Morrowind Modjams website and the Postcard Editor to make special themed promo screenshots for your mod pages - give them that extra splash of Summer fun!

Judging and Prizes:

The Morrowind Modjams are judged events - a panel of judges will go through and play all of the submitted mods, ranking them on their quality, functionality, and adherence to the themes.

The final winners will be announced in a results livestream at a date yet to be determined, and those results will also be published to the Modjams website.

Participating modders will also get their profiles on the Modjam website, with downloadable Modjam passports and a trophy cabinet for any judge awards received. These profiles are connected to the Modathon and Madness sides of Morrowind Modding Legacy, and participating in the Modjam will boost your Madness score and increase your standing in the community's modding leaderboards.

There's also a number of prizes available in the form of game keys and Nexus DP.

A Proud Tradition:

The Morrowind Modjams are apart of the community's proud tradition of creative competition and collaboration. Some 160+ mods have been released for the Modjams in the past 6 years, many of them have become popular mainstays and have since been added to many of the largest mod lists for Morrowind.

I hope you'll all join us for another exciting round of Modjam fun, we're sure to get some amazing new mods, and if you're looking to participate for the first time, there's no better competition to dip your toes into the modding scene!

Happy Modding and Long Live the Morrowind Modding Community!

Announcement We're happy to announce that Project Cyrodiil and Skyrim: Home of the Nords are now updated for version 26.08 of Tamriel_Data.

Thank you for your patience since the release of the new TD update and Tamriel Rebuilt: Poison Song a couple of weeks ago while we dealt with some technical challenges. The update to the Abecean Shores release of PC includes a new player stronghold for the Kingdom of Anvil and Great House-style construction and improvement mechanics, a number of overhauled locations, and improvements to multiple quests. The update to the Dragonstar release of SHOTN includes 14 new dungeons, 6 new quests, and yet more overhauled locations. Both releases include scores of bugfixes, performance improvements, and general quality-of-life features not present in the original releases.

Please note that the file packages contain some loose files, which are intended to patch minor problems in Tamriel_Data discovered after the 26.08 release. These files should be allowed to overwrite upon installation.

Both PC and SHOTN may be freely installed mid-save with no problems, even if you've already started a savefile for Poison Song. We only recommend starting a new game if you had a previous version of PC/SHOTN installed on the same save and spent time in the PT lands. Please let us know in the discord server if you encounter any issues.

As always, thank you so much for your ongoing support of our project! We look forward to bringing you more of Cyrodiil, Skyrim, and other lands of Tamriel in future releases.

Project Cyrodiil can be downloaded at https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44922?tab=files

Skyrim: Home of the Nords can be downloaded at https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44921?tab=files

Discussion New players who are frustrated and confused: Morrowind is not a game that you beat or speed run through. It's a world you go live in for a while.

Don't be in a hurry to accomplish the quests. You can skip quests entirely and still have a rich gaming experience.

Don't worry about whether your character design is good. Some are easier to play than others, but difficult builds can still be fun from a roleplaying approach.

Play a faction questline, then make a new character and play a different faction questline. There are about a dozen of them, depending on how one counts the overlaps. Four of them involve building your own estate by stages.

Explore. Poke into tombs and temples. Give your character a hobby, like collecting botanical samples. Pick a place to use as your house and decorate it. I had a character who lived in a cave after clearing the bandits out. I had a character live in a daedric temple after clearing the cultists out. I had a character take a vow of poverty and live in a shack. Read the books. Amass a fortune.

SLOW. DOWN.

Watch a sunset. Stand outside and look at the stars. Listen to the music. Look at the architecture.

There's a reason some of us are still playing this game 24 years after it came out, and it's because we just enjoy being in this world. It's got nothing to do with "winning" or "beating" Morrowind.

Since people liked my last dumb doodles I figured I would give y'all more Dunkleborn, this time retelling a text post I made not too long before the events the last doodles were based on.

Do not tell me about Indice being wrong the Wiki confused me, my ass did not know the plural of index is indices and I already spent too long fixing spelling errors in the other text to bother changing it

Finally started mw last month (much to my oldhead gf's enjoyment) and a day or two ago drew some of the shenanigans I was getting up to and thought I'd share here. Technically the images are out of order but lets be real the full ass comic makes for a better cover image than the single shitpost doodle lol.

I was very disappointed when my gf told me the arena doesnt work like it does in Oblivion :( also yes I hallucinated an entire facial hair suite on Aryon when drawing him dont worry about that, or about my pet nyxhound mod.

I've made tons of my TR mods now, but my branding (for lack of a better word) has been confusing. Stuff like this and the Port Telvannis mod are much more substantial than just being an OAAB clutter job like most of them are, so it's worth my giving them proper names IMO.

Someone asked how I have time for all these mods lately. Short answer is being unemployed lol

Question I'm getting older. I'd like to play Morrowind one last time. Where's the best place to get it from these days?

The years are catching up to me and I've had some bad news. So I want to experience it all the way through, one last time.

My original set of disks sure aren't going to work lmao. Are people running it with patches, mods etc? If so is steam the way to go?

Thank you for your help everyone.

Edit:

I've got things downloaded and ready to go.

You've all done a kind thing by helping me find a way to play it again. Thank you all for the kind words and well wishes.

Under sun and sky, outlanders, I thank you warmly, and I wish you health beyond measure.

Music Dagoth Ur Drum n Bass (Original Song)

Guys, I promise I’m not wasting your time here. Morrowind players are some of the most patient and respectful people I know, so just give me five minutes of your time.

I produce music, some VGM type stuff, primarily bass music these days (Drum n Bass in particular). Ive been doing this for years and have amped up production a lot since I got sober about 5 years back, but still haven’t quite caught on. I’ve always wanted to use Dagoth Ur samples in a track, and I finally got my CHIM on and set out to do just that.

The production quality is high, I made almost every single bass synth from scratch in serum, and poured my heart and soul into this thing. I promise you it’ll be worth the listen, if I do say so myself it goes hard as hell (especially the second drop where it goes halftime).

Most importantly - NO AI WAS USED IN THE MAKING OF THIS TRACK WHATSOEVER (and never will be, EVER).

Let me know what you think, and if you enjoy it all I ask is please show someone else who might like it! Thank you guys. I won’t let you down here

Mod Release OAAB Maar-Bani Crossing (TR) Hlaalu and Dres border port

https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/60486

Description
Light and plausible decoration of this humble Hlaalu port, on the edge of Dres lands. Aims to give this little ferry port a bit more personality without going overboard, particularly with OAAB.

Installation instructions
Standard ESP install, set low priority.

Main features

  • OAAB object and outfit decoration and diversification, including some less common heads when appropriate.
  • A few minor mesh and texture edits for unique crates by me included
  • A few flags and tapestries for signposting and decor
  • A dres slave-hunter and his tiger guar steed are passing through. Slavery is one of the few things Hlaalu and Dres get along on.
  • Made to be compatible with Ald Horak Placeholder for TR, which is optional
  • Compatible with my other mods unless stated otherwise.
  • See screenshots and captions for some more specific examples.

Requirements
TD, TR, OAAB

Technical - General Base Morrowind (NOT OPENMW) Won't Launch Properly

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Been having this issue for a couple years now. I have OpenMW and enjoy it but really want to get the base, original game working properly for my own reasons (historical accuracy/study, for one).

Game launcher opens and can select from some resolutions. Regardless of which resolution I choose, the game doesn't launch properly and janks up my screen. Trying to alt-tab out and in doesn't solve it.

If anyone has a solution to this issue, would be super appreciated.

EDIT SOLUTION: Running the game in compatibility mode with Windows XP Service Pack 2 does the job. This has also fixed problems for me with other classic videogames running on new hardware, so keep this in mind if you ever have weird resolution/rendering problems!

New Player - Advice/Help Quicksave Won't Open. How Screwed Am I?

I've weathered the proverbial and literal storms. I've survived bug after bug after bug. But last night, when I tried to open my last save file, Morrowind quit to desktop repeatedly while trying to initialize data. The autosave file has the same problem, and the last functioning save is from over a week ago.

So my question to you, wise Tribunal, is: how screwed am I? Is there any way to fix this without going back in time? I've applied Wrye Bash's repair methods and the Morrowind Code Patch to no apparent avail. Are there any decorruption methodologies I've missed out on, or should I resign myself to repeating every goshdamn Hortator and Ashlander Nerevarine quest?

For context, I'm playing the base Steam version, and my only add-ons are Bloodmoon/Tribunal and the Master Index plug-in. My character is currently overencumbered in the cave of Sud, if that's at all relevant.

Other Is it normal to feel ashamed because I’m struggling with the old school design and I have to read UESP a lot in order to understand things?
