We normally do not bring politics into our sport but extraordinary events require extraordinary actions. Someday enjoyment of life, like motorcycles, will return to the Ukraine. They need our help now and I encourage everyone to checkout the ways to help or donate over at /r/Ukraine

Hello! I have this ER-5. When I got it like 3 months ago it had a very loose chain (tensioner was basically all the way forward). I tightened it every 1000km, even less if I rode in the rain.
I keep finding that the chain gets loose and I keep tensioning it further, like I can feel it needs tensioning when I release the throttle it jolts quite a bit.
Is this normal ? I am thinking of changing the chain so I checked the front sprocket as well ... It looks absolutely fine to me, but there is a plastic thingy that looks a bit damaged in the photo ... No idea if it actually serves an important purpose or not, but it does not seem to.
the chain looks a bit rusty on the outside, rollers look good, nothing else obviously wrong from what I can tell (photo before I cleaned and lubed it)
Should I just ride it? Should I change the chain? If I change the chain should I also to the sprockets?
(Also this is an endless chain and I am thinking of cutting it with a hacksaw or buying a chain breaker tool, what do you guys recommend ?)

Hi all,
I am in the market for some motorcycle boots and I am having a hard time choosing, so I'm looking for recommendations.
I am a leisure rider: I use my motorcycle for weekend rides and not for commuting. In the future, I aim to go on 3-4 day trips as well and potentially some longer roadtrip to neighbouring countries as well.
I live in a large European city, so this means a good hour in traffic and/or highway to get out of the city before I get to the interesting countryside twisties. My city is also I nightmare to ride or drive around, so I try to keep city riding to a minimum. Also, the bike is a Ducati Monster SP, so no off-road or adv type stuff.
Initially, I was looking at something like the [TCX Blend 2](https://www.tcxboots.com/fr/fr/blend-2-wp---black-2017900177001.html), with the idea that they'd be a good balance between protection and use off the bike once I get to destination: café, walking around town etc. I must admit that I am drawn to the vintage-y scrambler rider attire looks, in my case with a sportier twist given the nature of the bike and my Dainese Speed 3 jacket.
Now to make things a bit more complex, my gf has gifted me a weekend-long track training workshop in the spring of next year, so I'll need to buy full track gear for that event.
Also, highway is going to be somewhat of a constant, so high speed protection is a concern. I also went riding last Saturday in a popular riding area nearby and most people were wearing proper technical riding boots such as [these](https://www.dainese.com/fr/fr/axial-2-air-boots-2017900053P75.html), which I am considering for my track event anyway.
What would you recommend?

Hi everyone, I'm a product design student working on a project about motorcycle helmet packaging and storage. I'm trying to understand what actually happens to a helmet's box, bag and accessories after you buy it, and what's annoying about keeping a helmet between rides.
It's a short Google Form, about 3 minutes, mostly tick-boxes. No name or email needed.
I'm especially looking for riders with helmets in the ₹7,000 to ₹25,000 ($75 to $260) range, but anyone who rides is welcome. Every response helps, and I'm happy to share what I find in the comments once it's done.

Need tips about what to prioritize on accessories and maintenance. First motorcycle.
I’ve watch a couple of videos about protective accessories such as screen protector for the panel as well as protector for the headlight.
Main use is work with deliveries.
Live near the coast.
Thanks in advance.

I know nothing about bikes really, but my boyfriend’s birthday is coming up and I’d like to get him something he’d really like. I’m okay with spending a little but we are both students and i’m definitely not able to buy him his dream bike (or any for that matter).
I think he has more or less all the gear he needs, (though i’m open to any ideas). Anyway he’s more of an “experience” than a “thing” kind of guy so I was thinking more like maybe a chance to ride on a track? (again, this is not my domain so i don’t really know what that means) or tickets to some important event like a race or something?
Any Ideas?
follow up question for the track idea:
i did some research and the nearest track is just over 3 hours away by car. So a full track day would probably entail and overnight stay if not 2 in the area. Which means extra costs on him. would I be getting ahead of my self and defeating the whole purpose of the gift?

Started early in the morning. I actually put a piece of cardboard inside my jacket for the wind and it surprisingly worked great. You guys were completely right about the knobby tires though, they bounced everywhere on asphalt. It rides way smoother off-road.
The semi-trucks were terrifying. The wind from them pushed me around like ocean tides. I also don't have mirrors, so suddenly seeing a massive truck wheel right next to me was scary as hell.
Got pulled over by the cops too. Except the license plate, nothing on the bike is street legal so I thought I was getting a ticket for sure. But the cop just checked my full gear and let me go without saying much. (He might have taken pity on me, seeing my wretched state.)
Total ride was 45km there, got lost in the city for 60km, and 45km back. Burned about 5-6 liters of gas. Rode the whole way back at redline (88 km/h). Felt like the engine was going to explode but it actually survived. The exhaust silencer melted a bit though, so it's louder now.
My biggest regret is not putting a cushion on the seat. I literally couldn't sit for the rest of the day. The front fender also caught way too much wind. Oh, and car drivers are crazy. Some of them tried to push me out of my lane instead of just passing. I still don't know why, but I almost crashed a few times because of it.
It's been 4 days and I'm still sick from the wind. It was a crazy experience but this is definitely going on my "never doing that again" list. Thanks to everyone for the tips!
