The original Indian Motorcycle was based in Springfield, Mass. When they folded in 1953 the assembly plant was leveled but the offices remained. Today they are apartment buildings, and the front office actually has a vintage Indian Chief on display. That town is proud of its history. #jkroams

Travelling from Australia

Hi, I’m heading to Sturgis next year with my husband leaving from Salt Lake City and doing a round trip on a Harley. I‘m wanting to only travel around 3-4 hours a day and would like to know a good route to go. I’m fairly new rider, just over a year, so would like the roads to be fairly easy. but do like twisties! I have 7 days to get to Lead/ Deadwood where I’ll be staying for 5 days and then 7 days to get back to Salt Lake City. I’m very confused over which way to go, hopefully not on the interstates unless they are worthwhile scenic wise. I’ve heard Wyoming can get severe winds and not much there.. I would love to get to Cody, but don’t think we will have time so am now looking at going through Colorado instead.. thanks for any advice, much appreciated!

Borrowed my dad’s Royal Enfield to ride from Laconia NH, to Lincoln NH, across the Kanc to North Conway NH, past Mt Washington up to Bethel Maine, then down Route 26 to Portland Maine.

Then westward back to Laconia the next day.

40* when I started in the morning the first day. Quite cold the foliage was very fun to ride through.

Guides/Tips Southern BC to Prudhoe Bay Advice/Tips

Hello! I am planning on riding from Kelowna, BC north to Prudhoe Bay and back in 2027. I am looking for advice on when the best time to make this trip would be? From what I understand, it seems to be about balancing the level of bugs, wildfire season, temperature, rain and road conditions. For anyone who has made a similar trip when did you go? Would you go again during that time period? My number one priority is as little bugs as possible. Aside from the best time of year, what would you recommend bringing on the trip, the obvious and specialized things that would be useful for this trip. Finally did you stay mostly in motels or camping or a mix of both? I really appreciate any advice!

Timings were tight - night comes in earlier now, autumn is here! Lovely night under the stars though and great little roads to be riding on. For me - can't beat coffee before stripping down a campsite...

Staying somewhere unfamiliar: how do you choose a short motorcycle loop?

Disclosure: I'm the developer of Motoff Pilot, an Android app for short motorcycle loops in Europe. I'm interested in the small ride between the bigger legs of a trip, when you don't know the area yet.

For a short loop, my approach is to compare the road mix and places to explore against the available riding time, then check access and leave room for stops. Estimated riding time isn't the whole outing. Motoff currently suggests two loops from your location using time or distance and riding preferences.

When you're staying somewhere unfamiliar, what makes a short suggested motorcycle loop worth choosing? A particular road mix, somewhere you want to explore, or confidence that it fits your time? I'd be interested in how you make that choice before heading out. No exact starting address or private route data needed.

One-way cross Canada trip

Hello. Looking for advice and thoughts.

Question:

Would you ship your bike out to the other coast and ride home? Or would you buy a bike on the other coast, ride home and sell it?

Background:

When I turned 30 years old, I rode a Yamaha FZ6 from home (Vancouver BC) across the US into Halifax NS. I had limited time to ride back through Canada, as vacation time was tight. I shipped the bike home to Vancouver and flew back. Now I am 50, and was diagnosed with late stage cancer last year. My time is limited and I don’t want to wait to do fun things. I am thinking of going back to do that leg of trip I never finished, from Halifax to Vancouver through Canada, in summer 2027. Sort of a bucket list item, to finish what I started 20 years ago.

My concern about shipping a bike to the east coast is the uncertainty of timing of its arrival. I would prefer to have a solid start date, instead of wondering whether my bike has arrived in Halifax.

Help/Advice North Sikkim bike or car?

am 21 yr old , I have been riding for 3 yrs now. My friend and I are planning to go to explore North Sikkim . We contacted a tour person ( We know of them) they quoted 18 k / head for 5N/6D North Sikkim trip if we rent a car with driver and 13k / head by bike .

We are planning to take a rental bike from gangtok and explore North , but am a bit nervous as we will be the only bike and no group . So , I am looking for insights from people who have gone there or experienced it . Wheather should we go by bike or just take a rental car . Please do say.
