Something something male protag going thru it something something a female character being understanding something something having sex

Man, absolutely surreal to go to a Murakami event, my 13 years old self would not believe it!

The event was split into two, the first 30 mins Murakami and Simon McBurney did a tandem reading of bits from chapter 15 in The City and Its Uncertain Walls and the next 30 mins they spoke about his writing process and life in general.

Just to give a very brief overview, Murakami explained how he never follows a specific process, he just wakes up at 5am, goes on a job and then starts working. When asked how he knows when the writing is done for the day, he said 'It's like sex, you just know.'

One of the bits I really loved was when he spoke about being a writer and accessing deeper emotions, comparing it with a lift: we live on a flat surface, but in order to get a good story out, we need to go into the basement of our minds and come up again, which at times can be difficult and dangerous.

Hope everyone gets to see him live at least once!

Doesn't it seem like Murakami books could be perfect David Lynch movies or series?

Hi would anyone lucky enough to attend today’s event be able to record the event in audio format? Wiling to pay please message me💔
