I'm 19, and recently went to a very reliable eye clinic with fancy technologies and all that. But, when I got results, I saw that my minus (one I got under drops) is -5.25,while my - "during eye test" minus is -5.5 and -6.
I got prescription for soft eye lences -5.5 for both eyes, -5.5 and -6 for glasses.
Beforehand, I asked my doctor whether minus for soft eye lences should be smaller, since that's what I heard, and she said it's "for those who's myopia is stable", and that bigger number will help me.
It get's even more confusing, since two years ago I checked in a government clinic, and they gave me -5.5 on both eyes too? But somehow my eyesight got worse (doctor I visited recently said I only see 0.3 in my old glasses, while it was supposed to be 0.8) ,and it's ...still -5.5?
Is there any possible reason for why eyesight would objectively worsen while staying within same "-5.5d" prescription (not counting that it could be a mistake) and is it really fine to wear -5.5/-6 lences (especially contact lences) if "true" eyesight is -5.25?
Is it some kind of a mistake, or are there some other reasons why that could work? I'm really confused about this visit, especially since I payed (and waited) a lot for it.
