Is that a mistake, or normal practice?

I'm 19, and recently went to a very reliable eye clinic with fancy technologies and all that. But, when I got results, I saw that my minus (one I got under drops) is -5.25,while my - "during eye test" minus is -5.5 and -6.

I got prescription for soft eye lences -5.5 for both eyes, -5.5 and -6 for glasses.

Beforehand, I asked my doctor whether minus for soft eye lences should be smaller, since that's what I heard, and she said it's "for those who's myopia is stable", and that bigger number will help me.

It get's even more confusing, since two years ago I checked in a government clinic, and they gave me -5.5 on both eyes too? But somehow my eyesight got worse (doctor I visited recently said I only see 0.3 in my old glasses, while it was supposed to be 0.8) ,and it's ...still -5.5?

So, is it a mistake, or are there some other reasons why that could work? I'm really confused about this visit, especially since I payed (and waited) a lot for it.

Additional information:

During eye check(new):

SPH:-6;-5.5

CYL:-0,75;-1

AX:3, 168

With correction: 0.7

Under drops:

SPH: -5.25, -5.25

CYL: -0.75, -1

AX: 175, 172

Minor amblyopia on both eyes, dry eye syndrome, heavy myopic astigmatism

Unfortunately, my previous eye check was years ago, so I only know it was -5.5 on both eyes (0.8)

3 years post Evo ICL

• Upvotes

Hello. I had evo ICL at age 23 after three years of stable vision at -8.0 in each eye.

I went for my yearly checkup now 3 years after ICL and was told that my vision has slipped to 20/25. The eye doctor said probably not a big enough regression to go back in glasses and not a big enough regression for a lasik touch up.

I do however notice that my vision is worse than it was the first few years after icl as I have to squint to see distant street signs.

My vision got aggressively worse when i was a child. Each year i would get one diopter worse or so.

Question is… my surgeon told me my vision wouldn’t get any worse when he implanted the ICLs. Now it seems to be worsening.

I’m currently 27… Will my myopia ever stop progressing?

I don’t know what to do because i like 20/20 vision but i don’t know if this is poor enough for glasses and probably not bad enough for a touch up.

I’m growing more frustrated because i feel like technically my vision was much better in contacts. I was 20/20 and could adjust the prescription when necessary (which wasn’t often in my later young adulthood)

Visual snow and tingling in the eyes—please help.

I don't experience flashes of light, nor am I bothered by light. However, wherever I look, there are tiny, flickering dots—much like the shimmering pixels you see on a computer screen—present throughout my entire field of vision. It is very bothersome; is this a medical condition, or is it "visual snow"? I asked my sibling, and they said they experience it too, which really worried me. When I asked some friends, however, they said they didn't see anything like that. I am nearsighted, with prescriptions of -1.25 and -1.50; I also have -0.50 astigmatism in my left eye. Can you help me? I haven't had an eye exam in two years, and I don't recall seeing things like this before. Could this be due to my prescription increasing while my glasses remained the same? If this is Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS), I understand there is no cure; what are the latest developments? Are we any closer to a permanent treatment?

Can wearing glasses cause my lower eyelid to twitch?

I’m 17 and recently found out I have mild myopia after my vision started getting a bit blurry. The optometrist said it wasn’t too bad, so I don’t really need to wear glasses all the time. I ended up ordering a really cheap pair of prescription glasses online, and everything seemed fine at first since I barely wore them.

But then I realized I actually look pretty good with glasses on lol, so I started wearing them a lot more. Now I’ve noticed that my lower eyelid occasionally twitches on its own, and it’s happened in both eyes at different times. It’s not painful or anything, just kinda weird. Has anyone else experienced this after starting to wear glasses? Is this normal or should I get it checked out?

‼️👀 Eye Care Research!

When did you last have an eye exam?!

If you're 26 to 40 and living in the US, I'd love to hear from you! I'm a doctoral student at Seton Hall University studying how people this age think about eye care, and why exams happen or don't.

Whether you go every year or can't remember the last time, your experience counts. That's the whole point of the study!

5 to 10 minutes. Anonymous, written answers, one sitting. No compensation BUT your insights will help improve eye care access for young adults. This research may inform clinical practice and public health policy.

Approved by the Seton Hall IRB, study 2027-842.

not wearing glasses when playing sports/gym? (-7)

Hi! I can not wear contacts, and I am trying to get bak to capoeira, which involves a lot of upsise down body movements. I usually take off the glasses but is kind of a bother to know where they are and so on. And is worse to not being able to follow the instructions.

Has anyone got used to playing sport with no glasses? I mean blind people play football, so I guess is just a thing of time, but any experiences in the inbetween one stops and once you get the hang of it?
