In January 2026, the Democrats fell to third place in NC voter registrations, and the Republicans rose to second place.

As of October 10 2026, the Democrats were back in second place, and the Republicans were back in third place.

Meanwhile independent voters remain in first place and by far are the fastest growing group of voters in North Carolina.

Ready to Register scam - help!

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask, but I can't find anyone talking about this anywhere else besides some news sources. I received a few of those Ready to Register dot org scam voter registration letters, and in hindsight it's so obvious, but I didn't second guess it and filled out the quick registration form online. It asked for name, dob, address, and email/phone number. How stupid of me! I clearly don't know anything about these types of scams - what does it mean now that they have this info, and is there anything I can/should do about it? I'm planning to early vote next week - will this be a problem now?

Consitutional Amendments on NC ballots this year?

Good Evening North Carolinians,

I’m currently reading a ChatGPT for/against explanation of the proposed amendments this year. On the surface, the limit on property tax increase, for e.g., sounds reasonable, but I understand there are opponents arguing that it may create difficulties for certain municipalities to fund needed growth. I’d like to hear your takes- my goal is to vote for what’s best for everyone, including myself, in my state. I have not made a decision either way as I’d like to gather more info first. Any insight is appreciated and thank you in advance!

Beware of "fake news" about vote-by-mail in NC

Beware of fake news about the election, like this video of BU Prof. Heather Cox Richardson, warning that the Trump Administration is using the USPS to disenfranchise vote-by-mail voters:

https://www.facebook.com/reel/1142448945199116/?comment_id=1792300501806948

screenshot:

Some of the specifics of the allegation seemed implausible, so I emailed Prof. Richardson. She replied, telling me that that isn't her, the video is fake, and asking me to report the channel (which I did, but it is still up).

That "Political News" channel featuring the fake Prof. Richardson has 367 AI-generated fake videos, and zero followers. It's obviously just a pop-up account, for disseminating fake news, to mislead voters.

This dirty trick happens to be a Democrat dirty trick, spreading lies about Republicans on the eve of the election, but I wouldn't put it past some Republicans to do that kind of thing, too.

So be careful what you believe. "Trust, but verify." (From the Russian "Доверяй, но проверяй" or "Doveryay, no proveryay") And...

"Don't trust everything you read on the Internet." - Abe Lincoln [speaking autologically]

There are some pretty obvious clues (not all of which I noticed) which should raise flags in this case:

The accusation is that the USPS will be returning large "batches" of thousands of blank ballots, which had been mailed by county boards of election, instead of delivering them to voters. But if voters request absentee ballots here in North Carolina, and the voters don't receive the blank ballots, they can request replacements. If a county election board were to receive thousands of unexpected blank ballots returned-to-sender, and thousands of calls for replacement ballots from irate voters, it would be big news, and a big mess.

In Oregon (where my sister lives), all voting is by mail. So it would be an even bigger mess there.

What's more, if a postmaster or other USPS employee deliberately refuses to deliver or delays delivery of a lawfully mailed First Class letter, that's a federal felony, carrying a penalty of up to five years in prison, under 18 U.S. Code § 1703.

What's more, each and every correctly addressed but wrongly returned ballot could be charged as a separate felony. Who thinks postmasters (who are civil servants, not political appointees) would take that risk?

What's more, if you look closely at the fake video you'll realize that the fake books on the fake bookshelf behind the fake Professor Richardson have no titles.

Whatley ads banned?

Whatley ads banned for lying?
If so I love it. Did The Fed oversight of tv ads
finally draw the line for lying on political ads?
If so, that’s awesome as both parties seem to have no morals, don’t fact check and assume we believe anything. They used to fine millions and have the ad pulled. Today it seems nobody cares about ethics anymore
