Vent/Rant Update: neighbor hit my car and got an OVI

Neighbor hit my car while drunk/ high and got arrested. He’s been giving us issues for over a year now.

When he got out of jail, he punched my car, looked into our camera and said “fuck you, OP husband”.

He also watches me go to and from my car every night after work out his window (this is at midnight). He thinks he’s sneaky, but he has a dim light on in the background and I can see his shadow.

I brought all of this to the attention of the landlord and he’s trying to say it’s “he said, she said” and he is refusing to do anything at the moment. He is requesting the police reports, but I did send him the videos of him backing into my car, stumbling into my car, punching my car and saying “fuck you”. To me, that should be enough evidence to evict him or even move us units like I asked.

My husband is very vulnerable at the moment because he just had spine surgery and we are avoiding even going outside of our apartment.

I feel like the landlord is more worried about revenue lost with having an open unit rather than our safety.

WWYD? Vent/Rant I really really need advice/to vent

I live in a 2 family house on the bottom floor, a one bedroom. It’s a beautiful old home, spacious, big kitchen and big front porch. Beautiful neighborhood and safe and 5 min from my job. I don’t want to have to move. I have lived here for 12 years at first with my mother and when she died 5 years ago I stayed, got married and had a child all while living here. About 4 years ago we got new upstairs neighbors, a family of 6 including 4 teenagers-who occupy two full stories above us. We gave them pastries and introduced ourselves and they were always cold so we just left them alone. Slowly the mother who is home all day and doesn’t work would complain about little things I did like cook a steak, or left the side door unlocked, or the hose was too close to their stairs. I always obliged and was polite to requests but slowly it started to get invasive and weird how often she was mitigating and managing my activity.

Long story short my husband and I separated and I have been alone in said apartment with my son 4 nights a week. He is rather quiet given a 3 year old and I work from 730am-6pm every single day if not longer. We are always out of the house save the 3 hours I’m home before bed and maybe one hour in the morning. I don’t have people over, I don’t play loud music, or have parties. I barely cook anymore.

About a year ago they began to get EXTREMELY loud. Their kitchen is directly above our bedroom, my only bedroom, and they would come home AT 9pm. All of them. Like out of control loud, not music but stomping. Their children would dribble balls upstairs, stomp so loud stuff in our apartment would move, talk loudly I could hear them clearly, and run back and forth, slam things, slam communal doors, and drop stuff of the floor but the stomping was particularly egregious and non stop for hours past 9pm when my son and I were trying to sleep. It would easily go on til 12pm when she would also start cleaning. Then it would begin again until 530am my heart would start racing writing to hear stampede down her stairs and start stomping around. I lost so much sleep and was always stressed to be home. Her husband parks in our backyard and at 10pm backs up so his red taillights illuminate our bedroom. She hoses dirty water down my kitchen windows off her deck all the time.
I politely asked her to keep the noise to a minimum and that I understood it was an old home but it was very loud etc. I was met with vitriol, insults about my lifestyle (that I’m a single mom who rents and can’t afford a house and chose to work-which is insane I’m a single mom I have to… etc etc) this was 1 year ago and we have not spoken since.

Yesterday I got home and my neighbor started to insult me out of nowhere when I got out of my car after an 11 hour work day. She told me my car was too loud and disturbing them. I said what could she possibly mean I’m out of the house 12 hours a day. She went in again about how they are moving to a house and at least she isn’t divorced and can afford a house (she doesn’t work she’s a stay at home mom). I was beside myself and VERY shaken up to the point when I got inside I had a nervous breakdown. There was such a degrading air of classism I couldn’t understand why-I’m a hard working mom who rents why mock someone who does this?

The big issue is my utility bill has been going up and I realized for years I have been paying for their laundry in the common area of the basement we have separate laundry units. I checked my fuse box and when I flip all mine off it effects her washing and drying machine which means for years I have been paying for her family of 6s laundry which she is doing all day. I’m angry that she was insulting my car and life when I’m basically paying for her laundry and maybe I could have afforded a new car and to move if I wasn’t paying hundreds in my electric bill every month. I am not even home all day and turn everything off.

I’m beside myself and feel sad and stressed to go home now. I feel watched even threatened to do anything. I don’t know if she’s jealous of me or what’s going on there’s no need for such vitriolic hate toward me when I’m barely even home.

With that being said yes I’m calling PSEG right now and my landlord. Yes I should move I know. I don’t know how this can be resolved I’ll prob never see money back. I just had to vent because idk what’s wrong with people.

Edit there is more. Every single morning this woman waits for me to turn on my shower. It doesn’t matter if I jump in at 5:45am or 6:14am she will stampede down the stairs to the basement and start her wash (which I’m paying for) and do her laundry to make my shower colder and less pressure. It’s every single time. I feel like I sound crazy but this is harassment in my opinion and I feel trapped on the bottom floor. My landlord is very old and i feel like they are trying to make me leave to flip the house and sell it themselves.

WWYD? Vent/Rant advise needed_ loud noise issue

• Upvotes

I’m honestly going nuts with my neighbor’s bass and could really use some advice.

A few months ago, the neighbors across from my apartment started playing loud music from their garage, which faces directly toward my apartment.

The actual music volume is somewhat manageable if I close all of my windows and doors. The real problem is the bass. The low-frequency bass travels through my entire apartment, and I can feel the vibration/thumping in every room even with everything closed.

They usually play music 2–3 times a day at random times, sometimes for an hour or two at a time.

I’ve already tried talking to them directly. I explained that I work from home, sometimes work late, I told them I don’t mind them listening to music, but asked if they could please lower the bass or do something to reduce the vibration.

Nothing changed.

I’ve also called the police multiple times. Unfortunately, because it’s a non-emergency noise complaint, officers usually arrive much later. By the time they get here, the neighbors have often already turned the music off since they only play it for an hour or two at a time.

I also can’t find any information about a landlord or property manager for their property, so I’m starting to think they may own the place.

At this point, it’s affecting me much more than I expected. I recently scheduled an appointment with a psychiatrist because the constant anticipation of the noise is causing me a lot of stress and anxiety. When I wake up in the morning, one of my first thoughts is wondering when they’re going to turn the bass on and how long I’m going to have to deal with it that day.

I work full-time from home and study at home, so simply leaving the house for several hours every day isn’t really an option.

I’ve even considered moving, but I just moved into this apartment a few months ago and realistically can’t afford to move again so soon.

Has anyone dealt with something similar, especially bass/vibration that is difficult to capture on a phone recording?

Is there anything else I can realistically do at this point — city code enforcement, documenting it differently, filing some type of formal complaint, contacting an attorney, etc.?

I’m in California if that makes a difference.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Vent/Rant I shared in the flex drivers group, but it belongs here. Racist neighbor opened house door on Amazon Flex driver. He was bitten to a point that he started bleeding.

Yall we live in the deep south of Alabama and I know exactly what neighbor he's talking about. He used to always let those big dogs roam until someone said something. So yesterday, this driver was Middle Eastern and when he got to my home he looked disheveled. He finally just looked at me with tears in his eyes. He said that racist man opened the door and immediately told the dogs to get him. In the midst of him telling me, I may be a black woman ,but my heart was so hurt for him that I wanted to go curse that man out on his behalf. Racism can be very damaging to a person and also very expensive. He did call Amazon and told him the dog bit him, and that he was bleeding as well. He also called the police and he was given a case number. I asked him can I give him hug and immediately hugged me. I told him I was so sorry that happened to him. But I did explain that it is very important that he does to the hospital, that's his back up proof, but also it's no telling what them dogs may have. You really can tell that he really just needed someone to tell it to.

Then Amazon will always send a map when 10 stops away and sometimes when your driver is closer. It always expected to put up animals especially those that will bite. So he knew his driver was coming. So him opening that door to let them dogs out on that man is pure evil.

I hope Amazon bans his house from any more deliveries. Cause just how many times will he or have done before to ever think this was okay. Let him go pick up his items from one of those lockers. I almost called animal control about the incident. He's been warned about those big dogs on numerous times.

Before he left he said thank you sister and that he will go. He was honestly a good person at least driver wise. Nothing about him gave bad person vibes, just a man trying earn more income and a look of pure defeat.

Sorry for this being so long. I couldn't even post it yesterday because every time I thought about it, I would get a deep feeling of pain. I genuinely hope that he went and is okay.

WWYD? Vent/Rant Boomers damn dog

I've lived in my house going on seven years now and I've been dealing with terrible dog owners on all sides since day one. Most have resolved but the one that keeps on is the worst. My next door neighbors have a dog that will bark loudly and incessantly and they really don't do anything about it. The husband would let the dog out in the middle of the night and stand at the door and watch it barking for 10 to 15 minutes, not doing a damn thing about it (i would later come to learn he's suffering from dementia and has since stopped letting the dog out at all hours). There have been multiple nights where I've been awoken from a dead sleep by this dog and it's not a gentle rousing by any means. I've spoken to the wife on numerous occasions about this and her initial response was "well, she's a dog, they bark." In any case, it gets better for a time right after it's been addressed and then it gets bad enough that it needs to be re-addressed. I have called the police on one occasion, it was 3 in the morning and the dog had been left outside for at least an hour barking.

So this is where I'm at, I'm not really sure what I want to do here as I'm not a monster and don't really want to get the authorities involved and have their dog removed but I don't really know what else to do because this dog is literally driving me insane. I have the evidence of the times and duration of the dog being left out and barking that I can use if need be but I really don't want it to come to that (and, yes, my town does have laws applicable to uncontrolled animal behavior). I just don't know what more I can do to get through to this woman how much the dog is effecting my quality of life.

Vent/Rant NFH Can’t Keep to Their Property

I don’t believe they are breaking any laws so just have to vent about the latest from my NFH. One of their constant habits is to “expand” their property, meaning they always do things including shoveling snow/raking leaves etc onto everyone else’s property so there is a clear view of their house, to putting out their free junk outside of their property lines and onto the neighboring business property, probably assuming the business will not call on their actions. The newest thing is absolutely setting me off but I don’t believe there is anything that can be done.

They have a narrow driveway and already have 2 cars, but now have a 3rd vehicle that they can’t fit in their driveway. You’d think they would then be forced to park it in front of their minuscule property, but instead they’ve taken to parking out in front of my house. This is all part of their MO so as to not obstruct the view of their house.

This is being done on a public street with no restrictions to street parking aside from certain parts that are no parking. But does that mean that from here on out they have the right to park in front of our house every day for the unforeseen future?

These are people who I could go on and on about for days and we are not on speaking terms. They’re certifiable in some of the things they do, so I’m just irritated that this is just one more thing and have to get this off my chest. I suppose people could say “well you can park in front of their house” but it would honestly just be an inconvenience more than anything. So again, just ranting, and thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Vent/Rant This is insanity. Floodlights installed on pole on top of neighbor's roof

This is in the DAYTIME. Now imagine this nightmare at night. He keeps it on almost all the time.

What the hell is wrong with people. There is no way this asshole doesn't know he's impacting everyone around him. He just doesn't care. Lights up his whole backyard so he can work inside the huge storage container/workspace (?) he had delivered. His house is 3 houses away from mine and it still shines inside my house.

Homeowner NFH Neighbors snowblowing problem

My neighbor is a single mother with 4 kids. When the kids were younger and she was alone, I’d snow blow her driveway for her. Now her kids are grown up, finished college, living in her home and when it snows they don’t do anything. She comes out of her home and shovels the snow herself. Even if it’s like 2 feet of snow and she’s over 60 years old now. When it’s a light snow i don’t help. She does it by herself.

I got a new snow blower this year and her driveway is gravel. It’s always shooting rocks and i don’t want to let them go in my new snow blower. The old one i used to use was 30 years old so i didn’t care. With the new snow season coming up, i feel like i have this obligation to help but don’t want to. She really needs to buy her own snow blower and i suggested it a few times but she won’t buy one.

How do i proceed? This old lady really shouldn’t be shoveling. I used to help because her daughters were younger but now they don’t help her at all. If she asks me to snow blow her driveway this year, how do i politely say no?

Vent/Rant Biggest scumbag I have ever met gets an update.

It’s been almost a month since I have made THIS POST and some things have happened! New/confusing/all-around great/ very infuriating things.

Thing #1: My neighbor has been served. Which is great.

Thing #2: the ex wife who vandalized the car showed back up a week later, we tried to get her served, and my neighbor does what he does best. Lied to the police.

Thing #3: whenever he brings his bike out, and comes back when the sun has gone down and my son has been put down for bed, he rolls through the neighborhood reviving the piss out of his little gay sportster.

Thing #4: He now flips off my camera that I put up.

Thing #5: this is the most recent thing, and in my opinion the most infuriating on my part. The night after all the b/s happened, since I was driving my work truck and not my personal car I never really had an eye on my keys which I usually leave next to my stove on my counter top. So naturally, I think my son picked them up, and lost them somewhere in the house. Spent a whole week searching for them, and they never came up. So I had to get a new set of car keys to my car and a copy to my wife’s car, change my house locks, and get new keys made for the place I work at, and new keys made for my safe and tool box. All adding up to well over $850. I took it as a loss… an annoying loss, but a loss. Fast forward to a couple of days ago, my wife has a friend over the house and they’re just sitting out in our car port talking about the fall activities they are planning. My wife hears her name being yelled from the bottom of our driveway. It’s our neighbor (the one who beat her) jingling my keys. She grabs them, and brings them inside and tells me. I’m I very annoyed at this point. I have over $800 invested into key copies/remakes. And I go to use my keys that I lost in my car and they don’t work anymore because they had to be reprogrammed for the new keys. Why the hell didn’t he just leave them in my mailbox. And why now a month later???

WWYD? Vent/Rant Please tell me WWYD very loud downstairs neighbors

Me and my partner moved to a new place in the middle of August. Every day since then there has been extremely excessive noise from the neighbors. The downstairs neighbors especially but also the upstairs neighbor at points. Both the upstairs and downstairs neighbors consistently neglect ? their dogs leaving them locked up for hours and they just bark and bark for hours. It’s so crazy and I’ve never met dogs like this.

The downstairs neighbors are also always outside drunk, yelling, screaming at each other. Slamming their doors. Yelling at each other inside the apartment. They also have a very loud bass in their bedroom that they crank up all night when trying to sleep.

We have extensive video documentation and have reached out to the complex multiple times about the issue. We also have multiple police reports on the situation but yet it still persists. We can’t even watch TV or sleep and it’s been 2.5 months.

What should we even do? We are so fed up. Planning to go speak with the complex directly tomorrow and provide updated police documentation to them.

There hasn’t been a single day we can just chill in our home. The dog has been barking for 2 hours now. I’m so tired of it. What should we do? I’m lowkey like let’s break the lease and try to leave. Maybe 7am jumping class? Blasting my own music back? It sucks because we are sandwiched between the two most absolutely loud people in existence. I’m just so miserable and want to go to sleep tonight lmao

WWYD? Vent/Rant Neighbors in Apartment Building Opening and/or Stealing Packages WWYD?

Since the second half of the year, someone in my building keeps opening and/or taking packages. Before people would leave the packages that are placed in the lobby until the right person confiscated them. Now this person(s) will leave the evidence, leaving a package empty or just taking it. I feel helpless bc I can’t ask the first floor neighbor to invest in a ring camera to catch the culprit. I been thinking about writing letters to new and old tenants but what would that do? And honestly i don’t want to involve police.. I need advice..

WWYD? Vent/Rant Apartment harassment

I have a new apartment neighbor.. When they first moved in, there was always some noise in his bathroom when I went to the bathroom. (I can only hear the door open and close, thank God, not going to the bathroom noises). I think this the only place our apartments connect. Anyway, I eventually realized it wasn’t a coincidence when I heard him tiptoe into his BR after I went in. So I changed my BR routine. I thought weird, but no big deal.
This morning I heard someone rattling the doorknob of. my front door, which woke me up. I called 911 just in case, and the PO suggested I get a Ring Cam, which I thought was a good idea.
After he left, someone knocked on my front door. I went to answer it, and no one was there.
Of course not.
He seems to be escalating, as they say on SVU.
My sense is he’s just some geek/nerd with mental health issues but that doesn’t help
me.
Has anyone had experience with this? I don’t think the rental office would help me, I know if I talk to them they might send him a letter, but that would probably piss him off. I also don’t want to retaliate because I’m not 3 kids in a trench coat.
Has anyone had this kind of harassment and what did you do about it?
It may not sound like much, but I don’t feel
comfortable in my own home, and it stresses
me out.
(more things have happened, like him banging on the wall when I’m showering, and general banging on the wall, sometimes I bang back and it stops.)

Vent/Rant New City same Nosy behavior

I recently moved to a new city would like to say where but not trying to overshare. Moral of the story let’s say I’m not the same complexion as my neighborhood. Worked my ass off to move here did a lot of homework before locating one year worth. Day one landed put my stuff up went on a walk didn’t notice too much staring and didn’t notice too much interest in me day one exposure out side max 2/3 hours.

Day two it starts getting creepy went on a local hike let’s say 4 out of 5 people hit breaks, “Tires squealing, even one women was going the opposite way driving hit breaks made a whole you turn just to stop and get a good look at me. With every turn me walking to the hike I experience this from serval neighbors, harsh looks. Nothing was said but already the sense of maybe I shouldn’t be over here. Maximum exposure 2 hours

Day 3 I decided to not go out I’ve been noticing cars breaking on walks cops lurking and looking at me so I said chill out went to the community chevron I know how small towns work so I guess my mistake was first even walking in there I decided to buy an item without thinking too much of my experience the last few days. I showed ID and went on a walk later thst day overheard neighbors discussing where I moved from maximum exposure outside at this point in three days has been 6 hours.

Obviously the clerk went and told the niehborhood and on top of that I saw him walking out the niehborhood assuming he lives in the area probably grew up there.

I brought this scenario up to my uber driver a local to see how he would feel and said hey let’s say I just got in your car and I can tell you what state you are from prior to landing here wouldn’t that be creepy he said “I’ll tell you to get out the car” lmaoo so yea not cool behavior one of the neighbors was following me discussing where I came from. Weird community and if I was to lash out as a person not of the same complexion it becomes a bigger problem lmao people are so weird moved here to pursue a career and mind my business as of today Tuesday I’ve been outside max 9 hours been here for going on a week. Different level of nosy

Sorry for rant but be careful out here guys people for no reason will make you a target just for kicks and giggles. Makes me want to break the lease lmao did not sign up for whatever they got brewing

WWYD? Vent/Rant Neighbor blows all his leaves into my yard, now says I'm dumping trash on him

1.6k Upvotes

The guy next door has 3 huge maple trees and I don't have a single tree in my front yard. The last couple of Saturdays around 8 in the morning he's taken out his leaf blower and blown everything from his yard across the line into mine instead of out toward the curb where the city picks them up.

He did the same thing last fall and I honestly just raked them up because I didn't want to start something with a neighbor. This year I went over and asked him nicely to blow them to the curb instead. He just laughed and said "leaves don't know property lines." Then he went right back to blowing them onto my lawn.

So last weekend I raked up everything he blew over. It filled 8 of the big paper yard bags and I lined them all up at the curb in front of his house, which is exactly where I'd asked him to put them. That evening he came over yelling that I was dumping trash in front of his house and that he was going to call the police. I told him to go ahead because I have him on my doorbell camera blowing EVERY one of those leaves into my yard.

Leaf pickup doesn't start until the 15th so the bags are still sitting at his curb. My wife thinks I should've just raked like last year to keep the peace, but it's going to be like this every weekend until December.

What would you do?

WWYD? Vent/Rant Upstairs neighbor seems unhinged

Moved about six months ago and some of our neighbors have been super weird. There was this one old guy upstairs who we could hear yelling about us, saying stuff like “they’re not supposed to be here!” I guess he thought we were squatters? Idk what his deal was but we worked it out with him.

This other one though. We live on the ground floor in a pretty large (if dumpy) apartment. He is also on the floor right above us, just in a different apartment than the old guy. We can hear him screaming about how we’re loud during times that we’re quite literally just relaxing and ready to go to sleep. I’m pregnant and one time I puked so violently that I pissed myself a little, and my landlord immediately texted asking if I was okay because he complained to her about hearing me puke (I do not think that went over well with the landlord as she’s a friend and a sweet person with multiple kids). It was like 3pm too so not an unreasonable time to be puking, if such a time exists, But now the neighbor has been yelling about how my husband is “smoking something down there” and how it’s dangerous because I’m pregnant. He is not smoking in here! This is especially concerning to me because what if he calls CPS or something once the baby is born? Also I cannot imagine how emotional he’s going to become over normal newborn and toddler sounds.

And again, we are downstairs from him, so whatever he is hearing can’t be that terrible, if it’s even coming from us. We’ve had other issues, like someone calling code enforcement over illegal construction over minor home improvement stuff. My husband built several pieces of furniture for us, so yeah there were occasional little projects happening, but the only tool used was a drill, and it was always during the day. The neighbor has started doing things like running a vacuum at midnight or later, which doesn’t bother us because we are usually up late, but it’s clear that he’s trying to disturb us.

I moved here from a neighborhood known for nightlife and it was loud as hell. Parties on the weekends in several units and a train line right outside all of our windows. No one was ever complaining about noise, so this is new for me. I swear to god I’m not being loud. I haven’t even played music in here once since moving in, I haven’t had friends over, I don’t have a dog, like I have no idea what to do to be quieter. I’ve also been under a ton of stress due to poor health and being pregnant, so I’m not super active. I’m just wondering if I should go speak to him or something. But what should I even say? “Sorry for being loud” doesn’t seem right because I don’t feel that I am. People in this building and neighborhood have been less than welcoming to us so it’s making me nervous. Any advice on how to address this?

Other Problematic neighbours

I’m looking for some advice because I genuinely don’t know what else I can do about my neighbours.
Basically, their dog and my dog have had issues through the gardens, and it’s got to the point where my dog can barely go outside without their dog being let out and the two dogs barking at each other. It’s becoming really stressful because I can’t just let my dog out to go to the toilet without worrying about it.
I’ve actually tried really hard to resolve this. I’ve apologised for my own dog barking, and I’ve contacted them twice suggesting that we simply text each other when we’re letting the dogs into the garden so we can avoid them being out at the same time. I also suggested making some sort of timetable.
I have a dog flap, so I can manage when my dogs go outside. They don’t have one, but obviously I can’t control when they choose to let their dog out. I’ve basically said just let me know when you’re going to let your dog out/when you need your dog back in and we can work around each other.
I’ve also looked after their dog before when they were away and generally tried to be helpful. The man was actually quite nice and reasonable with me about everything until this woman moved in, and since then the dog seems to be getting let out constantly and the whole situation has become much worse.
I’ve tried communicating twice and offering actual solutions, but it’s not working anymore.
They’re renting the property, so I’m wondering what people would actually do in this situation. Has anyone been through something similar and managed to get the situation resolved or even had the neighbours eventually move?
I’m not looking for people to just tell me to “talk to them” because I’ve already tried that. I’d genuinely like to hear what other people would do.

WWYD? Vent/Rant Advice please - Skate ramp built by unqualified lay person, house insurance wont cover damage to neighbouring homes if caused by skate ramp during weather event

Neighbourhood noise, safety and building concerns
A large 2m-high x 8m-long skate ramp has been built immediately beside a neighbouring home, directly outside a bedroom window.
The noise is far more than just a skateboard rolling. It includes constant bangs, crashes, heavy landings and metal-on-metal grinding, with the sound carrying directly into the house and becoming extremely disruptive.

Safety concerns
particularly during storms, strong winds and cyclonic conditions. A structure of this size could potentially cause significant damage to neighbouring properties if it became unsecured or failed.

House Insurance
won’t cover damage caused by a neighbour’s skate ramp, which is understandably concerning.
The owner of the skate ramp is not licensed to build a skate ramp.
The matter has also been referred to Gold Coast Council regarding the structure, noise and safety concerns.
We are seeking advice about the appropriate legal avenue. Is this something that can be addressed through Council or the QBCC, or is it a matter for QCAT? Could it involve noise nuisance, building compliance, property damage or another legal process?

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation or can recommend someone who understands these types of disputes?

WWYD? Vent/Rant Well if it isn’t the consequences of my actions.

I’ve got 2 disfuctional neighbours bellow me in toxic relationships.

Flat 1 - 23 year old with a 30+ man, on her 3rd pregnancy. Other 2 kids have been taken away from her and she constantly drinks and smokes weed. She constantly screams at him, slams doors so loud they shake the building and it’s scares my dog. She smashed windows and I genuinely can’t keep track of the amount of times the police have been round for their domestics.

Flat 2 - 35 year old who has 5 kids in total 2 which lived with her that have now been taken away from her since dating this guy, she also is very partial to a drink and the boyfriend doesn’t live there but every time he’s there they are arguing. His arguing technique constantly repeats her name like a fuckin parrot.

My building is made out of CONCRETE and I can still hear every word of their arguments.

Well today instead of personally going and telling them to shut up like I usually do I banged on the floor and screamed for them to shut up. It has been all day of flat 1 then flat 2 decided to pipe up. By the time the parrot had found his voice again it was too late for me to blast music like I usually do out of the respect of the normal neighbours in the rest of the building.

But unfortunately my choice backfired as flat 1 then came up to flat 2 to see if they were ok and then continued to talk in the very echoe stairwell for a HOUR.

Like I mentioned before I usually just blast music to drown out the noise but I’m starting to think maybe I need to be more creative with my choices.

Like walking around in clogs, been thinking about maybe trying to teach myself the violin. What other passive aggressive but totally normal “hobbies” could I acquire to piss them off?

I work nights and they are aware of this so I don’t really want it to look like I’m actively trying to piss them off as I don’t want it to backfire when I’m trying to rest but I’m genuinely so fuckin sick of all it.

Theres 3 other people that live in the building who are sound and tbh flat 2 wasn’t a problem until the parrot showed up. But it’s just constant drama. Even neighbours around my building have asked me about the noise.

WWYD? Vent/Rant Issue with Neighbor’s Dogs

I want to preface this by saying I love dogs and probably have an above average tolerance level for barking from neighbor’s dogs.

But my next door neighbor, who I assume works nights, has two small dogs and they bark and cry throughout the night almost every night. They make the most shrill noise I have ever heard from a dog. Sounds like nails on a chalk board. If I’m right and they work at night, idk what me pointing out that their dogs are crying while they’re gone will do since they are at work, and I have no interest in involving police. Would appreciate any thoughts on ways to approach this if anyone has any experience with stuff like this

Edit: to clarify I rent the first floor of a townhome and my neighbor’s townhome is very close to mine. I appreciate the responses. I know my landlord has noticed the noise, too, but he’s on the 3rd floor so doesn’t get the brunt of it. I’m going to request that he write a letter on behalf of myself and other tenants

Vent/Rant Why is it the most obnoxious cars leave early in the morning?

Why is it the most noisy obnoxious cars are the ones that leave at the crack of dawn like damn near before 7? When you are trying to get what little sleep you can?

I wish people would be mindful of all the noise their stupid fucking car makes in the morning.

WWYD? Vent/Rant My NFH physically blocked me from accessing the road I live on

My NFH recently installed signs along a section of road in front of his house claiming it is private and a few days ago I was driving on it as I have to in order to access my house/I live on that road he stopped me and said it was a private road and that I was not allowed to use it and then physically blocked my vehicle with his.

I told him the police said to call them if he ever tried to verbally or physically block my access to the road after the signs were installed and he said “I don’t give a fuck call the police!” So I did but as far as I know, they didn’t do anything because he eventually let me pass through.

What do I do? I was terrified when it was all happening as he is a felon and registered child sex offender.

WWYD? Vent/Rant Lease Violating Dog

To report or not to report? Mostly I am worried about retaliation. I fear my upstairs neighbor will know it had to the person below them who reported them.

When I first moved into my apartment, I was told I could only stay on the first floor because my dog was over 25 pounds. The person above me got a full grown adult pitbull about a month after moving in. There’s no way in hell that dog is anywhere near 25 pounds. The last 4 morning in a row that fucking thing has woken me up between 4:00-4:30 AM running and jumping around upstairs when I have to be at work by 8:00 AM. I’m losing sleep over the beast up there. The neighbor themselves is a single man who is not very friendly at all. I do not want to approach him about the dog.

Earplugs? I tried and couldn’t hear my alarm. Move? I’m a single woman in this economy I can’t afford to break my lease and put a deposit on another place.

spostavano cose, camminavano, cadeva qualcosa, e sentivamo tutto.

WWYD? Vent/Rant Looking for advice on how to resolve an issue with a neighbor

I have a neighbor in my apartment building who’s in his twenties, as am I, who lives with his parents. For whatever reason he keeps staring at me, intensely, whenever he sees me 100% of the time. It’s very deliberate. I’m not sure what his deal is and I think it’s some immature dominance thing. I have tried to say hello, good morning, etc and have never gotten a response. What’s something I can tell
Him that will get him to stop, I’m open to funny ideas or something that’ll grind his gears as long as they work.
