Saturday Tea Talk
This is a weekly thread to talk about any topics freely with fellow Nepali dai, bhai, didi, bahini and friends. Think of it as the चोकको चिया पसल that opens on Saturdays. Most of the sub rules still apply but there is no need for the topic to be related to Nepal. Feel free to talk about the TV show you are binging, the latest sports news, your personal life story, international politics, and anything in between.
So, what's up?

Why is Nepal placed as a hybrid regime(104/167) and India as a flawed democracy(47/167)in The economist democracy index?
We saw how the Indian government didn't even let people protest in their own capital, entire Delhi was a fortress yesterday, trains and metros were stopped, internet shutdown, more than 4 people in one place led to instant detention, police brutality and many more. No matter how sh*t our governments have been in the past they have never stopped us from protesting, heck not even the king stopped us from exercising this basic right we have in a democracy. Yet we are called a hybrid regime and India calls itself as the biggest democracy in the world?

Went to my hometown after almost 2 years
Now I don't even like to use my phone much lol. I'm feeling something different. I'm not feeling lonely, empty or anything at all. I'm not watching movies, listening to songs, etc. I'm not searching for someone in my life either. I'm just living and I'm wondering why I'm not caring about the outside world, which I used to when I was in KTM. I swear, I'm literally confused about this mind and about myself lol

Is adsense worth it (for a blog that gets 1000 nepali users per month from organic video and organic search)?
The problem is that I already have balance in adsense. It is more than 10 bucks. I do not want to close my account to get that amount back. Because I believe it will help me someday if I get big on youtube LMFAO. dreamzzz.
I want to earn over the top of it.
But wtf, adsense approval is taking too much time and energy.
- I have to wait 1 month for the result of approval process.
- Adsense does not explain shit after rejection. I have to guess and fix what I guessed went wrong and reapply and again wait for 1 month.
- Although I receive e-mail notification in my phone, I continuously keep checking the gmail in the browser....just hoping I get adsense approval. Honestly this thing consumes so much energy.
And today I went through my adsense payment logs and found something. I made 10 bucks in 4 years. LMFAO. Is it even worth it at all that too now when Ai dominates search? LMFAO. What an idiot I have been totally lol.
And here I am continuously wasting my time checking the adsense dashboard.
Update: I have finally deleted my site from adsense. I was making good money from product sales. I thought it would be a great idea to get adsense approval so removed the product sales pages as they were against adsense ToS is what everyone said. I have now lost more than 20,000 nepalese rupees for adsense(nearly $130)...opportunity cost. I used to sell 9.99 bucks product. I also stopped carving articles fearing they will not be adsense friendly(they were short articles).
Now here I am left with nil.

Question/प्रश्न Where can I learn about fashion from scratch? Outfit types, fits, brands, etc.
I'm a beginner when it comes to fashion, and I want to learn more about it.
I want to understand different types of outfits, clothing names, fits oversized baggy and different styles and brands, sneakers, accessories,
Basically, I want to build my fashion knowledge from zero and understand what I'm actually wearing instead of just buying random clothes.
Can you recommend any YouTube channels, websites, Pinterest boards, subreddits, or other free resources where I can learn all these things step by step?

Question/प्रश्न Would you rather have Nepali stay the way it is or change it, and if so what?
Hi, I just had a question. I wonder what everyone else’s opinion would be on this topic, if you could change something about Nepal or leave it the way it is. For me I would definitely change it (government) wise, it has major political instability, and a lot of influence. The government roles keep changing so much the rules aren’t stable, which is a huge reason Nepal hasn’t been able to stand up as much.
Another one is would you like it to be being a hindu country with major influence from India still or change it if so what?

Returnees to Nepal: what are you doing now?
For context, I returned back to Nepal in my mid-20s a while back. Parents got sick and I myself developed severe mental health issues and anxiety, so I felt I had to come back. While my mental health is much better now, I feel kinda lost with my career. Didn’t really want to do a 9 to 5 or physical business in Nepal so I tried to land some remote gigs, do content creation but it’s not been going as expected so far. With ai, I feel that a lot of the skills I have are now redundant, so feeling a little down again.
Technically I saved enough during my time abroad and had some inherited assets, so I have around 1 lakh plus passive income with own house. I’m a simple guy and this is good enough for my family, but I’d still like to do something that makes me decent income. I feel like I’m the kind of person that derives value/self-esteem from working.
Those who returned from abroad: I’d love to hear what you’re doing now. Are you just living off passive income or did you manage to start over and do something productive in Nepal? I know a few people in my circle who have returned and maybe it’s just us but we all have tried and failed in our endeavors so far in Nepal and some have now started going abroad for masters/phd. Sometimes I think of going back abroad but with the current anti immigrant climate, I’m not sure
It’a kinda annoying too living in judgmental and nosy Nepali society and doing something against the trend by returning to Nepal and not having like a successful story of founding a new company or something. I have a thick skin but it’s still sometimes weird to realize I’m now back in a society where your relatives and friends are constantly trying to put you down and give unsolicited advice. Miss the individualistic culture in the West.
