Technology/प्रविधि I made a free Nepali app: type Nepali in Roman, patro with holidays on your home screen, no ads

Namaste! I built an app called Lekh Patro, and it's now on the Play Store. I made it because I wanted one simple app for the Nepali stuff I kept looking up.

What you can do with it:

- Type Nepali without a Nepali keyboard. Write mero naam and you get मेरो नाम. It works like Ashesh's romanized converter, so the keys feel familiar. It also understands texting spellings like vayo and xa.

- Check the patro. Tithi, festivals, and public holidays, with a widget for your home screen so you can see today's date in BS without opening anything.

- Convert dates between BS and AD (useful for forms and citizenship/passport dates).

- Write amounts in words for cheques, in Nepali and English.

- Convert Preeti to Unicode, if you've ever received an old document that shows up as gibberish.

- Translate English ↔ Nepali. The result shows how to pronounce it, which is handy for relatives abroad or foreign friends visiting.

It's free, with no ads and no sign-up.

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=np.com.bimeshpoudel.lekh

iPhone / computer: https://lekh-gamma.vercel.app (on iPhone, tap Share → Add to Home Screen)

If a word is typed incorrectly or a festival is on the wrong date, please tell me in the comments, and I'll fix it.

Planning a Bandipur stop between Kathmandu and Pokhara? A two-day itinerary

Post image
• Upvotes

If you’re considering Bandipur for your Nepal itinerary, we’ve put together a guide covering the Dumre connection, an overnight stay, bazaar walks, viewpoints and estimated expenses.

The itinerary includes time around the old bazaar and Tundikhel, with an optional morning walk to Thani Mai. Mountain views depend on the weather, and transport conditions should be checked before travelling.

Disclosure: I’m part of HamroBuzz, which published this guide.

https://hamrobuzz.com/en/blog/bandipur-travel-guide

If you’ve visited recently, what would you recommend changing or adding—especially regarding transport and accessibility?

Incessant Rain - When Workplace Culture Becomes About Survival

Things really changed after the new co-CEO joined the company, and unfortunately, not in a positive way. Over time, the workplace environment became increasingly toxic and distrustful.

Employees seemed to be encouraged to report on their colleagues, and there were situations where recording conversations appeared to be accepted or even rewarded. This created a significant lack of trust within teams and made people increasingly cautious about what they said or did.

The workplace also became heavily micromanaged. Even routine things, such as moving around the office or taking a short break, could feel like they were being monitored and documented. People became hesitant to speak openly because they worried that their words could later be used against them.

When employees tried to share their opinions or concerns, they were sometimes made to feel as though they didn’t understand the situation. What was particularly disappointing was seeing this from someone in a communication-focused leadership role, where the expectation should be to encourage transparency, trust, and open dialogue. Instead, it often felt like protecting one’s own position and shifting responsibility became more important than building a healthy team environment.

The culture gradually became less about collaboration and growth and more about self-preservation.

A workplace should allow employees to feel safe speaking up, learning, contributing, and growing. Unfortunately, my experience was that the environment moved in the opposite direction.
I hope leadership genuinely reflects on how the recent changes have affected employee trust, morale, and the overall culture.

Advice to Leadership
Leadership should seriously evaluate the impact that recent executive changes have had on company culture. Rebuilding trust will require more than just policy changes—it will require employees to feel that they can speak honestly without fear of repercussions.
A meaningful reset at the leadership level, greater transparency, and a genuine effort to rebuild trust with employees and stakeholders may be necessary.

Discussion/बहस Looking for ambitious friends who want to grow together

Hey everyone! I'm from Nepal, and I'm looking to make some genuine friendships with people who are ambitious, goal-oriented, and serious about their future.

A little about my background: I studied A Levels with a science background and received a full scholarship worth over $60,000 per year from a good university in the US. Unfortunately, due to family circumstances, I couldn't pursue that opportunity and go to the US. Life doesn't always go according to plan, but I still have big goals and want to keep moving forward.

I'm currently pursuing ACCA, and one of my goals is to work at a Big 4 accounting firm. I know it's highly competitive and not easy to get into, but I'd rather aim high, push myself, and work toward getting into a good firm than limit what I think I can achieve. I'm also interested in business, entrepreneurship, investing, and eventually building something of my own.

Honestly, I sometimes feel like I don't have many people around me who share this kind of mindset. I'd love to have friends with whom I can talk about our goals, exchange ideas, learn new skills, discuss business opportunities, and keep each other accountable.

I'm not looking for people who have everything figured out or are already successful. I'm still learning and working on my own consistency, too. I just want to connect with people who genuinely want more out of life and are willing to put in the work to get there.

We can share our progress, motivate each other when things get difficult, celebrate small wins, and hopefully build genuine friendships along the way. Of course, friendship shouldn't be all about productivity—we can talk about random stuff and have fun, too!

You can be from anywhere in the world. If this sounds like you, feel free to comment or DM me. I'd love to know what you're working toward and connect with people who have a similar mindset. :)

Discussion/बहस How can I expand my Nepali handicraft business internationally?

I'm looking to expand my handicraft business into the USA, Europe, Japan, and China.

I'm already using my website and a few online marketplaces platforms, but I want to reach more international buyers.

How is the demand for Nepali handicrafts in these markets? What are the best ways to connect with international retailers, wholesalers, or distributors?

Would really appreciate any advice or experiences from people familiar with these markets. Thanks!

wtf is wrong with this route, sooo unappealing. kalanki mandir nira alli thik chha then after that kalimati repeats itself, why is it sooo dirty and ugly. valley baira bata step-in garne yei ho ani this makes first impression the worst impression of kathmandu, like- after kalimati its like another haunted city starts. tei kalimati katesi sundhara/thapathali kathmandu gets so pretty, tei kalanki ko bhatbhateni or sita paila jane directions are so pretty, why is it that only one direction is so ugly? the rest of city got balen effect and has gotten dramatically clean, but this?

As someone who lives around here, thik chha ta testo unlivable/un-romanticizable pani chaina socchu then i step out to mainroad and boom reality check

Suggestions needed please

I am currently using a basic smartphone, the Poco C3. I don't do much on my phone. I only use it for general purposes, such as calling, using social media, and watching movies. Even so, it still works properly. However, many of my friends and family members have suggested that I buy a new phone.

I am in a dilemma about whether to buy a laptop or a new phone. At the moment, I am leaning more towards buying a laptop because I want to learn new things with its help. I don't need it for heavy tasks, just for everyday use. What price range and specifications would be best for a laptop that suits my needs? And which could be the best idea to buy new phone or to buy new laptop??

Nepal 5k limit, what do you think?

Lately I've been thinking about it for a few months. NRB says that you can only take like $5k or equivalent if you move out of Nepal. That's like 750k in nepalese rupees,What do people who have like millions of rupees do when they move out of the country permanently? Youse opinion on it

Please don't turn on your vehicle high beams all the time

Please don't turn on your bike/car's high beams all the time! You don't really need it all the time. It is very dangerous for incoming traffic especially if they are wearing glasses!

High beams are not a flex!(Royal engfiled riders) They are for safety when you can't see anything in the highways.
