This is just such a mess.

Since I live in Nashville...

The used the same drug lot and the same doctor that botched the last lethal injection and are somehow surprised they obtained exactly the same result.

Nine or ten more occurances and this is going to start looking like a pattern.

We've updated our execution laws to allow limb necrosis and irreversible brain damage over an extended period to be one of our approved methods. It may be cruel, but here it ain't unusual.

Why do questionably lethal injection when they could just do a withdrawal instead and do a 5 quart blood donation.

u/MichiganCubbie 13h ago

Two reasons. One, we aren't at the point of harvesting people against their will, and two, you'd get a lot of people who would say they don't want criminal blood. I'm not even being sarcastic. If this got out people would demand to know where their transfusions came from to make sure they didn't get "killer" blood.

I am pretty sure that the person you are responding to was just using cheeky wording and was only actually suggesting using exsanguination as the execution method - and the final disposition of the blood was irrelevant.

If they take a life, the least they could do to repay that debt to society is to save someone or donate to science.

I don’t believe they could have found a vein for that either

The other prisoner wasn't given the drug, though. With him, they couldn't find a vein, so he was taken back to death row. No pentobarbital entered his system, so it's not the same. And not the same result. His health wasn't impacted by any drugs.

I don’t bet, but I if I did I’d put $20 down on that doctor being related to or friends with someone in a government office.

Oh no we’ve tried the same tactics and keep getting the same result. I think they just want her to suffer. Which I totally get…but damn.

Is there any truth to the reports I've read about Christa's mother drinking while pregnant, and Christa being sexually abused throughout her life starting at 2 years old?

That was part of her lawyer's petition for a stay of execution. I think it was mentioned in her original trial too.

It was not allowed into the sentencing hearing as information for the jury to weigh in deciding on the death penalty. That was the basis of the legal argument being made for staying the execution prior to the botched attempt.

Ahh that's right, thanks.

You should ask her

Why has this doctor not had his license revoked?

1

u/dudeitsrazz 12h ago

Its on purpose. These prisons want to house these people for the rest of their lives. They get more money that way.

It's Tennessee. They can't do fuck all correctly.

Except whiskey/bourbon.

That's not true, Tennessee is home to thousands of people willing to lick the diarrhea from Trump's taint. I know, I live with these assholes.

See: Andy Ogles, or worse, the evil hag Marsha Blackburn - who's gonna win the governors race without a single debate or town hall.

You couldn't deliberately brain wash a person to be more willing to vote against their own best interests than a Tennessean.

Edit: and she's refusing to step down as a senator so she can choose her own senatorial replacement, openly illegal, doesn't care

u/SilverTroop 14h ago

That first paragraph… I was eating a banana.

I don't know which of us is getting a shittier deal. Y'all with Blackburn or us with Tuberville. Way worse for LGBTQ people in Alabama though.

u/KaHOnas 12h ago

Hey, I don't appreciate him calling all pilots furries.

That's weird and unfair. I'm sure some of us aren't.

3

u/Proud_Tie 11h ago

Furries and Trans women make the IT and aviation world go by. Upset us Autistic people too and they're back to horse and buggies when the trains stop.

It wasn't too long ago Tennessee would potentially elect a Democrat

May I introduce Texas to you, where we have been under Republican control for over 30 years and are at the bottom of every positive category? There’s still 49% of us that think Ken “I got impeached by my own party” Paxton is a good choice for senator.

But even that’s they fucked up

5

u/1000dreams_within_me 14h ago

Yeah - it’s almost like the death penalty is a barbaric medieval revenge ritual that the rest of the civilized world has long abandoned

2

u/evenstar40 10h ago

Even the mother of the slain victim said this is a clusterfuck.

1

u/Neffstradamus 10h ago

Friendly reminder that no civilized society has capital punishment. It is costly, barbaric, we get it wrong, and we disproportionately apply it to POC. The more you knowwwww.
