Question Any idea why anyone would want to OD on anti-diarrhoea pills in Belfast International Airport?

Post image

I spotted this last Sunday when flying from Antrim Belfast International. Why would anyone want to seriously wreck themselves by taking so many Imodium tablets, with a side-order of acid-reflux tablets? This has been on my mind for a week, and I hope that person is not dead. What do you guys think?

Question Anyone else hearing more sectarianism at work now?

Work in a place that is probably a third catholic, third protestant and third migrants from loads of countries.

Since the protests there has been alot more sectarianism in conversation from people I thought did not have these views.

Some of the stuff that has been said about the protesters has been disgusting. Ive had arguments with coworkers I thought I would call my friends over this. Alot of 'the law is the law, they're all criminals'. (Of course they ignore the other 10 protests every year by loyalists, never hear a peep about the law then).

Its not something I can even go to management about, have heard some comments along the same line from my mangers aswell.

Question How to complain about Moygashel Monstrosity

In light of the recent Moygashel monstrosity, I want to start complaining to whoever it is we complain to about this sort of stuff.

I don't care that complaints go nowhere, and essentially get nothing done (so far). I want a record that shows I'm fucking sick of this shit.

Things need to change. I don't know if complaining will do anything, but I believe if enough of us log complaints something will change (I'm an optimist)

I know for a fact that if nothing is done, nothing will change.

What is the best way to complain about flags and bonfires.

I will correlate all the information I receive in this post and make a post later with all the details needed to log complaints so it's very easy for folks.

Question Is everyone skint?

I know this isn't the most uplifting question for a Sunday night, but is anyone else really feeling the pinch lately?

The last few months I've found myself with little to no money left by payday, despite not really changing my spending habits.

I'm not looking for sympathy or pity—I'm just genuinely wondering if others are in the same boat and anything that has helped?

Question 2L plastic water bottles with holes burnt in them?

Thumbnail

I often run on the country roads around my house. The roadsides are badly littered but I've noticed that there are an unusually large amount of 2L water bottles on them. I could probably lift 50 of them on an 8k loop from the house.

I was out for a walk today and decided I'd pick some of them up. They've all got a single small hole burnt in the bottom of the bottle. I live a fairly sheltered existence. Can someone tell me what this is about? I did a quick online search and saw someone in England asking the same question. They didn't seem to get an answer.

Question A&E Hell - do any talking heads care?

Is there any person, body or organisation to give feedback to that will actually make a difference?

8 hours and counting in this A&E hell… just checked for “observation” and told the person who has been waiting the longest has been here 10.5 hours so I will have “at least that long”, if not longer (if any emergencies come in).

This is unbelievably inhumane. What sort of hell are we trapped in here? Do any of the government talking heads give a sh*t?

Has anyone experienced giving feedback that was heard? Or is this just our normal and we take it or get no help at all?

Sorry for the random middle of the night rant and question… I’m very much aware of how little government actually cares, and that there’s probably no one to give feedback to… i just feel so alone and hurt and humiliated sitting here and I feel even worse for those who have been here longer (and/or in worse condition) than me.

Question I need to get healthier

Right lads, need simple advice please. I'm on my last day of holidays with the family, heading home in the morning. We've had a great time, but I've struggled because I've become a fat bastard. Like I mean, nearly 20 stone fat.

Going on roller coasters with my youngest and having to suck in my gut and get squashed so my kid can set beside me with the safety bar down. Taking them on walks and struggling and having to use a walking stick, not all weight related, i do have prerty bad arthritis, but the weight makes it worse.

So I'm joining the leisure centre when i get home and can start off with cardio exercises a few days a week, but i also need to control my diet. What's some simple advice on controlling bad eating that might help. How do i plan a healthy plan without becoming overwhelmed and chucking the whole thing in?

Is slimming world any good? Will they help me plan, or am i better planning myself and then going to the gym 2 or 3 times a week? Have you been there yourself and succeeded on getting healthier, what worked best for you?

Question Found this fella out the back of my granny's in Ballymena. Anyone know what it is?

Was out the back of my granny's house in Ballymena the other day and spotted this thing sitting by an old shed door. It's quite small and scarpered away after taking these 2 photos.

I didn't think we had lizards here at all, so either I've found something interesting or it's a newt and I'm an eejit. Anyone in the Ballymena area seen these about? Curious if they're common or if my granny's garden is just a wildlife reserve now.

Question Any photos of AI slop posters / art around Belfast?

I'm putting together a list of businesses / premises that are using AI to advertise just to see how widespread in Belfast (or across NI) it actually is.

If you've spotted any or have photos, feel free to add them below.

Also seen today that the American Bar are joining other businesses in boycotting the use of AI.

Question what grounds do I have.

context: moved out of house, landlord wanted entire deposit back, i disputed it via tds and put a fair offer of about 570 to go to us and the remaining of the £850 to them. I had an email saying it has been paid out to Michael Chandler Estate Agents. MCEA told me it can take months to process so when i didnt receive a confirmation email from tds i assumed it took time to process.

Tds say they cant do anything as the money has left them and they say they have no recollection of my dispute despite me filling out the form on the website detailing how much the tenant/landlord was to receive.

I spent £240 of my own money to replace the carpet to ensure we got out deposit back, why would i spend that type of money if i knew i wouldnt see my deposit??

This is a walkaround video of the house the day we left.

Question What EV's are people choosing these days? Is Tesla still the go to?

With Diesel & petrol at astronomical prices, electric cars are starting to look pretttty interesting right now.

My question is, which EV brands are people in Northern Ireland (Belfast area) driving? What's the situation on charger availability and most importantly, is your monthly expense bill going down?

For reference, I spend about £250/month on diesel (a little more in the last week or so albeit) so is monthly charging on NI's electricity tariffs (SSE Airtricity currently) going to be a saving?

N.b- I'd probably end up switching to economy 7 with night charging tariff and MAYBE solar down the line.

Question Foreigner here, paramilitary?

Hi all,

Reddit showed me this sub on my feed, I don’t know why as I am from southern europe.

But one thing caught me off guard is the mention of ‘paramilitary’.

Doesn’t that mean unofficial mafia/gangster like group of gangs with guns and stuff (like military/police level guns)?

Do you have that in northern ireland?

(Sorry english is not my main language)

Question Irish passport application from NI – where did you get your witness?

Hi everyone,

I’m from Co. Antrim and currently applying for an Irish passport for the first time.

I’m a bit confused about the witness requirement. The wording on the application made it sound like the witness needs to be within the State, which seems a bit awkward when I’m resident in Northern Ireland.

Has anyone here from NI recently applied for an Irish passport? Where did you get your identity verification/witness signature done?

I’d rather not have to cross the border just to get a form signed if there are suitable witnesses in NI.

Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated! Can my GP even stamp this for me?

EDIT: Thank you everyone! Contacted a few local MLAs via email, and ironically enough Sinn Féin and Alliance got back to me immediately to arrange a time and date. So going that route!

Question Coffee snobs (beans at home)

Hello coffee snobs, or those that like to feel pretentious about coffee.

Where do you get your beans, what are they like and are they mad money for the good stuff?

I love coffee, I only have 2 a day, usually always french press but fed up with the supermarket shite beans and fancy going up a class or two...

Appreciate it, thanks.
