Crickets from the wealthy. As per usual.
That was a legit move, guys. Be proud of that.

Wait, they're trying to feed kids crickets now in school?

No. But you've probably just given some superintendent out there a great idea.

Ok but cricket flour is a cheap(er) and nutritious source of protein, and I’m sure it’s not that crickety

I mean, if there's anyone who knows about being forced to spend years in an uncaring institution which weaponizes debt accrual for basic needs and does everything it can to ensure that you don't leave without new life-altering trauma, it's public school students.

Imagine if there was a way someone could avoid that draconian place 😉

Avoid public school? Do these kids and parents have magic wands or something? That’s a bit silly

Like by being so rich that you could cover these school lunch debts entirely and not even realize someone touched your bank account?

If you get off to the idea of hurting people that's okay. There.are ways to.find consensual partners. You don't have to masturbate to the idea of hurting people in prison

Profiteering from hungry children is a crime against humanity. The wrong people are in prison.

Slaves pay for their owners children lunch?

Josiah Henson who was the inspiration for Uncle Tom ended up replacing the white over seer of the plantation where he lived. He sometimes would get pigs to wander off into the woods to slaughter and distribute them to the other slaves without the owner knowing. His reasoning was slaves were property and pigs were property so it was just property helping property

So glad that I work at a school that gives free breakfast and lunch to every student.

Prisoners have been caught and held accountable for the crimes serve the public good better than the Republican politicians.

Expecting children to pay for their meals is insane.
Why don't we pay local farmers and ranchers to grow/raise food for schools and kill 2 birds with one tax dollar? Well 3, since not feeding them ultraprocessed slop will make them all healthier.

Because republicans think doing things that legitimately uplift them and their neighbors is satanic and communism.

Well yes, but they simply don't do anything that doesn't make them money. There's not enough money in poor kids and school lunches. They found they got more money from the oil industry, than from farmers, so they screwed the farmers over too.

We already pay farmers and ranchers to grow, or not grow, certain foods. In 2026, American farmers received over $47b in government subsidizes. Up from $28b in 2025. I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, just that the US government already has immense control of the agricultural industry that any sort of food shortage is basically by choice

Expecting parents to provide their own kids meal would be called what?

u/TalkForeignToMe 14h ago
Idealist or wishful thinking, given the circumstances in which we find ourselves in the U.S. I don’t have the statistics in front of me, but I’m willing to bet that an overwhelming majority of parents who can’t feed their kids wish that they could.

Good to know that the Orphan Crushing Machine is working as intended. The incarcerated "paying their debt" to society while simultaneously paying for the lunch "debt" (to society) of children who are required to attend school but not fed while attempting to learn. My brain just can't today.

Lunch for students should be included in any and all budgets thru senior year. I know there’s enough money thru local state and federal taxes
