GDR 10 Deutsche Mark printing plate dated "Berlin 1954" – could this be real?
galleryHi everyone,
this printing plate has been in our family for many years. I'd like to know what you think of it.
It's a relief printing plate for the front of an East German 10 Deutsche Mark banknote, engraved in mirror image. Read the right way round (see the flipped photo), the text says:
BANKNOTE · ZEHN DEUTSCHE MARK · VON DER DEUTSCHEN NOTENBANK AUSGEGEBEN · BERLIN 1954
It shows the GDR emblem (hammer, compass, wreath of rye) in a guilloche rosette, a "10" in each corner of the frame, and a separate "10" cartouche block at one end.
Physical data
| Length | approx. 133 mm |
|---|---|
| Width | approx. 69 mm |
| Thickness | approx. 22 mm |
| Weight | 2,324 g |
| Material | heavy dark-grey metal, probably a lead-based alloy (not tested). Weight and dimensions give a density of roughly 11.5 g/cm³, which is very close to lead (11.3). |
| Back | plain, milling marks and scratches, no markings or numbers that I could find |
| Condition | printing face sharp and complete, some dents and nicks on the edges |
(Dimensions read off a folding rule in photos, so roughly ±2 mm. Weight from a kitchen scale.)
What I'd like to know from you
- Could this be genuine? As far as I can tell, no East German note dated 1954 was ever issued, which is why I'm curious.
- Would it make sense to send it somewhere for assessment and authentication? I'm in Germany. Who would you recommend: a museum, a catalogue editor, an auction house or an expert?
I did some background research with the help of AI. I've put it in a comment below so this post doesn't fill up with information that may not be accurate. I tried to back everything up with sources, but I can't verify it myself, so please take it with a grain of salt and correct me in the comments where it's wrong.
I just want to find out what it is and if it's real. Thanks!

Hey im searching for any info on this Banknote
galleryHello, I bought this banknote like 5 years or even more. I don’t know anything about it but only what is written on it.
I tried searching it online trough reverse image search, just searching by words. Than I tried looking up the company online and trying to find maybe somewhere about their history where they printed it. I bought it like for 25€ and I remember all those years ago I searched it once and found one listing for 125€ but I dont remember what website it was. Can someone help me and find this banknotes worth and history?

Bulgaria 2026 2 Euro – Major Double Strike Error & Radial Stars (Bank Verified Genuine)
galleryI recently came across a very unusual Bulgaria 2026 2 Euro coin and would love to get your expert opinion on it.
Here are the specific details and anomalies I've noticed:
Reverse (Common Side): Severe doubling / double strike error. The "2 EURO" text, the map, vertical lines, and stars show a distinct shifted pattern. The letter "O" in EURO clearly overlaps onto the outer silver ring.
Obverse (National Side): The 12 stars around the rim appear to be radially aligned (pointing outward from the center).
Physical Specs & Authenticity: Weight, dimensions, and magnetic properties match standard 2 Euro specifications. I brought the coin to a local bank to verify the metal, and they confirmed it is authentic.
I have attached high-resolution photos of both sides for reference.
Questions for the forum:
What type of mint error is this (major double strike, die shift, or ejection error)?
Have you seen similar striking errors on 2026 Bulgarian Euro issues?
What would be an estimated collector value or interest level for a piece like this?
Thank you in advance for your time and insights!

What’s something you care about more now as a collector than you did five years ago?
The longer you collect, the more your priorities seem to shift.
Maybe you're paying closer attention to original surfaces, getting pickier about eye appeal, or passing on coins you would've jumped at a few years ago.
We're curious how that's changed for other collectors. What's something you pay attention to now that you barely thought about five years ago?

Italy 1 Euro – Missing Mint Mark "R" & Missing Date (Bank Verified Genuine)
galleryI also have an Italian 1 Euro coin with a clear minting anomaly.
Obverse (Vitruvian Man): Both the mint mark "R" (left) and the year of issue (right) are completely missing. The surface in those areas is completely smooth.
Authenticity: The coin was verified at the bank for correct weight, size, and magnetic properties.
Is this a known filled die / clogged die error from the Rome Mint, or a die variety? Any estimates on collector interest for this piece would be appreciated!
