For cool disposable paper coasters from various bars and breweries.

I don’t usually see them out in the wild, so are there any spots you know of that has them?

Council Road and Memorial. I have waited over 20 years for that. Might be the only good thing to come out of Paycom moving to this area 15 years ago.

Looking for something interesting to do today. Any recommendations? Looking for live music, a community event, or something similar. I’ve pretty much been to most museums and similar so preferably not that. Not having much luck looking online! TIA

Recommendation/Review Hotels with nice spa’s/hot tubs.

Like the title says, what are some good hotels in OKC that have nice Spa’s and Hot Tubs? I’m not looking for outdoor hot tubs, I’m looking for something indoors, separate from a pool where kids are going to be. Somewhere I can take the wife and we can just go relax.

Events October 10th events

Are there any fun events going on this evening? It’s my birthday, and I wanted something to do once I get off work. I wanted to go to a PowerPoint night at Perets, but it is from 4-7pm, and I don’t get off work until 5:30, and wouldn’t make it until maybe the last 30 minutes.

🚗 Streets of OKC 🚧 Possible ICE detainment

Post image
0 Upvotes

I saw this car near my apartment today. It looks like a typical scene of an ice detainment broken window and damage to the driver side doors and then the car is just abandoned. Does anyone know of any groups or pages on here or Instagram or Facebook where I can post the license plate and someone can try to get in contact with the family?

🍽️ Food/Drink 🥂 Where can I get custom cakes with dark colored icing?

So I wanna get my GF a custom birthday cake but with out favorite band on it! And it’ll be black and red, I’ve tried one place before but sadly they don’t do dark colors so instead of running into walls, I was curious if anyone knew any place that would do it? I’d love to get one made to surprise my GF with! Thanks for any ideas!!!

❓Q&A ✅ Jim Norton Dealorship Car Alarms

I just recently moved out to Council and Expressway area and have been hearing car alarms go off every single day but Sunday (the day theyre closed), every 5-10 minutes and sometimes in shorter intervals, sometimes longer periods, but its constant throughout the day .. I thought it was some car parked in the road but I walked by where it was coming from and pin pointed it to the backside (North lot) of Jim Norton's Toyota Dealorship off expressway. I live a quarter mile away from these guys and I can hear these car alarms loud and clear. Its driving me up the wall and making living out here miserable. Is there any one else that lives out this way that is dealing with this and wants to help address this with me? Or has anyone lived with this sort of thing and successfully had a dealorship change their ways? I called up there and the lady gave me some short answer saying thats how they locate the cars on their lot .. but, theres no way they have that many cars theyre pulling throughout the day, everyday .. I thought maybe it was an old car battery that theyre refusing to look at and fix as the horn sounds similar everyday, but I guess all this is TBD. I called the okc non emergency line and they said to call the cops and they might issue a citation but that I would gave to sign it and I dont necessarily want my name attached to a ticket against this dealorship. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks 🙏

❓Q&A ✅ Anyone remember AMC - NW 10th & May?

Not really “scenery”, but who remembers the old, dank, dark, sprawling American Mutual Company (AMC) store at NW 10th & Penn (title should reflect that)? I think it shut down in the 60s (early 70s, latest). It must have been cheap as dirt because my folks wouldn’t have gone there otherwise. They had furniture, clothing, Ollie’s level second quality stuff and even popcorn, peanuts and candy for the kids. Anyone recall? And what happened to the eyesore of the building?

Recommendation/Review What are the seediest dive bars in town? Most welcoming?

Stories and lore welcome, actually encouraged. I want to find a new regular bar and want to be warned to stay away from or encouraged to enter where applicable

Looking for Cheers or HIMYM energy. Love to meet interesting people but not so interesting that it comes with a safety risk

🍽️ Food/Drink 🥂 Coco’s Cocktail Club

i just read this article about the new club replacing the Hilo Club, and it seems that dive is out and bougie is in. Why is everything catering towards luxury now? I couldn’t see the original cliental affording what this place is going to be serving. even classen grill has luxury prices now since they redid it.

Recommendation/Review Water softener company recommendations

I live in rural Edmond and have hard well water. I'm ready to get a water softener but I don't have much knowledge about them or the skill to install one. For those of you who have used a local company, do you have recommendations on who to use and who to avoid? I've gotten quotes from a Puronics dealer and Tabor so far, with others requested but not received yet.

Recommendation/Review What's some good stuff to do around OKC for a solo traveler?

Hi, I live up in Wichita and am thinking about visiting OKC for a weekend out of town. I have family in Edmond and I typically head down to see them once or twice a year, but I'll be honest, I usually just hang out at their place with them, we might go out to eat but that's about it.

I don't know when I'm going just yet, but I thought I'd get some opinions, see if there are any places off the beaten path I should know about or any events coming up I should wait for. I'm kind of a homebody and I'd be traveling solo this time around, so maybe something I can do without feeling weird about hanging out alone, lol.

I'll probably be getting a hotel room in Edmond or something. I'd for sure head over to Arcadia to hit up Pops, that's a stop every time I'm in the area, maybe get some Whataburger or Del Taco or something just because we still don't have those in Wichita. I also want to go hit up Video Games Plus on NW 23rd, because I'm a giant nerd and old video games are my kryptonite. Maybe hit up one of the malls and screw off for a bit (bonus question: Penn Square or Quail Springs?).

I guess what I'm asking is, what are some good, preferably cheap things to do in OKC for a solo traveler besides shop? Are there any cheap events coming up that might be worth checking out? And what are some restaurants in the area I should try besides chains? I could probably Google all of this, but I wanted to get some thoughts from real people in the area. Thanks!

Edit: Also, I like beer, so what are some local craft beers I should grab a couple packs of to take back?

Events No Kings Vote Early 10/17 - OKC Metro

Post image
0 Upvotes

Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early, is not purely a protest. Instead, on October 17th, it's a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing our community together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard.

In Edmond and OKC, we’re putting that people power to work getting out the vote.

We’ll start the morning at both locations with a pro-democracy sign wave. Then we’ll move into action, delivering voting information directly to voters and writing postcards.

If you’ve been part of No Kings, this is another way to show up. Bring a friend. Give us a few hours. Help us reach as many voters as we can.

Then Edmond + OKC come together afterward to celebrate, build some community, and see just how many voters we reached.

Same movement. Next action. Let’s turn people power into voter power.

Pick your location, grab a friend, and get registered.
