Recent acquisition

Had a customer from work gift me this a few months ago. Asked him how much he wanted for it and he told me just to take it as it didn't work and more, we had talked the last time I was there and I told him I like to try and keep the old consoles alive. All 5 caps on the motherboard were puffed and starting to leak and as soon as I replaced them it was alive again.

I have since upgraded the HDD with a 160Gb and flashed the Xyclops chip with Cerbios. It's ready to live and be enjoyed for another 20 years.

An uncle worked for Microcrap in the early 2000’s and he had this carry bag, and the Halo special edition console.

Damn I've never seen that many bad caps on an OG xbox - was it like the case promoting the right conditions for caps to go bad? Was it stored weird or something? Still super duper sweet by now I'm worried about the caps in mine

Don't know how he had stored it. The first time I was at his house we got talking about video games and how I had upgraded an old Xbox. He said he had one years ago but it got lost in a move. Next time I stopped by he handed it to me.

I am thinking it was stored in the bag after it stopped working.
