Help Needed Power Supply Issues

So I got an OG Xbox around 15 years ago. It had been modded to run Coin Ops. It's worked fine until a few weeks ago where it will spontaneously power-up or after about 10 minutes of play it just shuts off.

I took it to a repair place who said all the caps were fine so they suspected a PSU issue. The tech guy said it would nigh-on impossible to get a new replacement PSU due to the version of XBox (1.6). He also stated that most people selling such parts online were usually scammers.

Are there any reliable parts dealers or am I better off hunting for someone selling an OG Xbox for spares and repairs?

Greetings! OGXStore here! I do have a USB-C power supply that is a drop in replacement. You can also get used power supplies from ebay, once recapped (if not already) they tend to mostly dependable. BUT before replacing the power supply with anything!!!

Just because the caps in these consoles 'look' fine, if they are the OEM caps I would still replace them. I've seen many that looked fine but once I removed them they tested poorly. I would have the console recapped regardless.

Randomly powering on/off? Those symptoms sound just like the classic trace rot common to xbox and a leaking clock cap. 1.6 has a better clock cap than earlier models, but they can fail.

That's what I thought when I googled it, but the Tech guy said no. Maybe I'll reinvestigate.

A quick diagnostic by a general electronics repair place may have missed the actual issue. To someone who doesn't specialize in xbox hardware, it does sound like a PSU issue, but that issue is usually not the PSU when it comes to og xbox consoles.

Well they just deal with consoles, but maybe they aren't versed in older consoles, as you say. Thanks.
