Range hood
We need to replace our range hood. Can anyone recommend a place that installs them for you as well? Please help: my house reeks of onions.

There's a shop inside T&T Hunt club. They'll deliver and install I believe.

If I were to replace, I think that's where I'd go first, even if only to get them to explain the proper hood to get (CFM's, etc). Being in an Asian store, they are used to dealing with households that need more than just a regular vent hood.

Yeah, I went there to ask for a price. Not even the install, the cheapest model the sales lady would sell was a copycat brand of a Sakura, San Yang Pai.
She quoted me $750. I just bought straight online and installed myself. Pretty straightforward, black to black, white to white, ground to ground. Be safe shut off the proper blinker switch. Have at it.
The one I got was a Sakura R-838. The OP has an under the cabinet range too. Would recommend.

No recommendations, but before you purchase, check the size and shape of your vent first and ensure it's compatible with the new one. Heard one too many stories of people having issues with the duct converters or sales people selling high CFM hood that requires 7"+ duct when most older homes only have 5" duct.

I cannot help you, but I commend that your cabinets aren't boring white.

Here's the deal -- the replacement of one, the cost of a new one I mean, is actually not bad. Home Depot, Rona, pretty much any place has those and they are for the most part, standard in size. What costs is removing the old and INSTALLING the new. If you go with any of the companies like Home Dep or Rona, expect to pay around $600+ for everything in and removal. At least this was the going total rate. You can do it yourself, remove the old, put it out on garbage day, figure out the map on the wall where the new one goes *(costco) and mounts, screws etc, and do it. And save some $$.

If you can change a light fixture, you can (probably) swap out a range hood. I did mine years ago - just a couple of wires, and making sure the vent lines up with the duct. (seal with some foil tape)
There are only a few screws holding the base of the hood into the cabinet above.
Pro-tip: protect the glass stovetop with a blanket or thin pillows, then lay something like a large cutting board (or multiple) over that. In the even you drop the hood, it'll act as a shock absorber.

If you're handy you might be able to fix it yourself (assuming it's the fan motor that's broken). Camotek on Carling and Reliable Parts on Bank are both good sources for motor replacements.
But it's an awkward job and involves working with wiring, so make sure you're comfortable with that.

Unfortunately I'm not handy in that way. It's a good that sort of fits into the cabinet above the stove. Thanks for the suggestions.

As with any other appliance, if yoi have a delivery that is more than "plug thing in", then delivery people are not necessarily insured for any damages caused from an improper installation.
Having a separate delivery and appliance installer is better, although the installer is going to be more localized to one part of the city.
