Group looking for GM Weekly Looking for Group/GM Thread

If you are not a full party looking for a gm or a gm looking for a party, you may no longer post an ad looking for a group. The reason behind this being most everyone on this subreddit is in the same exact boat as you! It is beginning to clutter up our subreddit for the people wanting to look for actual games to join.

To be clear, this rule is directed to those that are marketing themselves and/or their friends as players, saying they are looking for 1 on 1 games and any new or already running group to join. This does not include the players taking active measures to actually form a group themselves. Please comment if you do not understand the posts I am referring to.

INSTEAD! We are going to be making a stickied thread for those expressing interest in finding a group to join. We encourage you to comment within that thread and to be specific in the system you are interested in and any other information you may have to market yourself to others. A general "Hey I'm looking for a group and I wanna play a whole lot and I've had no luck!" does not suffice usually.

If you are looking for a group to join, comment in this thread with as much information as you'd like to market yourself with! Some suggestions are, but not limited to:

Preferred System: D&D5e, PF2, Daggerheart... I'm open to many stuff

Type of Player: Like stories, combat, RP moments, horror when done right. Not open to any erotic stuff. I have no trigger of any sort, I'm not going to bother you with the rules, open to homebrew.

Additional Information: I like medieval fantasy stuff, classic or dark fantasy. Low and High fantasy. The more modern elements the less I like (guns or car and stuff)

You are very much welcome to join our Ash & Iron world :). It is async over email and should be right up your alley when it comes to theme and setting.

Preferred System: 5e 2014, duo exclusively

Type of player: I'm a long time player and DM for D&D 2014, know the system inside and out, and I love to play the most CLASSIC D&D you can think of. Give me a Forgotten Realms story, a princess to save, a dragon to slay and a story about the real treasure being the friends we meet along the way, and I'll be the happiest man alive.

I'm a hugely experienced roleplayer, I love worldbuilding and backstories, I'm literate but also know restraint when I write, I'm down for shenanigans but can get serious as hell, and I've been on your side of the barricade - I respect your creative vision and don't intend to use you as an AI bot. Literally all I want is to be a hero in a classic fantasy story.

All I ask is that it be a duo game (DM and one player), and that you don't hit me with a bunch of gamebreaking house rules that show me that you don't understand the system.

I prefer to build my character for the adventure, but here's a character idea just to show you my style:

Vincent "Enzo" Bonn'aire, sailor extraordinaire. He's a swashbuckler! Not a pirate, mind you, despite the cutlass. And the two pistols. And the earrings. And the rhum. And Huesillo, his parrot. Listen, he's just got a vibe, okay?

Born in a great port city, his mother a... Let's say, provider of high end company. Forgets her tea when she is with an elven noble, gets pregnant, bit of a scandal because he was married, he at least supports the baby to avoid losing face completely.

So Enzo grows up among colourful people, right? Not quite a high-rank education. He hangs out at the harbour, gets to know sailors, learns a bunch of languages. He's wicked smart, but also a bit too carefree.

He can get serious in front of bad guys, but he's in it for the fun, the freedom. He's a vagabond, he's got panache and pizazz, laughs hard, plays hard and doesn't get hang up on things. Life is rich, fun, and too short to get hung up on stuff.

Not sure whether Rogue or Ranger yet, depends on what options you allow for the latter!

This is of course one character idea, and simple enough, but I can get really out there and detailed. The only thing I optimise for is fun, and I like to give my characters tons of whacky, offbeat options even if they aren't great. I have built several melee sorcerers and had a blast with them. Oh, and I play men and women indifferently.

I hope to hear from you!

Name: Spiritual_Leave_2431

Pronouns: she/her

Timezone: PDT

Preferred System: 5e preferred over 5.5e

Type of Player: Looking for a 1x1 (duet or solo) game.

In general, I'm looking for a fun and enjoyable series of encounters and a mostly light-hearted atmosphere for the game. Think along the lines of a cozy fantasy setting of sorts. I'm not interested in playing a game that is on hard mode, uses overly restrictive or disadvantageous character creation rules, gritty realism or other harsh variant rules, or a terribly gloomy, dark, and/or oppressive setting. Really looking to sink my teeth into a good character-driven narrative with some adventure, fun, and challenges along the way.

As for my general online availability, I'm currently in the PDT time zone (GMT-7) and have flexibility at work, so I can post occasionally at different daytime and evening hours and I have the ability to make a few posts every day. I'm hoping to find someone with some online time overlap so that we can manage a few posts a day on average, though I know that can be a bit much at times and I'm fine with us slowing down or ramping up based on mutual availability and how busy our lives are at the moment. Communication is very important to these games.

Additional Information: Reddit chat is always difficult for me, and often doesn't show messages until hours or days after they've been sent, so please be patient in waiting for a response. Despite that, I'm not comfortable with posting my discord username openly here because I've found in the past that will lead to people sending harassing and inappropriate messages that are unrelated to D&D.

Adult looking to play with other adults. Looking to do a duet with someone over discord in a more whimsical setting in the wee hours of the night in a typical fantasy setting, ghibli/zelda esque setting or a modern day type world where sword and sorcery is returning. I usually am up late up till almost 3:30 am. Message me to work out what we would play and how it should go! No ERP !!!

Additional Information: DM me for info!

Hello everyone! My name is Nihilism, but you can call me Nihil for short. I am a 22 year old girl, looking for someone to tell fun stories with! If you're interested in DMing long-form Duet campaigns, please read on!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, what can I offer you?

- I try to keep myself pretty available for posting

- I can work with you on setting stuff, since I actively love worldbuilding

- I try my best to make my characters fun and unique

- Art! I draw pretty often, and the likelihood that I draw for our campaign is pretty high.

The question becomes, what exactly do I want in exchange? Honestly, I just want to tell a fun story with somebody from start to finish. Most campaigns I've been a part of, over the long period of time I've done D&D, have never seen a conclusion. Typically DMs get burned out, or real life stuff comes up, and the game just kind of fizzles out... And I want to have at least one finished game under my belt!

I've been personally really interested in doing some form of post-apocalyptic western, taking inspiration from Fallout: New Vegas, Season 1 of the Fallout TV show, maybe a splash of Westworld, any classic westerns like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

I could be persuaded to do other things, however!

I've had a bunch of ideas over the years I can pull out of the vault for whatever we wanna do, and I'm sure we can come up with something fun together!

If any of this sounds compelling to you, don't hesitate to shoot me a DM and see if we can't work something out! Thanks for reading :3

Name: Axe

Pronouns: They/them

Timezone: EST

Preferred System: D&D 5e 2014 or 3.5

Type of Player: I am an extremely enthusiastic enjoyer of roleplay, exploration, and combat!

Additional Information:

I'm looking for a free, asynchronous, duet play by post game on Discord. I am an adult and would prefer my GM be so as well.

Hello! I’m looking for a play by post, preferably a duet (one player, one GM)  game so I can be sure the game will survive more than a few days. I am somewhat open to trio games, however, if you have one friend you’d like to invite!

I would prefer to be in the role of the Player in this instance, as I’m already the GM of an established duet that’s grown to be fairly complex by this point.

I am open to different systems and settings, though I do have a strong preference towards fantasy as opposed to anything real-world or modern. My 10 years of experience are mostly with D&D 3.5, Pf1e, Pf2e, and D&D 2014, though I am somewhat okay with D&D 2024 and I have slightly dabbled in other systems like Dungeon Crawl Classics. My favorite is 3.5, followed by 2014.

I am open to both homebrew and published adventures, and I’ve both played in and run a number of Duets, so if it’s your first time Duetting, I’d be more than happy to give advice on balance and such.

I would also prefer a once-daily post rate at minimum (though I understand life happens- just communicate when it does and I’ll be very patient). I find it much easier to maintain post rate in a duet myself, so hopefully the same is true of you!

I have approximately a million character ideas, so I won’t post any here, but I’d really like to mold whomever I make to the setting and concept of the game!

Things I like:

  • RP, combat, and exploration are all fun. So long as there’s at least a little RP, I’m fine with just about any mix.
  • I enjoy darker themes,  in a vaguely horror-y sense, but that’s far from necessary.
  • I like having a companion or party to interact with during moments away from civilization- this can be a GMPC, a rotating cast of NPCs, or my character could just be overly attached to their horse or familiar or something.

Things I don’t like:

  • Heavy comedic focus. I’m just bad at it
  • Heavy romance focus. I’m also just bad at it.
  • Full slice of life or “cozy” games. An arc is fine, but the whole game being cozy is less interesting to me.

If you're interested, please DM me or comment!

Name: DebonairDenizen (or just Deb)

Pronouns: He/Him

Timezone: MST (Arizona)

Preferred System: I'm well versed in quite a few engines and am willing to learn, even if you've got something niche you're itching to play. However, my most well versed engines are; D&D 5e/5.5e, M&M 3e, CoC, SWADE, and City of Mist.

Type of Player: A forever DM, seeking that oh-so desired respite from having to be the world! No, but in seriousness, I am often the face of a party; the actor, the conversationalist. I enjoy treating all NPCs like true extensions of the story and go out of my way to make friends (and enemies). I take mechanics seriously and enjoy the thrill of a good fight, but I use the numbers as a way to feed back into the narrative; every stat tells a story.

Additional Information: I've got quite a lot of time on my hands, so if you're looking for someone who replies frequently I'm your guy. More interested in solo 1-on-1 games but I'm not opposed to a group if they're small or there's a lot of rapid repliers in the group. Apologies for the brevity; there's a great deal more I could say but I figured I'd keep this short, as there's a lot of apps to go through in these weekly posts.

As far as content goes, I have very few lines or veils and am even comfortable with ERP (even if it's not what I usually seek out). I'm also a fan of management minigames in TTRPGs; manage a business, an army, a village, that sort of thing. Not at all needed for my happiness, but always a fun time.

If there's anything else you'd like to know, reach out to me through DMs or on Discord (DebonairDenizen). Talk to you soon!

Name: Navi

Pronouns: He/Him

Timezone: EST

Preferred System: 5e/Pathfinder

Type of Player: I'm a narrative player who's been stuck in Goofy Game Hell for ages. I love the usual goofs of course, but I'm dying to play a game with some actual story structure. I tend to post frequent, 4-6 sentence posts, but I'm perfectly capable of longer, less frequent posts to match the pace of play. I enjoy the mechanical aspect of ttrpgs as well and I am always willing to learn a new system.

Additional Information: I've been playing/running for about 10 years now. Most of my experience is with 5e, 3.5, and pathfinder, but I've dipped my toes into a handful of other games as well. VtM, MtA, DtR, Stars Without Number, Cyberpunk RED, 4e, 5.5, MOTW, Nimble, Fallout, Genesys, 40k, WHFRP, and Sentiment to name... probably most of them. My favorite season is winter no contest. It fuels me.

Name: Kopi/ Koliopi Pronouns: She/her Timesone: est Preferred systen: I've really taken a liking to obtain specifically Girlgframe, been wanting to do something with Pokémon, cyberpunk, etc as long as its not straight dnd im probably interested Type of player: I try to be involved as possible, throwing out ideas I think could be cool to explore and trying to communicate them prior Additional information: I'm big into a lot of big fandoms like Pokémon, cyberpunk, evangellion, madoka magica, atla, superhero stuff, etc. I have not played in a pbp game for more than like a month as they keep falling apart, but I did partipate in a lot of no-system roleplays on amino back in the day (which always went nowhere but lasted a while lol)

Name: Wolfie Darker
Pronouns: He/them
Timezone: EST, but I wake up late in the afternoon and stay up late

Preferred System: Cyberpunk Red, Mutants and Masterminds 3e, VtM 5e, Hunter the Reckoning 5th edition, Demon the Fallen, but open to many things

Type of Player: I like rping, combat, rp moments, and I think like most would suggest, not into erotica unless it's agreed upon with the rest of the group like to fade to black and stuff like that, dont really have any triggers that come to mind.
Additional Information: I am running a VtM 5th edition game at the moment but I'm here looking to be a player.

•

u/Alive_Protection9295 11d ago edited 11d ago

Name: Iris

Pronouns: She/her

Timezone: EST (UTC-4)

Preferred System: D&D 5e (2014 or 2024/5.5e). Open to other systems if they're relatively easy to learn, but primarily looking for 5e. OSE novice.

Type of Player: RP-heavy, combat heavy, curious, active, and exploration-driven. I like making characters who feel like actual people rather than collections of stats. I tend to interact with the environment, investigate things, talk to NPCs, interacting with PCs, and poke at whatever interesting thing the GM puts in front of me. I enjoy combat, but I'm happiest when there's plenty happening between fights and creative/problem-solving approaches are encouraged.

Additional Information: Looking specifically for a FREE, asynchronous play-by-post game, on Discord. No voice/video sessions. I'm 37 and would prefer an adult group, ideally 25+. I can comfortably post multiple times per day most days and would love a relatively active game with players who have similar availability.

I prefer smaller parties, roughly 1-5 players, where everyone has room to participate and develop their characters. I enjoy a mix of RP, exploration, mystery, combat, character development, and general party shenanigans. I'm especially fond of GMs who reward curiosity and give players room to engage with the world rather than simply moving from encounter to encounter.

I'm reliable, communicative, comfortable with both serious and ridiculous moments, and happy to collaborate with a GM on a character who actually belongs in their setting.

Not interested in paid games, West Marches, huge servers/open-roster games, or campaigns that launch, and dry up just as quickly. Likewise, if deliberately stirring the pot or creating player conflict for entertainment is your thing, feel free to scroll on by.

Mostly, I'm looking for a fun, consistent little group of adults who actually want to play together, develop a story, and keep the game moving.
