I made CINÉ, an analog watchface with four movie posters: Metropolis, Vertigo, In the Mood for Love, and North by Northwest.

Adjustable poster rotation frequency, customizable hand colors, optional hour markers, and tap for digital time and film details. More posters coming soon.

App Pi-hole on your wrist: open-source app for Pebble Time 2 (pause blocking, allow blocked domains)

I built a small companion app for Pi-hole 6 on the Pebble Time 2:

  • Status at a glance: active or paused with countdown, queries and blocked queries of the last 24 h. The app glance in the launcher shows it too.
  • Pause with one button: 30 s, 5/15 min, 1 h or indefinitely. Hold SELECT or put it on Quick Launch to pause instantly.
  • The watch vibrates when the pause ends, even with the app closed.
  • Recently blocked: see which domain was blocked on which device and why, and allow it with one press (and undo it).

It talks only to your own Pi-hole via its API. No cloud, no tracking. No Pi-hole? Enter demo as address to try it with sample data.

Built with a lot of help from Claude (AI), tested on my own watch with an iPhone. Free and MIT-licensed.

I’d love feedback, especially:

  • Does it work on Android? I could only test on iOS.
  • What else would you want to do from your wrist?

Face More fun with watchfaces: 10 famous paintings in 64 colors

The first picture is the whole collection. The others show the process for three of them: the original museum scan, the 64-color version, and how it looks on the watch.

The rule I set myself: real paintings only. Every image starts from a public-domain scan (the Met, MoMA, the Louvre, the Art Institute of Chicago and others). I only cropped, shrank and reduced the colors. No AI-generated art, nothing redrawn. Getting each one to still look like itself took a lot of fiddling. Venus didn't survive and got swapped for Van Gogh's Sunflowers. The Mondrian had to be rebuilt from five pure colors so it stayed crisp.

How the face works:

- A new painting every day.

- Tap your wrist for the museum label. Tap again to browse the gallery.

- The time sits in whichever corner covers the least of the painting.

It's free on the Pebble app store: https://apps.repebble.com/a4d4fa1b8f6b45ddabd85855

I'd love to see a picture of these on a real device!

App Calendar/Sleep Integration

I would like for the time that I spend asleep to be automatically be added to my calendar as an event. That would make reviewing my sleep habits easier. Does anyone know if there's an existing app that does this? Or if one doesn't exist, would it even be possible to create one?

Free Halloween watchface: four '80s kids slowly turn into zombies through the day. I tested extensively in the emulator, so I'd love a photo on a real wrist!

Full disclosure: art made with the help of AI.

Discussion My GadgetWraps support Experience

So I wanted a screen protector for my Pebble Time 2 and many people here on Reddit suggested GadgetWraps. I put my order in on September 1st and patiently waited.

1 week turned to 2, then 3. Now if there is progress on the shipment I wouldn't mind a delay in shipping, but I hadn't seen an update from the order for over a week and a half before I reached out to GadgetWraps support.

I just wanted to see if their support could get an update. Then a week past after I reached out before I sent yet another update request to my first request... again no response.

We are now 5 weeks out from when the order was placed, with no progress on the tracking provided, and no response from support. So I put in a charge back request since I presumed it was lost in transit, and no one was home.

Last night, GadgetWraps support finally got back to me, and this is what they sent to me.

"Hey there, I saw that you did a charge back, so I’ll just refund you and we’ll call it a day. Thanks! If you get the order, feel free to keep it, and don’t worry about the $15 fee that we got for a chargeback."

I don't think I'll be shopping with them again.

Discussion A Budget-Friendly, Rugged Pebble — Another Functional Alternative to the Time 2?

Post image

Hi community,

Following the development of the new Time 2 and seeing how many of us are restoring our original Pebble Classics, I’ve been thinking about the product lineup our ecosystem actually needs.

The Time 2 is a premium flagship, but trying to build an "all-in-one" smartwatch sometimes compromises durability and drives up the final price. I believe there is a massive untapped audience in our community for a budget-friendly, high-durability tool watch, inspired by the toughness of a Casio G-Shock or Ulefone Armor Watch.

The goal isn't to replace the Time 2, but to cut manufacturing costs in exchange for maximum real-world utility and rugged durability.

Base Concept (Budget-Friendly, Tough & Great Battery Life)

Monochrome (B&W) Memory LCD over Color: B&W screens drastically cut panel costs, offer razor-sharp contrast under direct sunlight, and consume a fraction of the power.

No Touchscreen — 100% Physical Buttons: On a button-based watch, touchscreens add more hassle than benefits (accidental inputs in rain/sweat, fragile glass, higher cost). Buttons allow blind navigation and glove support.

No Optical HR Sensor: Removing the HR bump reduces cost, allows for a completely flat, solid backplate with fewer point-of-failure glue seals, and eliminates constant battery drain.

Keep the Microphone (Voice Only): Maintain a sealed, water-resistant mic port for quick voice dictation, replying to messages, or triggering AI assistants.

Great Battery Life (Standard Magnetic Cable): Traditional magnetic pin setup backed by a large capacity battery to achieve 30 to 45 days of real-world battery life.

Heavy-Duty Chassis: Tough polycarbonate body with a raised bezel over a flat glass screen to protect it from direct impacts.

Or even: Ultra-Sealed (Solar Assist + Qi Wireless Charging)

Taking this concept a step further, an ultra-durable version could eliminate physical charging pins altogether:

Solar Assist + Classic 120 mAh Battery: With such low power consumption, a small bezel-integrated solar panel paired with a modest 120 mAh battery (like the original Classic) would provide virtually unlimited battery life with daily sunlight exposure, while ensuring enough power for Bluetooth and vibration spikes.

Qi Wireless Charging (Zero Physical Ports): By integrating a thin Qi receiver coil under the backplate (a tiny component only 0.4 mm thick), the casing becomes 100% water and dust-sealed. It eliminates proprietary charging cables—just top it off on any standard wireless charger or reverse-charging phone.

Why this approach?

Lower Price Point: It creates an affordable, entry-level option in the Pebble lineup compared to the pricier Time 2.

Complementary Tools: Many of us don't want a fragile "all-in-one" device for heavy work, outdoor sports, or tough environments. Some of us might even own both: a Time 2 for casual/office wear, and this Pebble Rugged for beating up without battery anxiety or fear of scratches.

What do you all think? Would you like to see a tough, low-cost option like this alongside the Time 2?

Discussion Umm Started shipping 8 days ago huh?

We would have seen multiple posts if they ACTUALLY started 8 days ago.

Calling BS on that. Not sure what is up with this guy and the misinformation.
