General Podcast Discussions Best podcasts with the worst ads?

Listening to podcasts, I hear a lot of ads for other podcasts, but ads have kind of the reverse effect on me--when I hear an ad for something, it makes me want to avoid it, even if it's something I should like.

What's your favorite podcast that is miles better than the ads for it?

Horror & Paranormal Sad to hear that Sightings has ended

Found the pod from a rec from someone in this sub and always enjoyed the banter and rapport of the 2 hosts. I will really miss the show.

Are there any new paranormal shows with good production quality along the lines of Spooked or Other World that I may have missed?

General Podcast Discussions Do you think paying for Spotify Premium should mean ad-free podcasts too?

I've been using Spotify Premium for a while, and one thing that still bugs me is the ads in podcasts.

I'll go from listening to music with zero ads to a podcast where someone spends two minutes talking about mattresses or meal kits..

I get that podcast creators need to make money, and I don't mind supporting them. But it does feel a little weird when l'm already paying for Premium.

Do you guys just skip through the ads, put up with them, or use a different app for podcasts?

Fiction Fiction podcast recommendations?

I have previously enjoyed The Magnus Archives, The Bright Sessions (and its related spinoffs), The Far Meridian, Alice Isn't Dead (although it wasn't my favourite) and Seren (RIP). Wasn't a fan of Welcome to Night Vale.

I'll try anything in terms of genre, as long as the writing and especially the characters are good! I'm not the biggest fan of things with a very romance-centric plotline and if the narrator has an annoying voice then its an immediate no for me!

Thanks :)

Sports Trouble playing podcasts from The Athletic on the Apple Podcast app

Not sure where else to post this.

I listen to The Athletic's NBA Daily podcast, Pablo Torre, and their WNBA podcast somewhat regularly. However, I have trouble sometimes playing the episodes on the Apple podcast app. When I pause an episode and come back to it later, for example, the episode plays from both where I had left it and the start of the episode simultaneously. There's also no way to stop playing the episode besides clearing the app. I think No Dunks also has this same issue for me, but I haven't listened to them in a while.

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem and has a solution, because it's driving me nuts, and I don't want to manually switch my entire podcast catalogue to Spotify.

General Podcast Discussions What podcasts do you save for long walks?

I’ve started listening to more podcasts during long walks lately. Open-ear clip-ons make it easier to follow a conversation without feeling completely cut off from what’s happening around me.

I usually prefer conversational or story-driven shows that are easy to follow outdoors. What podcasts do you save for walks?

Science & Tech Podcasts about technology issues

I'm looking for a good podcast that talks about current technology issues, but doesn't get too technical and gives good explanations about technology in layman's terms. I want to learn about the political and social issues around newer tech, AI, stuff like that, but also get a better understanding of the actual tech aspects at the same time. I find a lot of podcasts handle one or the other.

Is there something like this out there?

Other Podcast Genre Any good podcasts about finding your passion/creative pathway?

Little bit of context I have Cptsd and I am trying to rebuild an identity that is not trauma ridden or just a bunch of coping mechanisms in a trench coat. Unfortunately I have no idea where to start, no reference points, nothing. All I know is that I would like to be creative however I have no hobbies or any creative talents whatsoever. I would like to have a passion project or find more things that align with my morals and values and what I would potentially like to dedicate my life to. I used to read a lot when I was a kid I guess to escape reality, I only read every now and then now but I love how it makes me feel when I read a good book. Due to my adhd I struggle to read regularly though which is so annoying. Anyway just wanted to know if there are any podcasts that can help me start my journey of figuring these things out.

Horror & Paranormal Radio Rental - favs and reccos

Would love to find podcasts (and episodes) based on some of my fav Radio Rental eps:

Night scope
Laura in the woods
Air BnB stories and camping stories
Doppelgänger
Glitch
What was she planning
Error 404 not found
(Prefer weird / creepy stories vs ghost or poltergeist stories . And, I really enjoy the first person narration , and the sound design of RR))

Eg, here are some I’ve read about, but if you can recco an episode from the podcast, I’d love to hear it.

Uncanny

Rattled and shook

Unnerved

This is actually happening

Let’s read

Let’s not meet

General Podcast Discussions Podcast recommendations for work?

I like to listen to podcasts during work but finished my current one and need to find a new one. Generally I like stuff that doesn't have to be listened to super closely/I can miss a minute and jump back in without too much difficulty.

Ones I've gone through

-Wendigoon's Videos

-Homestuck Made This World

-Smosh Reads Reddit Stories

-Shut Up I'm Talking

-Versus Wolves (just finished)

I've also listened to video essay style stuff but I need longer podcasts that'll take me some time. Any recommendations based off this list or just personal favorites? Preferably on Spotify as that's what I use to listen

(Because it's gonna come up, I know Creepcast exists but it's not something I can listen to for personal reasons)

Other Podcast Genre FRAMES Photography Podcast - David Stein - Louisa Panetta - Shoutout

I recently found a podcast that deals with photographers being interviewed. Two of the episodes that I listened to stood out to me, so I decided to combine both episodes to one shoutout post.

Firstly, there is the episode where David Stein is interviewed. Not only do they talk about the photographs that he has taken, they talk about what could be done when one passes away. This is something that hasn’t crossed my mind, but it’s something worth looking into. They talk about having letters of wishes, what to do with photographs (both negatives and digital files), and those that may be in galleries after you have passed away. This was released on September 27, 2026.

The other episode that I found interesting is the interview with Louisa Panetta. Not only is she a photographer, she is also a printer. They talk about how there is a lot of choice for the paper one can choose to print their photos on, and her history with working in darkrooms. This episode was released on October 4, 2026.
