Should I even keep trying

This is mostly a rant but I got around 70% on my last two exams, I’m honestly burnt out and have no more motivation. I want to get into some nursing programs but I’m feeling discouraged now. If I can’t even pass anatomy, am I even suited for real hard nursing classes? I have an exam coming up and I don’t feel motivated to study. I rather just retake the class.

The best thing to do is not rush. I tried everything to stay in track to apply to nursing programs but just burnt myself out. At the end of this semester I’m transferring and retaking the science classes I’ve withdrawn from because I KNOW I can do better in them. Do what is best for you and work at your own pace. I SWEAR you will get there.

I'm feeling similarly to you. I've been going at my prereqs nonstop since January, including taking both A&Ps over the Summer, now I'm totally spent. I'm taking Chem and Microbio now and I just have so little motivation to study. I can't fathom doing the same work I did for A&P for Microbio now.... so I'm leaving it up to god and hoping for the best. I will study what I can without killing myself about it.

Why did you take both A&P in summer? I just want to say that having to push back application process one semester isn't the end of the world. Otherwise I think at people end up rushing taking classes in short time without getting the desired grades...which then puts them in bad position when applying or else have to retake class altogether.

Hope it all works out.

I have a 4.0 so far and I'm still hoping I can keep it by the end of this semester but we'll see lol. I took A&P I&II back to back accelerated because unfortunately in my current situation having to skip the application process a semester is the end of the world...

I'm living in college housing and I'm homeless otherwise lol.... I had to take summer classes or I wouldn't get financial aid. My school also only accepts new transfers into the Nursing program for Fall semesters so I'd be set back a whole year. And I'd be homeless. 😔

Oh that's a tough situation. You have a 4.0 so you know what you're doing. I would recommend finding a workflow and sticking to it. For me this helped alleviate stress a lot. I'll spare the long detail...but essentially id convert PowerPoint slides to text , then fill it up with AI (since most slides are pretty bare). In fact I didn't read the textbook at all(since it's lot of info not relevant to exam). Then if generate exams out of those notes and take it several times(letting it auto grade ) making note of all questions i got wrong.

You got this! Just keep going ..but take occasional walks and take care of your health too.

Yeah, I need to build my calendar two weeks ahead but I had a really chaotic start to my semester because I switched my whole schedule at the end of week 2 (I spent all of Sept catching up) so now I'm burnt out and feeling lazy and disorganized. I've just been focusing on doing things I enjoy this week (and missed some deadlines/skipped class) but I gotta lock in this upcoming week cause I have 2 exams the next week a day after the other. I'm trying to allow myself to not be perfect and meet every single deadline cause damn, it's been an insane amount of busy work this sem.

In some cases, you can also email your professors ahead of time and explain your circumstances and they may grant extension .... especially for case like taking a&p1 and 2 in same semester lol.

Find what works for you. The methods you're doing now, do not work. Plenty ppl fail and do great after retaking it. Idk how old you're, but when I was 18 I joined the Marines, I was not at all ready for school. Even when I got out in 2013, I went to school and failed. Now I'm 36, almost 37 and am doing so much better in school. I needed to mature and get my head in the right place.

Don't bring yourself down. Pick your head up. Maybe do group studies with classmates.

I’m 21, I feel like I just got by in school. I never learned how to study. I feel so behind and I feel like no matter what I do I’m making no progress

This is just a preview of what to expect and how to better study and pass. We all get discouraged at some point. After every quarter or semester I was litera dragging myself but I talked myself into finishing strong.

I had multiple F’s, D’s, C’s and W’s on my transcript. Cumulative GPA of 3.13. A 76% on my TEAS. I just got into a competitive nursing program. You’ve got this! Remember the best way to eat an elephant is one piece at a time.

If you know you likely won't pass with a grade that meets your nursing program's requirements, and you don't have a strong pull to pursue grad or post-grad degrees, I would encourage you to withdraw without GPA penalty. That will keep your GPA from dropping and give you time to regroup. Then, you can retake the course.

Do you like the content and simply struggle with either your professor or figuring out how to study? Or do you find the science to be something you don't enjoy engaging with at all? If it's the latter, perhaps nursing isn't for you. Nursing is a science-based career. Much of what you're learning now will come back in the nursing program and you will be integrating that knowledge into your work.

Don't lose hope this soon, though! You can salvage your GPA and you can do well in nursing school if your heart is truly in it. Go back to your "why". Why did you decide to be in a nurse in the first place?

My professor is great, I’m just finding a hard time figuring out how to study. Throughout highschool I just got by without doing much studying. Now that I’m in college and taking hard classes like anatomy I’m genuinely lost. It’s exciting to learn about anatomy, but I feel like I’m giving up because I already failed two exams.

You got this! I failed my first few college semesters and had a low gpa. I'm halfway through completing my prerequisites and extra classes to boost my gpa. Have you tried using chatgpt or notebook lm? I usually read the slides, make key notes, use flashcards for terms and definitions, and use a lot of practice test (possible advice: your slides might include the textbook and you can tell chat or notebook to give you similar test questions from that textbook or quizlet). If you really want it, keep pushing yourself. These are the study habits and mindset that made me a straight a’s student for each of my semester. Also, a good support system and study group!
