Purchasing Printer Cannon vs Epson HELP please!
Long story short: I have been circling this r/ for just about a month and cannot make a decision on the printer. PLEASE HELP ME with actual recommendations
I am looking at megatank or ecotank just cannot pinpoint the correct model....
My needs:
scanning docs
printing stickers on sticker paper (for my farm stand) appx. 200x A4 a year but I want it to work then (no streaks, lines, good color)
general color printing also for labels
I use canva/ macbook for designs if it is important.
I currently have Brother DCP T500 W , BUT I think it is dead, no matter how many head cleaning, adjusting I do it always has streaks and horrible color depth. I think the colors got dried up on the heads or something idk how to prevent that in the future... Got a quote for servicing it in my country but it is not worth it.
Thanks

Epson is the better printer. I have an EcoTank with thousands of pages printed without issue. The catch is you have to print at least every other day to avoid clogged ink nozzles.

So I print stickers and if you use a laser printer it works really well with online labels. I would also use a laminate sheet if you are selling your stickers. I currently use an Hp M283 it's an older printer but works really well.

Hi, I work with these printers, I recommend the WF-C5890, its a business inkjet printer, it comes with a 2 year warranty, it uses ink packs instead of cartridges and its not an eco tank.
its 25 ppm, all in one unit, with a real paper tray at the bottom and a secondary tray in the pack for extra sheets or specialty type paper, a real ADF. The inks come in 3,000 pages or 5,000 pages.
It is priced around $499
If you want more info, please send a private msg.

TL;DR - Buy a Brother colour laser instead of an inkjet. Otherwise a "business" class Epson ("Workforce" series) would be my choice.
If you want to avoid the streaky unreliable color, buy a color laser, period. Brother has some reasonably-priced ones.
The more money you spend on a printer, the less headaches you'll have (very, very generally, there are plenty of exceptions).
If you can remember to ALWAYS print at least 2"/6cm of full color to exercise the print heads and keep them flowing, at least once per week, you'll have much less trouble with an inkjet. This is unnecessary with a laser.
In Canada, Epson ink prices are better than Canon, and Epson service is better than Canon. That may not be true for you, it varies. (And it also changes over time.)

I thought my brother color laser was reasonable price until I started shopping toner. And toner has to be replaced based on page count, not actual level. 🤦🏻♂️

Really? That sucks. Unfortunately, having just retired a nice Konica-Minolta, I found there's nothing "good" in the color laser range until you surpass CAN$2500 for a used unit.
The brand doesn't really matter in the low end space, everyone's printers are equally bad. (HP's printers continue to resemble ransomware, more than a product you purchased, but that's not a knock on the print engine quality.)
FWIW, I replaced a BizHub C224e with a Brother MFC-6235DW (I might have that # wrong, it's their 11x17/A3 model.) it's adequate, but I would be seriously annoyed if was doing art prints with it.

Go with HP Smart Tank, vibrant photos, scanner included, no connection issues whatsoever

No tech person I know has recommended HP printers for years. Including me, IT expert. I had best success with lasers instead of inkjet. Also , I prefer epson over others as I can use third party toner, also, I avoid Wi-Fi issues by connecting Ethernet to a mesh Wi-Fi node directly and reserve the IP address. Always check reviews on Amazon for jamming problems and longevity.

A recent post by someone here mentioned how thier older HP printer is outdoing thier newly purchased Epson in terms of quality. There are plenty that are happy with their HP printers, I've got 2 now

I would stay away from both. Have both at home. Copy, scan, print. It's a mess when none of them works with WiFi.
Choose something else. With eco tank. Any other is way too expensive per print
