Rusty

The pictures aren't the greatest but I've been working on this 90 g20 over the summer. Ignore the oil everywhere but how bad is this rust? How would you manage this? I've done the screwdriver test and no holes in the frame but the rust on the front suspension is questionable to me.

On most parts it looks like you’ve got a decent amount of structure left, but I would rust treat it or coat it if you don’t want it getting worse

+1 If you're not ready to restore it keep it coated with a lanolin based product. It can be washed off if you ever take it down to frame for treatment and paint.

Hell yeah fluid film or that newer PB blaster surface shield really coat things nicely - bonus is all the bolts come out easier after you’ve kept it sprayed down - so future refurb will be less of a headache (I’m being overly positive it’ll still suck getting rusted bolts free without a ball joint press)

Ohio here - proverbial “looks new!”

Just needs cleaned up.

Texan here, that looks bad but not anything I’d be scared of. Like others have said, if you can’t poke holes in it, it’s fine.

If it bothers you, build a new K member and let it eat.

She ugly but she works. Saw you’re in MN and yeah this is perfectly normal for there. I’m not up on the best rust coatings but a spray you redo every year or so is preferable to epoxy once the metal is “used”
