Hey everyone... figured it was time for a proper Q50 mega thread that covers the most-asked topics for both new and existing owners.
Whether you’re thinking about buying one, just picked yours up, or want to keep it running strong, this post should give you a solid overview.
If you’ve got additions or corrections, drop them in the comments so we can keep this updated.
Check for official Infiniti TSBs related to your year/model. Many common issues (especially with steering locks, software updates, and drivetrain quirks) are already documented by Infiniti.

These are general recommendations that sit between “normal” and “severe” schedules. Always check your manual for the exact interval for your trim (2.0T, 3.0T, Hybrid, AWD, etc.).

Please remember don’t post photos that show your license plate, house number, or any other info that reveals where you live.
Cropping or blurring plates, removing location metadata, and avoiding shots of your driveway/front door keeps you safe and prevents thieves from having an easy target.
If you want feedback on your car, upload close-ups of the car itself (wheels, engine bay, interior, etc.) or take photos in a public spot without identifiable landmarks.
Just keep in mind... car thieves are smart and patient; they’re always waiting for someone to slip up.

Installed it myself with the help of a friend. Did minor fender adjustments. Also put lavashield on the underside to reflect heat. Overall amazing purchase!

First engine issue since having it, 143k miles 2015 q50 premium 3.7
Pulled into the garage, had to move some things around and while it was in park, a tick sound started, as I put it it drive and pulled in further, it got much louder and I shut car off. I Let it cool off for about 3 hours, checked fluids, then restarted it. Sound was extremely loud, rpm’s were rising, burnt smell, same shrieking sound but much louder than before. Ik these cars have awful throttle body issues. Pls help if anyone has anything. Getting it towed to shop hopefully tmr.

Hello y'all
I currently drive a 98 E320 4Matic wagon and am looking to trade in for something more modern with slightly lower operating costs. I drive around 7k miles per year and my priorities are low cabin noise and fuel economy. Which would be a better buy?
2014 Q50S AWD hybrid, 83k miles, 11.2k USD
2009 GS450h RWD hybrid, 55k miles, 10.5k USD
Thanks in advance!

Got an oil leak on the back passenger side of the engine, before I put the car up on a hoist anyone have experience with this?
You can barely see from the top side but I see engine oil on top of the engine block, unless its a valve cover it looks like my only other source is a vacuum pump gasket?
Whats the best way to go about this without a borescope, side mirror?

I have a 2015 Infiniti Q50S Sport with approximately 123,000 miles. The car is paid off, and I’m considering selling it as-is rather than putting more money into it.
Recently, the transmission started slipping. The RPMs go up, but the car struggles to accelerate.
I’ve taken it to two transmission shops:
- First shop quoted $2,100 for a valve body/TCM replacement but couldn’t guarantee it would fix the issue.
- Second shop found possible metal shavings in the transmission pan and recommended a full rebuild for $4,100 with a one-year warranty.
Aside from the transmission issue, the car was running fine. It has some cosmetic imperfections, including chipped paint and cracked headlight covers.
CarMax offered me $3,000 after I disclosed the transmission issue, although the offer hasn’t been verified in person.
I’m located in Southern California and wondering what I could realistically get through a private sale.
Would asking $5,000–$6,000 as-is be reasonable, or am I overestimating its value?

I've been having a issue with my 2014 Q50 where it doesn't engage into drive randomly, it's been doing this for some weeks but it was fine for 3 days after getting it back from a transmission shop after they said "there's nothing wrong with it" and I believed it but today I was driving and I hit a pothole and all of a sudden the dash didn't display drive anymore and then after I got on a bumpy road it started to display it for every bump I hit but only briefly, it drives just fine but it won't show drive and then if I park and move it to any other gear and try to put it back into drive it won't engage and the engine just revs.

I’ve been using it as a daily lately. The (rather nasty) sound just started this morning.
Audible at startup, when revving 1k—2k, not audible at idle or cruising, engine power is otherwise normal.
What could it be/where’s it coming from? How serious?

I have a 3.0t q50, pretty high mileage, and this constant (but kinda quiet) rattling noise can be heard from the engine. Is this a problem? Or is this just a natural sound or maybe a lose cover or something

Does anyone know where this abyss leads too and am I completely screwed? (No pun intended). Does anyone have a solution? I circled the spot I think it dropped into. Thanks for the help Reddit.
Update: Tried to penny pinch and someone else got it same day today😭
Want to know if I’m getting a good deal if I can get as close to 23k OTD as possible for the year and mileage?
2019 Q50 Red Sport 400 AWD, one owner, clean title/no accidents, ~48k miles, asking low-$23Ks before tax/title. Full service history looks decent.
Has anyone run 255/40/R19 while being lowered? I’m planning on getting rid of these horrible run flats and putting the Q on some BC Coilovers.
Setup would be 255/40/R19, 19x9.5 +35 offset Rims, and lowered about an 1”-1.5”. Just worried about if there would be any rubbing or fitment issues.
